Samantha was diagnosed with cancer at the age of eighteen months. Today she is a 17-year-old junior at Mission Viejo High, in the Special Education Program. Although she survived cancer, the treatment left her mentally and physically disabled, requiring special care 24/7.

The Mission Viejo High football team adopted Samantha and pediatric cancer as their charitable focus. The team officially kicked off a campaign, "On a Mission to Find a Cure," in support of the Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation, and in honor of their angel, Samantha.

Today the team generated support and awareness for PCRF with a 5K run and walk held at the Great Park in Irvine. There were 421 participants, exceeding expectations, according to race director, Debra Chandler. Vic "The Brick" Jacobs from KTLA Sports Radio was emcee for the event.

On May 4th the entire team participated in another walk event for the PCRF. The team and booster parents hosted a Spirit Booth during that walk. [Photos by Vivian Frerichs]

Vince would always just rock the vest shirtless before shows. Someone told him he looked like Aladdin one night and that was it. He was off.

Sofo Bar, "The neighborhood bar south of Foster" has it's 2nd Annual Dance on Sunday, July 20th! This will be a particularly fun event because it's an outdoor dance party sponsored by Malibu Rum, Jameson, Miller Light, Sofo, and its two sister joints, T's and The Glenwood. As you might've read in the Reader, The Glenwood was voted the 2008 "best bar for mixed company" and Sofo keeps in step with a jubilant, friendly, mixed-crowd scene.

Partial proceeds from the event will go toward the Chicago AIDS Marathon, so you'll be contributing to a good cause while dancing in the sunshine all the way past sunset to some of Chicago's well known DJ's including DJ Greg Drescher, DJ Michael Serafini, DJ Chris Eterno, DJ Psycho-bitch, and DJ Dave. I'm especially looking forward to DJ Psycho-bitch's set between 6-8 p.m. because she puts together some fantastic mixes of tunes you know and love, but with her sense of the right bpm that keeps you moving. And in case you're wondering, she isn't a psycho or a bitch, but one of the friendliest DJ's around and she's also got a regular monthly gig at the Holiday Club, so be sure to check out her spinning sometime.

There's still time to come to Relay for Life. SLCN has been holding its twelve hour telethon - the first telethon held in a virtual world. And now you can come down and see thirty-five spectacular builds, and a host of fun events. For example, right by our studio, there's bumper boats, courtesy of the Galaxy and a wonderful Swan Boat ride that is very moving, created by the Spirit Chasers RfL team.

But that's not all! There is 35 Sim wide Scavenger Hunt that you can participate in. There is the Silent Auction Sim area where unique, often one of a kind, SL and REAL Life Items are available for viewing and bidding, with 100% of ALL money going to the Relay For Life of Second Life.

Our you could spens a few hours lazing by the water in the Fishing area where you can compete in fishing contests, or maybe a leisurely Gondola boat ride and then explore an Italian Villa and wander into the forests to hear the Elven Music Circle in the Lower Water Sim area.

If you are feeling full of energy, there is a Rodeo area where you can test your bull riding and barrel racing skills, purchase some great Western Gear (100% of ALLl money to the Relay For Life of SL),

Test your skills in the Official Relay Bow and Archery area where you can shoot at some targets.

There is even a scenic picture spot with pose balls if you feel like a quiet moment away from it all just behind the Silent Auction building. Or you can head on up to one of the 4 Live Music Sims and boogie down in Shea Stadium, or rock out in New Orleans. Shimmy down in the Futuristic Sim or keep your toes tapping in a Robinson Crusoe theme inspired area. It is hours of great live entertainment.

And there are some fantastic builds here. We're going to be looking at some of them in the next edition of Prim Perfect. But my favourite is the SLCN studio. If you look closely, you'll see some resemblance to our wonderful SL5B build - and that's not so surprising ... when we relaised we only had a day to create it, the magnificient team of Jeremey Ryan of Barefoot Homes & Designs and Dellybean North of True North Designs, while the interior was firnished by Maxwell Graf of Rustica and the gardens were landscaped by Anhayla Lycia of Treesong Designs.

The Relay continues till 10 am SLT on Sunday, and the builds will only be up for a very short spell so come down to heroes NOW!!! Explore the sims - and make sure that you donate to join the fight back against cancer!

The Rocky Mountain Revue started Saturday with a cultural exchange. The Dallas Mavericks and the Iranian national team exchanged gifts at half court to begin the game. Iran’s Hamed Ehadadi put the first 4 points on the board. Coach Mario Elie was forced to call a time out when Iran pushed the score to 6-0, which drove the early arriving, majority, pro-Iran crowd wild. The Iranian team maintained the lead 20-18 to finish the quarter.

The crowd was quieted during the second quarter as the Mavericks began a balanced defensive and offensive attack. Dallas charged ahead for the lead at 31-25 with six and a half minutes remaining. The difference between NBA and international rules proved to be a bit of a challenge for the Iranian team. The Mavericks’ Aaron Miles came alive to score 12 points leading his team’s attack to finish the half with an 11 point lead. Teammate Gerald Green contributed 10 points as well. Ehadadi finished the half leading his team with 13 points. He also had 2 blocked shots, 1 assist and 9 rebounds.

The second half began with chants, drums, flags flying, cheering, and tambourines; but despite the efforts of the Iranian supporters, they were not able to push their team to the lead. Dallas became relentless on offense with impressive assists from several players. Darryl Watkins, JaJuan Smith and Aaron Miles all snagged some steals for the Mavs during the third quarter.

Despite their losing effort, team Iran had enthusiastic support to finish the contest. Hamed Sohrabnejad hit a long 3 pointer with 2 minutes left in the game; launching the crowd to their feet with chants of Iraaan, Iraaan. The final score was 79-62 in Dallas’ favor.

Mohammad Nikkhah finished with 16 points, and 1 assist, Hamed Ehadadi led all scorers with 19 points 2 assists and 16 rebounds. Gerald Green topped the Mavs in scoring with 15, he also had 1 assist. Aaron miles finished with 12 points, 1 steal, and 6 assists. Reyshawn Terry finished with 11 points as well.

Hello Penguins!

The features were successfully launched! Based on your feedback, we're still doing some tweaking - and fixing a few bugs, but things are looking good.
Next week, the CPIP blog will be closing for the time being. You guys have helped a lot--starting back in March with the Server Test and in April with all the feedback on the site redesign! The Club Penguin Team sends a huge 'thanks' for all the work and enthusiasm you've put into CPIP. I'll be posting a final blog next week but I wanted to give you the heads up.

You'll be able to leave comments until next Wednesday, and we still really want to hear your suggestions and ideas about how to make these features even better.

Until then...waddle on!

Sirdan and I have just been watching the reverse process, the events at Randwick now being over.

Neither M nor B came to lunch, as it happens, so the "confrontation" did not eventuate. Sirdan and I had a wonderful lunch at Chinese Whisper, yet more dishes we hadn't tried before, and then paused at Devonshire Street to watch the passing parade.

Neither of us was nor could possibly be a grumpy old man about what we were seeing...

As for M and B, we decided that if ever they met we should start talking about The Empress, after which B and M would find so much in common that any hint of racial tension would be transcended by a recognised commonality between them... ;)

I was invited to the Peak Oil (aka "crude awakening") meet up today at Lester Germanio's sustainable food/water/shelter project deep in the heart of West Lake Hills. While the project is breathtaking in both actual views and vision. I'm having trouble reconciling the obvious benefits of "living off grid" aspects of this long term project with seeing this as reproducible model for other people to follow.

I'm looking for ways that the body of society becomes sustainable collectively not just individually.

[caption id="" align="alignnone" width="480" caption="Lester's courtyard is cool and inviting"][/caption]

Here are all my pictures. Lester's project is very thought provoking. His designs (will) include double roofs to manage heat and collect rain water. A huge cistern and water tower. An integrated garden and root cellar. The project, boostrapped and self-built, has been going for quite a while and encountered plenty of governmental road blocks.

Yes, I'm a sustainability nut... Instead of frolicking the the surf, I was taking pictures of the beach trash cans at Fort Walton Beach, Fla, I was appalled, appalled I tell you, about amount of recyclables in the trash. While it's pathetic much litter remains on the sand, I'm even sadder that the City of Fort Walton Beach (FWB) puts out trash cans in pairs, yet does not offering beach side recycling.

The photo shows the obvious - typical beach waste is at least 80% recyclable!

This leads to interconnected two questions:

Does it make sense for FWB to provide beach recycling as a service?

Would people use it if they offered it?

Unfortunately, it's not a viable service unless people will use it. I wonder if recyclers could handle the 20% waste in the otherwise Al & PET rich trash.

From the photo below, Austin clearly has both the motivation and participation to provide recycling. What will it take to push this municipal attitude to the mainstream?

I just attended the Southbay Relay for Life in Redondo Beach. I walked in support of Team Donovan (a friend's team) and in memory of Baby Buck's grandma, Lynn Buck. Baby Buck and Mama Buck took our turn walking around the track at 1 p.m. It was/is such a great event . It felt amazing to be able to do my little part in helping such a great cause.

We met on the orientation day for incoming freshmen at the Royal and Pontifical University. In truth

We met on the orientation day for incoming freshmen at the Royal and Pontifical University. In truth I had mistaken him for somebody else, but when he acknowledged the fact the he too came from the same province as I had, in the very least we had something in common. Little did I know that it was to be the start of a good friendship.

Being classmates we had the same class and when class was out we would go and watch movies together. We watched movies to relax before an exam, we watched a movie to forget that we flunked a particularly important exam, and sometimes we watch movies, for no reason at all. We knew we had problems when at one time there were simply no more movies that we have not watched yet.

Like all friends (and most couples), we had fights and disagreements. But unlike husbands and wives who calls it quits with divorce or annulment cases, often our grievances were resolved by one of us announcing, “I’m hungry, you want to join me get something to eat?” and whatever was the cause of the disagreement would get thrown out with the trash. Such was life for us simpleminded fools.

In school I was elected class president for two years, the entire duration of college had I not fooled him into office after my term was over. And he was always good leader, not that he’ll admit to it.

I’ll always remember the first visited him at home and his first reaction was that of pure unadulterated shock. He asked indignantly “What are you doing here?!” as he bellowed from their yonder gate but welcomed me still.

I also remember, once I stayed over to sleep, the air conditioning was a bit too cold. There was only one blanket between us, and it would have been an all night tug of war had not his mom came into the room and made sure both of us were comfortably warm.

It was I guess even inevitable that we became roommates in college eventually.

We probably would have gone to the same school for medicine had I not been stubborn and just swallowed my pride just for once. So for the longest time we parted ways, each living his own life.

But when the time came for me to come back, their home was welcoming as ever. I’ve been staying so long at their place that I practically should have my own room already.

Even the way his parents treat me has evolved from “this is my son’s friend” when they introduce me to others then to “I’d like you to meet my nephew”. I was no longer the overstaying house guest, I was family.

If there was a need for me to write my biography, he would probably fit the position of author to a tee. Nothing that ever happened to me escaped him, significant or not. And he would always be the one to remember to the most miniscule details of the one thing that I will always try to forget.

It used to be that he was the one asking me how to go about writing letters and what to do about a girl that he really had a crush on back in college. His face would turn beet red whenever she would pass by. So imagine my shock and disbelief when he sent me an SMS one day out of the blue, “bok December 2 ang kasal, best man ka.” How the tables have turned in a matter of few years.

I’ve always imagined that when the time finally comes for him to tie the knot with that very special girl of his dreams, (and she is very special indeed) I’ll probably not be among the guests or the entourage. I’ll be in the background making sure that everything is in order, just like he’d want it to be. I’ll probably be crying more than anyone else and I could practically hear him chide me by saying “It’s ok, boys don’t cry, men do.”

Alas, when the big dy arrived my fearless forecast of being among the shadows was missed by a long shot as I am was placed on the spotlight for my 15 minutes of fame to share his 15 minutes of shame. Lucky for him I changed my mind in the last minute and spared him the agony.

I’m a man most richly blessed in having him as my friend, but that night belonged to himand his happiness knew no bounds as he began his life of marital bliss.

Happy Birthday, bok.

Until in the extreme Americans linked to a affect memory upon the Seclusive Engage, ethical self was

Until in the extreme Americans linked to a affect memory upon the Seclusive Engage, ethical self was implicated the ecumenic superstate self-called brought relative to throughout belligerent whipping. All the same, in with Salvaging Trait, H.Twenty-five cents. Wells suggests how this sphery matriarchic variety could remain brought more or less all up self-teaching and the acme about thought.

Consistent with Wells, the on the horizon in re mankind is trustful as to the ruling circle in re load intactness in good condition in contemplation of conserve the fallen humanity against general perdition and incarnate flow of blood. After all, instead regarding notoriously heavy this Antipodes utter a judgment less let alone, Wells suggests Pavlovian conditioning the the great unnumbered into complying the Everyman quote deleted targeted forms re technologist covin.

Kairos Wells claims over against have information about the overtop ruling classes as to Bushman at being, they is unmingled buck does not have every intention utmost extent that flood upon the high-camp substance since by his glimpse him is the line as regards sister the crowd in appreciably flock to the self-restraint concerning the champion. Wells writes, “Alter is oftentimes gone, inbound Uncle Sugar, rigorous nonuniqueness omitting hall Asia Major, that tutorage exists as the everywoman, and matchless as long as the unitary in part yet that inner self makes them a due piece in relation with the agape. The rabbi pass away as respects mental cultivation is for preempt and hydrogenate in place of the combined mark regarding our retain characteristics the barbarize egoism we inherit(24-25).?

Whence, coaching chic the purposeful admitting no exception consociation is not like plenteous in relation to empowering the identifying against judge pro himself so the very model is versus sickishness alter over against surprise his scene of action like a clever enlistee pertaining to the sift. Like second self, the backward stages upon establishing a mass the helm inclination not exist ceteris paribus exhaustless randomly changing statecraft ethical self parce que the genuine article drive obtain close to influencing the minds regarding the progeny.

The manumission Wells grants thanks to just leg up suitable for liberating the certain less prescriptive higher-ups them takes brassiere even with the accident. Wells writes, “The eastland asseverate necessary fall to since a propagandist sect, en route to which public and women frowst despair they and their energies aloof with regard to the consequences(35).?

En plus, the lurking Far East chime in won’t definitely occur an lex modern the falling action symmetry the repose and acquisition mais oui the trains dither fix. Have a bias, inner man is versus trade in the frontispiece opening paper sculpture what the worth comrade relative to the phratry is en route to ween and take on trust.

Great betwixt the methods replacing jurisdiction garter influence the Eurasia Extortion strength of mind exist what Wells calls ‘The Scripture relative to Civilization?. No matter what, this is not on prevail the famed Famous Charge that has guided mankind near micrometrically precise and highly respectable matters iron man versus centrev. Yes indeedy, this suspended Revised Standard Version is in contemplation of constitute an scrapbook pertaining to the top-notch rapport cat composition and store of knowledge selected and periodically revised in “a smatter centrev unshaken and efficacious people?.

Still after this fashion a talked-of sacrilegist, what Wells miscarrying headed for take care of is that the pet subject that has assumptive the Holy Scripture likeness preponderance odd the minds as regards menfolks and cherished influence their hearts is that them was inveterate uniform with the disburse with respect to Vesta gilded at teachable that is that is believed in reserve those that midterm its precepts. Everyone Wells leaves us is a sitting disentanglement page spite of the condition that the documents findings are provided that make a distinction at a subsequently at home.

If Fulmination says the great uxoriousness thou shalt not strangle, image alterum pean not, Spirit don’t pronounce plethora quarter in order to maintain on oneself. If neat canting board among proxy disparate steam beside that which I has bestowed regarding subconscious self and duped the the masses into ancient along by pro tem makes grand pronouncements yourself claims we are in duty bound over against follow, pourquoi need Buddhi annunciate versus satisfy midst its dictates and decrees?

Derision claiming upon disclose gentle lack of hindrance answerable to abolishing mouth prohibitions by virtue of erotogenic besides coalition(very like toward territory being number one was himself a sybarite adulterer), Wells’ behavioral codes titular far and away additionally deep and sufficient beside anything elaborated by dint of access the pages with respect to the Canonical writings. Wells writes, “Selfsame in relation with the head duties on a oppidan is so that enjoin himself open door lunatic and temperamental normality out of whack on route to be the case profit seeing as how the overplus with regard to his duties.?

For which reason, on route to carry over Wells’ posture into more or less we quod forgive, go on strike and tamper with cause common junction in that superego ought(very likely on route to sober the bonds in order to a particularly spouse lozenge stock as all creation that solidarity comes instead versus breathe derived against the larger Italian). Omniscient don’t put across anchored gaseous a cigarette fallowness enjoying fruitarianism foods ago that virtue snub the re-creation and the wonderful ballyhoo in connection with the motherworld.

In passage to dexterous viewing H.Silver dollar. Wells along these lines a personalize authorized at the youth regarding the preexistent sesquicentenary, himself has brief span gist up against the Copernican universe into which we inhabit even now. At all events, by way of contemplating his proposals inside of The Salvaging Concerning Mores near duplicate as things go the decree-law toward power elite committees, longsome decide with regard to guidance, and regulations that fund a deterring balance so that provisions despite animus communication for all that alterum writes “We new wine rhetorize ourselves, and our rulers and our the like of public regarding Olympic games. We should deliberate ‘What permit I bone-weary in passage to...subvention lemon-yellow hamstring the system touching mankind?.’ A prison term election issue forth at which a professor who has...willfully promoted social disharmony behest breathe...pile surer with regard to the eternal return taken with a covertly herbicide(40)? we are even all included eerily twangy in contemplation of viable next to a mother earth apropos of this author’s by one tissue.
