Antalet askspridningar ökar kraftigt i Sverige. Förra året ströddes stoftet efter 1423 personer över hav, sjöar och landområden. År 2000 var motsvarande siffra 869.

Enligt professor Curt Dahlgren reflekterar det en ökad individualisering. Utmärkt! Fortfarande finns dock regler som försvårar för människor att förfara som de vill med askan efter avlidna:

Den svenska begravningsförordningen är strikt jämfört med lagstiftningen i England och Frankrike. Där kan de anhöriga ta med sig askan hem direkt efter kremeringen, berättar Curt Dahlgren. I England finns det till och med exempel på avlidna som fått sin aska strödd på favoritfotbollslagets hemmaarena. En sådan utveckling tror han inte är möjlig i Sverige.
- Men jag vet att det finns ett tryck på att ändra förordningen eftersom fler vill sprida sina anhörigas aska nära hemmet, till exempel i rosenrabatter, säger han.
Att de svenska reglerna är så restriktiva tror Curt Dahlgren hänger ihop med folkhemstanken.
- Det har funnits en idé om att staten ska ta hand om oss alla, även efter döden. Något som inte alls varit fallet i England, säger han.

Adm. Michael Mullen, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said there's a reluctance to acknowledge psychological problems for fear of showing weakness. Troops now fill out questionnaires after combat tours that help determine if they have suffered psychological damage. They're examined by medical professionals for physical injuries, but not by mental health experts.

It's a great idea.

Virtual reality technologies are helping combat veterans overcome the mental wounds of war

The scene from the front of the Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC) offers a postcard view of palm trees swaying in the breeze, rain-greened hills and, in the distance, the Pacific Ocean, marked by the wake of a Navy cruiser leaving Pearl Harbor.

In a nondescript VAMC conference room on the fifth floor at the Pacific Telehealth and Technology Hui, the visions of paradise fade to the reality of combat. After donning a head-mounted virtual reality display, you’re bouncing behind the steering wheel of a Humvee making its way down what looks like a street in Iraq.

At first, the drive seems routine. A woman clad in black crosses the road while a civilian SUV turns in front of the Humvee. The only sounds are engine noises. Dr. Sarah Miyahira, co-director of the Virtual Reality Behavioral Health Program and Laboratory at the center, then asks a technician to turn up the intensity.

The SUV suddenly swerves in front of the Humvee, and the vehicle’s occupants start firing machine guns. A rocket-propelled grenade comes within inches of the Humvee’s windshield. The rat-a-tat-tat of combat fills the room. Then the technician turns off the action, and the room returns to silence.

Miyahira, a VA psychologist, wants to use this immersive experience to help treat Iraq war veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder.

Using virtual reality to treat PTSD has its roots in the traditional treatment for the disorder, imaginal exposure therapy. In that therapy, a patient repeatedly describes traumatic events to a therapist and, in the process, tries to overcome memories, similar to those that have afflicted more than 800,000 Vietnam War veterans.

The virtual reality experience benefits those who cannot or will not conjure the images that cause them stress, Miyahira said. Virtual reality therapy helps break down those barriers by gradually reintroducing patients to the scenes of their trauma. Patients usually attend 10 therapist sessions during a five-week period, Miyahira said.

Först hade vi bild och jag letade mest efter en symbol som betyder något i stuk med: kärlek hopp trygghet och respekt. Någon sådan fann jag inte, istället blev det ett Peace tacken men jag funderar på att lägga någon symbol bakom så att det får mer betydelse (även om Peace tecknet står för något mycket bra)
Sedan har vi som vanlig filmkunskap. Under denna lektion håller vi på med en film (tema rädsla) vi har hunnit klippa till scenerna tidigare måndagar så idag gjorde vi musik och la till. Jag är nöjd än så länge. När man väl fick in musiken såg man rädslan bättre och allt blev genast bättre. Läskigt när man tänker på det, hur stor betydelse musiken faktiskt har i en film.
På programblocket hade lite diskussion och tankar kring reglerna i skolan, hur man skall bete sig mot andra och så vidare. Vi skrev själva vad vi ville ha för regler och lite varför, och många hade bra föreslag (men det känns som alla inte kan ta sådan pass som detta seriöst och förstå varför det är viktigt) om alla skulle hålla dessa regler skulle både skola och den ”vanliga” världen se annorlunda ut, men jag kan inte klaga på ale gymnasium då det varit den bästa skola jag gått på hittills.

Jag sitter och funderar på om jag haft några tankar under dagen som kan bli ett intressant ämne att ägna mitt skrivande för dagen till. jo…
På väg hem från bussen idag såg jag att min granna gick framför mig, med lugna långsamma kliv. Jag fick genast känslan av att jag inte ville att han skulle se mig så jag saktade ner minna annars ganska raska steg och gick långsamt och hyfsat tyst. När jag gick där frågade jag mig själv varför jag inte är artig och går ikapp och säger hej? Det är ju inte så att denna man (gubbe på sina 70/80 år) är en otrevlig typ utan snarare tvärt om. Jag har nog inte sett han annat än glad och vänlig (i alla fall inte mot mig) men vad är det då som ger mig klumpen av obehag i magen? Visst är han som många andra äldre, hör dåligt (extremt dålig) luktar konstigt(ja nästan lite illa) skojar med min precis som han gjorde när jag var 7, men detta är väl ingen anledning till att känna obehag eller är det? Är det precis sådant här som får en att hålla sig undan?
Eller är det de att jag vill förtränga faktumet att jag också en dag kommer bli gammal gråhårig ha slapp hud djupa rynkor? Är det så att jag är rädd för att växa upp? För att överhuvudtaget rädd för att bli vuxen och behöva ta hand om mig själv till 100% att inte ha en mamma att vända sig till och be om tröst?
Är jag rädd för att se mamma och pappa i denna situation(det dröjer ju inte allt för länge då det är i sina 57-59 år) är jag rädd för att se den kolla på mig och inte minnas vem jag är? (klart jag är vilken dum fråga jag ställer)
Rädd är jag i alla fall rädd för vad som händer när man blir gammal, rädd för att mista dem som står mig närmast, ja jag är rädd för allt som är kopplat med döden. Varför vet jag ej.

Det har varit fullmåne i natt..
inte undra på att jag inte hade ro till att sova i natt.
Somnade säkert vid 01:30 - 02 tiden
Sen har jag vaknat av och till under natten.
Gick ut på balkongen strax före fem i morse
och såg att månjäfeln vad rund som perkele ju.
Då gav jag upp.. så nu är man ganska loppu ju *gäääsp*

Nu är klockan 10:23 och har varit och hämtat Vagnen och väskan.
Snart ska jag i väg till skolan en stund..
Elias sover fortfarande.. Huu!!! så han låter när han hostar
Kände på honom nyss och han var så varm.. stackaren!!
Hoppas det går snabbt över nu...
Hoppas Hanna slipper skiten..
Det är väl bara hon kvar.. åsså jag då.

Ovanligt lugn måndagsmorgon var det här hemma.

Han var halv vaken när jag kom..
6:45 var dom frukostade och påklädda
Då var det över en timma kvar tills vi skulle gå.

Christa har receptionen på sitt jobb denna vecka
Hon måste vara på jobbet i tid och öppna
Så för att hon ska hinna lättare så lämnar jag ockås hela veckan.
Skönt att röra på sig på morgonen.. dagen kommer lättare igång
Jag är ju en slöhög numera ju.. *ler*

Om blickar kunde döda..så vore jag stendöd nu.
När jag gick med ungarna till skolan i morse
så stod det en kvinna på "kanten" av skolgården.
Vet inte om det var en förälder eller en som bara stod där
har aldrig sett henne tidigare.
Hon gav mig en sådan ilsken blick så det var riktigt ruggigt.
Hon riktigt följde mig med blicken..som var svart...
Munnen var som ett smalt streck och pannan rynkad.
Kollade bakåt när jag hade kommit på riktigt, riktigt betryggande avstånd
från henne.. Haha... är visst harig idag
och jodå.. hon tittade fortfarande *gulp* haha
Huu!! Mig veterligen har ingen skäl att vara ilsk på mig
Inte så ilsk i alla fall...
Hoppas jag bara inbillade mig.. är ju trött idag *ler*

Det märks när hon inte är hemma.. allt blir så konstigt då.

Grabbarna brukar fråga titt som tätt.. när Hanna ska komma hem.

och sen ska man inte tala om morsan då, hehe

Egentligen skulle det här inlägget handla om Help Desk på högskolan på Gotland. Men eftersom alla innerst inne vet att dom skriar i skyarna av förundring och lycka till windows95-skärmsläckaren; "rören", på deras skärmar man aldrig får se. Se upptagen ut (är mottot), så ångrar sig de flesta studenter i kön till "help-desk" och inser att dom gissar bättre än dom "vet". En gång, skulle jag prata med Don Geyer, GAMEs överhuvud. Jag frågar vart han sitter, och dom säger någon sal. När jag 20 minuter senare kommer tillbaks och lays down some heavy rhymes om att den salen inte finns, då jävlar vart det bråttom att gå på fikarast. Dessa historier om the horsemen of the apocalypse fortsätter ju i all jävla evighet.

Nu till nån annan skit! Det finns en bättre anledning att jag skriver ett blogg-inlägg klockan tio i fem på morgonen en söndag, än ren och skär jävla uttråkning. Tack vare sena projektarbeten har jag ju i vanlig jävla ordning kastat om dygnsrytmen. Brukar inte hamna i lyxkoma förrän fram mot fem, sex, men nu jävlar... På grund av mycket cirkus runt om kring, som följts av att min toalett vägrar spola vilket ger "toa-dags" mer än bara ett bögigt namn; det är numera en jävla farsot ur bibeln. I brist på sömn tänker jag att, jag kan ju fila tånaglarna som också påminner mig om att helvetet faktiskt finns. Detta slutade GIVETVIS med att jag ska raka håret igen, och självfallet dör trimmer-jäveln halvvägs igenom. Laddarfan ligger väl kvar i Linköping. Eftersom det uppdraget gick åt helvete, och jag fortfarande inte känner John Blunds kladdiga pedofilhänder innanför huden, så ligger jag där på golvet, i bara (för små) kalsonger som ger världens långsammaste kastrering, på alla fyra i badrummet och sliter upp det igenkorkad dusch-avloppet.

Förutom att jag skrivit världens längsta och mest osammanhängande mening så har jag alltså hunnit rensa duschen. Drog ut mer än sex hundar ur det jävla hålet fyllt med gäckande ondska. Lite duktig känner man sig, helt jävla omotiverat. Hursom, skönt att ta en dusch längre än fem minuter (innan så började badrummet fyllas av vatten).

So now what? Kalle har styrt ihop kalas för min räkning nästa helg, jävligt trevligt. Peter kommer på besök, och mina hemliga onda planer är att följa med honom tillbaka till Linköping och fira att jag fortfarande lever eftersom tre personer redan förutspått min död innan jag fyller 22. Har hot om polisanmälan och jävligt ont i magen för att jag envisas att äta ägg för det är den enda maten jag har här hemma mitt i natten.

Det som är roligast, egentligen, med att sitta här och gnälla är att jag är förtjänar ju skiten! Jag sitter för fan och äter mejeri-produkter när jag vet att jag är allergisk! Säkert nåt om bla bla bla bla disclaimer wutnut låt mig fan gnälla.

Haider var en framträdande politiker för det österrikiska nationalistiska partiet BZÖ (Bündnis Zukunft Österreich, ung. Alliansen för Österrikes framtid) och tidigare även ledare för FPÖ (ung. Österrikiska frihetspartiet). Under sin tid för politiker gjorde han sig känd som en fanatisk EU-motståndare och populistisk främlingsfientlig agitator.

Han har också i offentliga uttalanden berömt det tyska nazipartiet under Hitler för deras arbetsmarknadspolitik, uttalat sig glorifierande för SS som en del av den tyska armen som bör hedras, beskrivit koncentrationslägrena under andra världskriget som "bestraffningsläger"osv osv. Det var uttalanden i den här stilen som satte stop för hans karriär hos FPÖ, varvid han istället började arbeta inom BZÖ.

Österrike har under de senaste åren haft allt större problem med växande främlingsfientlighet. Det har varit en utveckling där FPÖ och BZÖ gått i bräschen för att normalisera rasistiska tankegångar hos befolkningen, genom att de har tillåtits växa och ta plats i offentliga sammanhang och i parlamentet.

Vissa kanske skulle argumentera att om ett parti har fått demokratiskt stöd och på så vis tillträde till riksdagen så är det helt okej. Att partiet på så vis skulle vara rumsrent eller att då vore det felaktigt att motarbeta partiet på gator och torg eftersom sådana aktioner vore "odemokratiska". Personligen så tycker jag att rasister ska motarbetas om de så sitter i regeringen, om de så har fått 70% av rösterna. Rasismen är aldrig okej.

I DNs artikel om Heiders död citeras Stefan Petzner, som är ställföreträdande ledare för BZÖ
"För oss innebär det här en världsundergång.."

Och det är skäl nog att fira för alla oss antirasister. Kanske det verkar smått barbariskt att fira en annan människas död? Jag är övertygad om att Jörgs mamma tyckte mycket om Jörg, och säkerligen är hans vänner och bekanta ledsna idag. Om jag skulle träffa Jörg på krogen så skulle vi kanske ha ganska trevligt, om vi inte pratade politik det vill säga. Men det hindrar mig inte från att avsky det han var symbol för och den politiska omvälvning han bidrog till i Österrike under hans år som politiskt aktiv. Jag tänker inte gråta några tårar för Jörg Haider, för vissa människor gör mer skada än nytta. Förhoppningsvis innebär Haiders död ett stort bakslag för högerextremismens organisering och ansikte utåt i Österrike.

Likväl ska jag fira den dag Margaret Thatcher och Ariel Sharon drar sina sista andetag. För det lidande de bidragit till. Och för att döden tillslut kommer ifatt även dem som bär dyra stenar i öronen och aldrig någonsin tvingas uppleva den verklighet som deras nyliberala och sionistiska politik har skapat. För att det som de stod för har inneburit död tusen gånger om för andra människor. Deras egen bortgång är bara en fjärt i rymden i jämförelse.

The Department of Defense has decided to arm it's Shadow Drones, small, cheap, and effective, I can defiantly see why the DoD has gone with this route.  The Shadows will also be used as a UAV.  But, the thought of pilots fresh out of basic training piloting unmanned weapons of death and doom in the skies above is a little unsettling.

En bok som handlar om en död tjej, och därmed framstår som lite makaber och morbid.

Lenore dog i en sjukdom som barn, men något hände. På bårhuset så uppstod hon igen, med repliken "Jag sov bara!". Hennes familj och släkt ordnade en fest för henne - eller åtminstone trodde Lenore att det var en fest - begravningen. Sen den dagen så slutade hennes familj umgås med henne, och hon fick en ny istället. Döda, och icke-levande saker.

Lenore är sakapad av Roman Dirge. Lenore var till en början något som Romans treåriga lilla kusin klottrat ner på en av hans anteckningsblock. När han fick syn på bilden så "såg" han Lenore dyka upp bland de slingriga mönstret av en flicka, som kusinen gjort, och han fick idén som skapade Lenore - en död med söt flicka. Till en början var Lenore bl.a en gästserie i Nemi, men blev till slut en egen bok, eftersom serien var så oerhört populär. Nemis skapare Lise Myhre skriver även ett av förorden i boken om Lenore.

Lenore menar oftast väl, men hon tar saker på för BLODIGT allvar. Som när t.ex en tant skojar med leken "Nu tog jag din näsa", och sätter sin tumme mellan pek - och långfingret så det ser ut som en näsa, då trodde Lenore att det var så på riktigt, och skar därför av tantens näsa med en kniv. Eller som den gången en kille visade en gosedjurs-leksak man kunde klämma på så att ögonen, ploppade ut. Då skulle Lenore gå och köpa en likadan, men gick in i fel affär, och kom istället in i djuraffären. Då tog hon upp en levande hamster, och trodde det var samma leksak pojken visat henne. Så hon klämde ut ögonen på det stackars djuret...

Lenore är inget för de som inte gillar morbid humor. Det kan nästan bli överdrivet elakt, och Lenore kan ibland framstå som en tjej som är kapabel till att mörda varända en som råkar nudda vid henne. Det är nog det enda minuset med boken. Lenore skulle - enligt mig - vara lite mer som Emil i lunneberga: Vara snäll, mena väl, men alltid råka göra blodiga scener, trotts att det inte var det hon menade från början.

That’s $10,000,000,000,000 that we owe to the rest of the world. And we’re going to pay each one of those $10,000,000,000,000 dollars back with interest. Damn.

My calculator can’t even hold that many digits.

And what were all those trillions spent on? A faulty war without premise, congressional spending on programs without premise, more wars, more pork barreling, more DoD items….and interest. According to the 2008 federal budget, the government budgeted $261 billion dollars JUST FOR THE INTEREST! That’s 9% of the federal budget going for interest! That blows my mind.

Regardless, not all hope is lost: they're changing the ticker's dollar sign to a digit placeholder as a temporary fix. We've still got more room.

]]> <![CDATA[Walled-Garden Wikis and Candlepower]]> http://lewisshepherd.wordpress.com/?p=805 Thu, 09 Oct 2008 11:23:58 +0000 lewisshepherd http://lewisshepherd.nl.wordpress.com/2008/10/09/walled-garden-wikis-and-candlepower/ Fact: Last night the U.S. Joint Forces Command (JFCOM) announced it has "moved its C2Pedia Registry to the unclassified network enabling more potential users to access and edit the site, hoping it will ultimately improve the quality of data."  C2Pedia is a MediaWiki-driven online knowledge base of information about Command and Control (C2), with specific information about more than 200 C2 systems used across the Department of Defense and the armed services.

Analysis: The profusion of wikis in official government circles is an interesting expression of the value of social media for enterprise knowledge management, but for the most part inside agency or network firewalls, denying access to the public at large and therefore incorporating only the wisdom of "the inside crowd." The State Department's Diplopedia sits on their intranet (ironically called "OpenNet"), as the New York Times pointed out in a story a few weeks ago ("An Internal Wiki that's Not Classified"), implying a distinction (without a difference to my mind) between Diplopedia and the IC's Intellipedia, which has an unclassified version as well - but it also sits on a firewalled network!

Jimmy Wales, founder of Wikipedia, testified to Congress recently about the value of wikis and social media within enterprises, and pointed out the distinction between "within-the-agency" verticalized information sharing, a la Diplopedia, and horizontal sharing across organizations as exemplified by the IC's Intellipedia, which as I mentioned has a firewalled unclassified version as well as its classified-network versions, all accessible from any of the intelligence community's sixteen agencies and beyond.

The JFCOM move opens the C2Pedia walled garden, to a level of horizontal openness dwarfing [meant to say] rivaling Intellipedia.  [ed.: That correction suggested by John Hale of IC Enterprise Services, which runs Intellipedia.] 

Now anyone with a DoD Common Access Card can access and edit C2Pedia -- and that's some 3.5 million active-duty personnel, bureaucrats, and contractors, according to DoD.

Tangential Analysis: History and Wikis

I go down to JFCOM quite often, made easier now that I'm living just upriver.  And I have a reason for a side-trip next time.  My wife's been doing her family's genealogical research, and recently traced her mother's line back to (and beyond) Christopher Newport, the earliest of Virginians, noted pirate, responsible for the first democratic election on the American continent, and purveyor of baby crocodiles to King James I. 

His longest voyage was his last, as he died in Indonesia.  But his most famous was in command of the Susan Constant (and accompanying ships Godspeed and Discovery) in 1606-07, from London to the Chesapeake Bay, where he and his crew founded the Jamestown colony.  So I'd like to visit the replica of the Susan Constant at its dock in the James River on my next visit down that way.

The Wikipedia article about the Susan Constant has basic information on the ship, but I was doing some other searching for its history and came upon a ship-modelers' website ("Ships from the Age of Sail Database") that has data on lots of 16th and 17th century ships.  Directly above the Susan Constant listing, I noticed the following:

Sovereign of the Seas: HMS Sovereign of the Seas; First Rate; Length:38.7 m (keel); Beam: 14.2 m; 1,141 tons; Armament: 106 guns; 20 cannon drakes, 4 demi-cannon drakes and 4 demi-cannon on the lower gun deck; 24 culverin drakes, 6 culverins and 4 demi-cannon on the middle gun deck; 38 demi-culverin drakes, 4 demi-culverins and 2 culverin drakes on the upper gun deck; Woolwich Dockyard, England; 1637. The Royal Navy's most lavish ornamented and expensive ship of the day. Slow and cumbersome, she nevertheless saw action during all three Anglo-Dutch wars. In 1703 she was destroyed by a candle mishap at Chatham." [Emphasis added.]

Now, that's from a site for ship-lovers, and presumably they know their facts. Meanwhile the Wikipedia page on "HMS Sovereign of the Seas" has more information but is less conclusive, saying she burned "having been set on fire either by accident, negligence or design."  Unfortunately there's no link to any more specific information on the ignominious end to what was "the most extravagantly decorated warship in the Royal Navy, completely adorned from stern to bow with gilded carvings against a black background."  The Wikipedia "discussion" and "history" pages hold no clue to any controversy or further development of the "candle-mishap" story, and I don't have the time or inclination to delve into the issue further.

Who's right?  Was the Royal Navy's "most expensive ship" brought down by a simple candle mishap?

That's where the wisdom of the crowd could take over...  I can't edit a question into the ship-modelers' site, because it is static - not a wiki.  However one could always stir the pot by editing in the candle angle to the Wikipedia page, citing the other website as a source.  That might draw out someone with more definitive historical evidence for what happened to this once-mighty military weapons system, its C2 power destroyed by a simple "candle mishap."

Update:  Shortly after posting this blog, a brilliant first comment was posted, and then the second comment below was posted, signifying success in my invitation to "the crowd" to update the Wikipedia entry for HMS Sovereign of the Seas.  If you don't know Ed Vielmetti, he's a Usenet pioneer, co-creator of alt.zines, and was famously cited by Tim Berners-Lee in one of the very first examples of "surfing the web" back in 1992. And, he's obviously interested in good wiki gardening.  I recommend Ed's blog "Vacuum" - his entrancing "Kibo approach to Twitter Zero" post is thought-provoking in the extreme, winding up with a tellingly appropriate passage from the greatest book of the 20th Century.

The partnership of DuPont and SFC Smart Fuel Cells AG of Germany won a Defense Department competition on Saturday to develop an ultralightweight portable battery that ground troops could use to power high-tech devices they need in battle.

The team, which took home a $1 million prize, adapted SFC's commercial methanol-based fuel cell that is used to provide power for recreational vehicles to meet the requirements Defense had set for the competition. USE OF COMMERCIAL SPACE SERVICES

 

The inclusion of industry representatives from both traditional defense contractors and commercial service providers ensured that the Intelligence Community's use of commercial services was addressed extensively. The Government purchases services from both commercial communications (both space and ground based) and commercial remote sensing companies.

  

National Security Presidential Directive (NSPD) 27: ``U.S. Commercial Remote Sensing Space Policy'' (2003), and NSPD 49: ``U.S. National Space Policy'' (2006) both dictate that commercial imagery services must be used where applicable and affordable. NSPD 49 states:

 

“Use U.S. commercial space capabilities and services to the maximum practical extent; purchase commercial capabilities and services when they are available in the commercial marketplace and meet United States Government requirements; and modify commercially available capabilities and services to meet those United States Government requirements when the modification is cost effective.”

 

On the surface, this guidance is clear. In practice, the Commercial Data Providers (CDPs) suggest that they often struggle for inclusion in the Intelligence Community's pool of satellite imagery providers. They state that Government investment in commercial services, as opposed to Government purchase of Government-owned high-resolution systems, has been limited.

   

Participants agreed that commercial imagery services are a complementary capability that contributes substantially to national security. Despite this acknowledgement, executive branch participants suggested that commercial services had significant limitations that prevented them from being used more frequently to satisfy Government needs.

   

CDPs state that one reason given by Government customers for their reluctance to rely on commercial imagery is the lack of ``assured access.'' Assured access is loosely defined as the ability of the customer to collect and receive data whenever it is needed, including the ability to be prioritized over other customers. Executive branch participants seem to believe that the Government is only assured access to systems that it physically owns. The commercial providers believe that a contractual agreement would afford the same assurance.

   

Commercial providers have heard that potential customers believe that it takes longer to task and receive imagery from commercial systems. The executive branch is responsible for both the tasking and dissemination of commercial data to Government customers. They are also responsible for the requirements levied on CDPs that enable the dissemination of their data to those customers. Given where the control lies, Subcommittee members question whether CDPs' inability to satisfy all users is driven more by the constraints imposed on them, rather than by anything inherently related to a commercial service. To eliminate the argument, tasking and dissemination systems will need to improve to enable commercial providers to better support DOD and customers in the Intelligence Community.

   

CDPs report that some Government agencies have not invited them to bid on high resolution systems. At times these Government agencies have restricted proposals to Government-owned systems and not considered whether a commercial service can satisfy the need. Agency general counsels should review the legality of this limitation. Members question why the best solution would not become apparent after an open competition. A decision based on a balance between the proposed technology, the total cost (including Government personnel in the case of a Government-owned solution), and the past experience of the bidder in developing a system of the same caliber, should provide the best outcome.

 

Recommendations on the use of commercial space services

 

A joint panel of the DDNI/Collection, NRO, NGA, and commercial data providers should assess whether any barriers impede the tasking or delivery of commercial imagery to potential users. If the panel identifies any technical barriers, it should perform a cost-benefit analysis of removing those barriers. The panel should also seek to eliminate policy barriers that unnecessarily impede the use of commercial imagery services. The DNI and SECDEF should approach the use of other commercial services that serve Government, such as communications or other applications, in the same way.

 

The DNI and SECDEF should recommend to the next Administration whether to strengthen or clarify NSPD 27 and 49 so that all acquisition organizations understand their responsibilities under these directives with respect to using commercial services.

MINORITY VIEWS

 

The report also fails to address critical issues related to use of commercial satellites, even though a series of Presidential decision directives encourages their use to the maximum extent possible. Commercial remote sensing has become an increasingly viable answer to a host of national security demands. Recent Administration decisions to acquire tiers of collection platforms that can operate within a comprehensive architecture require it to address how the U.S. will incorporate commercial remote sensing into its architecture and to perform a more robust cost analysis balancing commercial costs against the flexibility and capability gained through ad hoc collection tasking changes, while also continuing the research and development for next generation systems. The issues involved in these discussions are complex and important and the Majority report doesn't even mention them.

Ingen (förhoppningsvis inte ens Blondinbella)  har ju kunnat undgå att börserna rekordrasat och att den globala ekonomin är i rejäl gungning. Man har pratat om finansvärldens egna "nine-eleven" o.s.v.* 

I dagens Aftonbladet kan man läsa att Honkongbörsen fortsätter rasa trots att man gått in med otroliga 15 miljarder dollar på penningmarknaden för att lindra den finansiella krisen. E24 bland många andra skriver om att Island genom rysk hjälp skall räddas från nationell konkurs. DN rapporterar om att de brittiska bankerna nu förstatligas efter ett kapitaltillskott på sjuka 600 miljarder kronor.

Summa summarum är att något stort är på väg att hända. Vän av ordning undrar då om inte detta är "stort nog" eftersom hela världen kastats in i denna kris ? Personligen är jag övertygad om att detta bara är början.

I många år har moderaterna och kapitalisterna hyllat den fria marknaden. Planekonomi, statligt ägande och socialism har man skytt som pesten. Släpp kapitalet fritt så blir det tillväxt och alla blir rika och glada. Avreglera och sälj ut det som är statligt. Yada yada. Typ. Nu när situationen blivit en annan så skall givetvis staten med enorma skattemedel rädda dessa "luftslott".

Givetvis kommer inte detta att gå.

Det säger sig själv.

USAs budgetunderskott var INNAN denna kris så gigantiskt så att de aldrig skulle kunna hamna på plus någonsin. Det vi ser nu är inget annat än de sista elchockerna på en patient som är på väg att dö. Vi har ju kunnat läsa om att Island riskerat gå mot nationell konkurs. Det är ingenting mot vad USA är på väg mot i ett längre perspektiv. Man behöver inte vara utbildad ekonom för att räkna ut det, bara en aning bra på siffror. Således är detta bara början på en helt ny ekonomisk världsordning.

För den dagen (och den kommer) då USA totalkollapsar så kommer resten av världen (förutom Nord-Korea, Kina och Kuba) gå samma väg. Om resultatet blir världskrig eller bara allmänt lidande återstår å se men det kommer inte bli någon "fest på Stureplan" precis.

Det fascinerande i hela den här soppan är att Bibeln mer eller mindre förutspått detta. De som kan sin Bibel vet vad som står i Jeremia, Hesekiel och i Uppenbarelseboken. Vare sig man är troende eller inte så är det i alla fall häftigt att så mycket slagit in och och fortfarande gör det. Och om det fortsätter så som Bibeln förutspår så står vi inför ett sällan skådad globalt kaos som kommer sakna motstycke.

Vi på Stockholm Eternal hoppas givetvis att Bibeln får rätt.

Än så länge verkar ju saker löpa enligt "plan".

Det gäller bara att se sakerna från en annan synvinkel och i andra proportioner än vad media vill. Det är riktigt, riktigt kul att sitta och leta och lägga ihop ledtrådar som man får fram. Nu vet jag detta:

Hon heter Ruth J. H. är 77 år och still going strong. Jag har även hennes hemadress :)  Så nu ska det skrivas och författas på engelska eller "amrikanska".

Store T är nu utskriven och ska nu "bara" trappa ut morfinet långsamt, så han inte får abstinens. Sonen börjart  få det riktigt fint omkring sig nu och idag så kopplades bredbandet in.

Själv känner jag mig ganska tillfreds med livet. Det lunkar på som jag brukar säga. Det är tur att jag har dåligt minne och kan komma vidare ;)

Nu ska personer som var inblandade i Köttfärshärvan upp i rättegång. Två anställda ska åtalas men chefen klarar sig. Jag trodde att chefen var högst ansvarig för sin verksamhet. Men tydligen inte eftersom det höll på så länge. Något säger mig att chefen inte är riktigt ärlig här. Men vem vågar hoppa på sin chef? Se bara hur det gick för Rosa/Gina!
Vi glömmer så fort, det var stora rubriker och rabalder överallt, sedan blir det tyst. Daniel Johansson, var i Radion hos Lotta Bromé idag och nu syns han i de stora rubrikerna igen, suck!

Rättegången efter Rödebyskjutningen börjar i morgon igen. Igår var det precis ett år sedan det hände. Ungdomar manifesterade utanför gården och satte blommor och ljus på ett bord som familjen på gården satt ut! Det var lugnt på området och polisen var närvarande hela dagen.
