In between those two events unfortunately you get to see what is undoubtedly most flawless VFX work ever accomplished in Indian Cinema. I said unfortunately only because I feel sorry for those guys at Prime Focus and Weta Digital whose effort in all probability will remain unseeen by those it was intended for. They can thank Harry Baweja for this. It really takes lot of imagination to make such an uneventful and boring film when the theme you are dealing with it time travel and reincarnation. In fact this film is so boring that you won't even know it is about time travel and reincarnation unless you knew beforehand.

Here is Love Story 2050 compressed for you so you can avoid a trip to the theatre. Guy love girl...girl love guy (repeat cycle till 5 minutes before interval). Then girl die...guy remember girl say she want to travel to "Mumbai 2050". Guy get brilliant idea that girl will reborn in "Mumbai 2050" and he start time travel to "Mumbai 2050" (Simultaneous, Harry Baweja start throwing 60 crore in drain). "Mumbai 2050" largely consist firangs and rule by gay fashion designers and their creation. Guy find red hair girl who look exactly like her 2008 girl. Finally, red hair girl remember 2008 duet (really nice tune by Anu Malik) and 2008 personal diary and decide to come back 2008. Story End (Simultaneous, Harry Baweja also stop throwing money in drain).

Harman Baweja has to live with being called a Hrithik clone for a while. He does show promise and it is unfair to judge him based on this film....but check out his "Milo na Milo" moves. Priyanka is borderline irritating (more to do with her 2050 costumes). The only time when you actually smile during the movie is when Harman says "I don't need luck, I have love". It's funny because when Daddy Baweja might have thought of that line, he never would have guessed how wrong it would prove for him. Watch this one only if you want to show solidarity with the VFX team.

Friday night out to dinner & movie with Miguel & Begonia. Went & saw Hancock - have to say I wasn't particularly impressed. All the good bits are in the trailers. The first third is fun, the laughs die in the second third and the end is just a little confusing and a bit twee. Anyway, make your own opinion, but mine would be to wait for the DVD. Don't spend your hard earned only to be disappointed.

Sat went to Norwich with Christine. Never been there before and although there were some very strange looking people about (the local 6-toed pesantry, no doubt) we had a lovely lunch in a brilliant tapas bar, then a bit of shopping in Primark that was good for the bank balance! No, really! Got 3 pairs of work trousers, a linen blazer, a bed set (doona cover, two pillowcases AND a fitted sheet) for £66. Brilliant! Missed the F1 qualifying, but entirely worth it. Norwich is a strange place. Full of very weird people, but great shopping and quite a pleasant vibe to the place.

Sunday, woke late in my new bedding (lovely!) and rose just in time for the pre-race warm up for the British F1 Grand Prix. And what a race! After Aussie Mark Webber kicked some serious ass in qualifying to get on the front row of the grid (WHOOHOO!!) he spun on the first lap in the seriously wet conditions (understatement of the year!) and ended up finishing 10th. But the wild & wet conditions drove Ferrari to distraction, with Massa having a hell of a lot of trouble keeping his car turned in the right direction. It seemed he was spinning every 5 mins! Raikonnen only managed 4th after a late attack at Alonso - the Ferrari's just seemed to have a hell of a time maintaining pace, even in qualifying. With Kubica, championship leader, out of the race and thereby scoring no points, the way was clear for a stampeding, rampaging Hamilton to secure his first place and the vital 10 points. Hamilton was never really in doubt and romped away in the awful conditions to win by more than a minute - almost unheard of in F1!

After the F1 I went to Wendens Ambo for their annual Village vs Pub cricket match, which Christine and Anne (who runs The Pub in question) roped me into doing some scoring.. I think it's because I actually know a little about cricket, thop never scored before. But it was fun! Good day out. Weather was crap, and the rain bucketed down for about an hour or so, but it held off long enough for the Village to win by 3 wickets. A fun (and slightly drunken!) afternoon, got home about 8pm to a hungry cat and brand new Top Gear - which seems to be getting better and better. Love that show.

Also got some 'new' music. A few weeks ago I bought the Desperado Soundtrack, and have been loving the hell out of it! I'm really into dirty mexican blues at the moment, dirty messy guitars and a vaguely latin americal feel. Anyway, got the From Dusk Til Dawn soundtrack and also Tito & Tarantula's 'tarantism' to groove down to now. Brilliant! Happy musical days :)

Dasavatharam is India’s most ambitious film in terms of budget and scrip. The film was released on June 13 2008. Ravichandran decided on the project in 1996. It took a lot of time to get the film together. Almost after twelve years it was released world-wide on June 13, 2008 in the Tamil language, with a simultaneous dubbed version released in Telugu. The film is set to be dubbed into Hindi and released later in the year.

Role

In the movie Haasan appears in ten different roles, breaking the record for an actor's portrayal of the most different characters. The movie also has Asin in a dual role and Mallika Sherawat, who plays lead role. Kamal Haasan has played ten different roles in Dashavatharam - US President George Bush, Balaraman, a brahmin, a tall Afghan, a Lankan Tamil, an old lady, a doctor, a police officer, a Japanese, and a Daler Mehndi look-alike.

Music

Himesh Reshammiya has composed the film's soundtrack, and Devi Sri Prasad has given the background score. The soundtrack to Dasavathaaram was released on April 25, 2008, which became the largest audio launch for a film in the world. Prominent film personalities across the world including Jackie Chan, Amitabh Bachchan, Mammooty, Vijay and Madhavan attended the function

Distribution

In the recent past, most big-budget films be it Hindi, or any other regional film, producers have adopted a revenue model where the investments are typically recovered before the release of the film. The producer of the movie, Ravichandran, took the different route and decided to distribute the film himself. He has ensured that the film is released in as many screens as possible. The film overall will have 1,300 prints which will include the Hindi version as well. Tamil Nadu alone had 275 prints with Kerala and Karnataka accounting for 85 and 80 prints respectively. The Telugu version of Dasavatharam had as many as 260 prints. Around 1,100 prints will be released domestically while the rest will go abroad in countries like UK, US, Europe and Singapore.

Revenue
In terms of money that came Ravichandran's way before the release of the film, it was Rs 2 crore from Sony-BMG for selling the music rights and another Rs 4.5 crore for Kalaignar TV for the satellite rights. That adds up to just Rs 6.5 crore. The Ravichandran has distributed movie himself and is confident that the movie will do business worth Rs. 300 crores.
Reviews

Dasavatharam has been declared as the Blockbuster of the year due to its huge and mega opening worldwide in Indian film history. The film is anticipated to rake in close to Rs. 100 crore as its theatrical revenue at the end of this week, as Chennai theatre owners state that the bookings for the next 10 days are house-full. If compared to Rajnikant’s Sivaji the film grossed over 25 crore in its first one week. Given the current figures, Kamal Hassan is currently one up.

My oldest friend, who is a Victorianist, defines the Gothic for me, and I define the chorus for him. We know our fields of specialty because we define them broadly - to him, everything is Gothic, and to me, everything is a chorus.

I go back to Pasadena and watch Mike Leigh's film TOPSY-TURVY again (about Gilbert and Sullivan) thinking it will give me some insight into collaborating on a play with music. I notice, this time, that Gilbert is directing the whole thing, too - rewriting his lines on the fly, and staging with absolute brutality and simplicity, allowing no one's ideas into the shape but his own. It reminds me very much of the directors I have worked with who have also been the writers of the piece in question. Their ideas are good, but their processes are less open to innovation from the actors than the processes of directors who are only directors.

I think of the rehearsal I just had last week for the short Ron Allen play, and how little he said compared to how much I said. To write and only write, you need to be prepared to give your words into someone else's hands.

Watching TT again also makes me wonder about making sure both CF and I continue working at the highest artistic level of which we're both capable - not compromising ideas for each other as Sullivan felt he was for Gilbert - I wince at the memory of a few times during the reading where I asked him to provide music that was essentially musical sound effects, humorous and uncomplicated. On the one hand, I think he is more open to that kind of thing than other people I've worked with. On the other, we've never really talked about it.

It's funny - I also realize, in this watching of the film (and after reading some writing online about it), how Mike Leigh's filming of the scenes from the G&S operettas really plays up the fakeness of theater as a medium. It's all about seeing the humans behind the illusions.

Günümüze döndüğümüzde ise dikkat çerçevemiz epeyce genişlemiş olduğuna inanıyorum. Televizyonda artık her kanalda onlarca dizi var. Diziler ise artık öyle bir duruma gelmiş ki, her dizi ayrı bir karakter takımına sahip ve başarılı olanlarındaki karakterlerin insanların haklarında akrabalarından daha fazla bilgi bildikleri kişilere dönüşmüş. Tabii ki televizyondaki karakterler arkadaş topluluğumuzdaki çoğu insandan daha enteresan olduklarından dolayı insanların muhabbet konuları izledikleri dizilerdeki insanlar üzerine dayalı olmaya başladı.

Ama maalesef dunyamızda zaman diye bir kısıtlama var ve televizyon kanalları çok beğenilen programları aynı saat dilimleri içinde sundukları için eğer birden fazla programa ilgi duyuyorsanız bir seçim yapmak zorundasınız. Ayrıca eğer çok yoğun bir iş yada sosyal hayat programınız varsa dizinizi kaçırmak gibi çok korkunç bir sonuçla karşı karşıyasınız.

Artık bu sorunları aşmaya yakın bir durumdayız. Önümüzde bir kaç çözüm yolu var:

·        Birincisi video kaset kaydediceler kullanmak (yada Digiturk Plus). Ama bence çok masraflı ve programlanması gereken sistemler olduğundan o kadar da çekici değil.

·        İkincisi ve ülkemizde en çok örneğini gördüğüm ise korsan vcd/dvd satıcılarından film ve dizilerin kopyalarını almak. Bu hem etik olmadığı gibi hem sizin başınızı kanunla derde sokabilir hem de sandığınızdan çok daha masraflı bir işlem. Ayrıca televizyon ve film endüstrisin de zayıflamasına yardımcı olduğundan dolayı uzun planda sizin zararınıza.

·        Üçüncüsü ise dizileri ATV, Kanal D ve bunun gibi bir çok televizyon kanalının websitelerinden veya iTunes gibi programlardan paranızla satın almak.

Bu yukarda belirttiğim 3 seçenektede hep kullanıcı aşırı ve bir masraf altına giriyor. Sonuçta televizyon izleyicileri yıllardır sadece biraz reklam izleyerek bu masraftan kurtulmuşlardı. Hala neden böyle bir iş modeli internettede işe yaramasın? Bununla birlikte uzun zamandır kullandığım Internet Televizyonculuğunu  tavsiye ediyorum. Ülkemizde daha tam olarak yerleşmemiş olan bu kültür amerikada başladı ve ilerlemeye devam ediyor.

Internet televizyonculugu dediğimde lütfen ATV veya Kanal D’nin şu anki sistemleriyle karıştırmayın. Onlar işi biraz daha ticarete dökmüşler ve programlarını internetten satıyorlar. Hulu.com ve çoğu diğer amerikan televizyon kanallarının internet siteleri artık dizilerini satmıyorlar, yayınlıyorlar. Yayınlarken de gelir sağlayabilmek için onlarca yıldır yaptıkları işi tekrarlıyorlar: reklam yayınlıyorlar. Bu sistem yıllardır televizyon sisteminde gelir getirdiyse internet aracılığıyla da yüksek gelir getireceğine inanıyorum ve Hulu.com ile yazdığım raporu da incelerseniz daha şimdiden ne kadar karlı bir model olabileceğini daha rahat anlayabilirsiniz.

i've been talking to everyone about it. and all my friends, you, have been so very supportive. and i couldn't ask for better friends. thank you.

the only advice i've been getting is to move on and how to do so. and i am taking that advice. i've made the move to do something i've been wanting to do for a long time and that is making my first film. i mentioned that before, i know, but i've actually set a date for shooting. july 27th. it's the most exciting and frightening thing i've done in a long time. even more than chasing down that lovely woman in korea last year for a two month date to europe and africa. well, maybe not that scary...

last year i decided that i wanted to make the move to photography. and secretly i had decided i also wanted to get into film making. photography was no problem, but stepping into motion pictures? that was tough. no equipment. no training. no connections. how to start?

luckily it just fell into my lap. like so many other wonderful things and opportunities. dk pan just looked at me one day and said, "why don't you make a movie? you can use my camera." jesus, dk, are you ever going to stop accidentally upgrading my life? thank you!

so i'm working on it. and it'll debut in august. i'll let everyone know the details of the showing and you can all watch me whimper and freak out in public. and if you have any comments i will be open to them. scared, but open.

since i've been through so much in the last week i have barely been taking pictures. it's just too depressing. my biggest decision has been whether to get a new laptop or buy a smart, new camera. at this time i'm thinking of a camera; the canon rebel series comes highly recommended. and now that i doing a worktrade with the photo center northwest it seems like a great idea.

maybe the transition into a new field of operation for me, from dancer/musician/performer, will actually occur. i hope so. i'd like to think that all this work in other fields will translate. that my work in the other genres will be beneficial to my new eye. and i have ideas. just wait. you'll see. and hopefully i'll continue to keep you amused so you'll keep inviting me to dinner and drinks. thanks for the dinner and drinks!

Ama eminim ki site daha da yaygınlaştığında bu fiyat da yükselerek şirketi daha da karlı ve cazip bir şirket haline getirecektir.

Kalau ada film yang paling banyak mengajarkan wisdom dan hikmah serta sangat mengena, film itu adalah "The Last Samurai". Tapi tidak lagi setelah saya menonton "Kung Fu Panda". Mungkin anda akan tertawa sepanjang film, dan akan pulang dengan penuh semangat seperti baru saja mengikuti training motivasi. (hehe.. agak lebay sih, tapi paling tidak mendekati lah..)

Kata pak Anis, alam pikiran merupakan ruang kemungkinan (space of possibility). Karena itu, sebelum hal-hal besar yang kita inginkan terjadi benar-benar terjadi, terlebih dahulu kita harus membuatnya nyata di alam pikiran kita. Inilah rahasia berpikir besar, and there's no charge for it! Berpikir dan bermimpi besar itu gratis, tetapi banyak orang takut melakukannya.

Sisi lain dari quote "here are no secret ingredients.." adalah bahwa untuk menjadi sukses, kita tidak perlu rahasia apapun. Kalaupun ada, kita sudah mengetahuinya: kerja keras, disiplin, tekun, dan hal-hal sulit lainnya.. hehehe.. Bukan dragon scroll-nya yang menjadikan hebat, melainkan latihan panjang yang dilakukan agar dianggap layak mengambil dragon scroll tersebut. Toh, dragon scroll hayalah gulungan kertas kosong.

Ooguay: "you just have to believe"

Master Shifu tidak percaya bahwa Po (panda gendut yang tidak memiliki talenta dalam kung fu) akan bisa menjadi Dragon Warrior. Master Oogway hanya berkata, "you just have to believe..". Seringkali yang paling dibutuhkan seseorang untuk berkembang hanyalah kepercayaan yang tulus yang diberikan padanya. Entah itu dari orang tua, atasan, atau guru.

En regardant le nouveau film de Renny Harlin, réalisateur de 58 minutes pour vivre et de Cliffhanger, on pouvait s’attendre à des fusillades impressionnantes, des cascades à couper le souffle... Bref de l’action non-stop. Si les premières scènes de Cleaner mêlent habilement action et humour noir le tout sur une musique entraînante, la suite du film a bien du mal à tenir la cadence.

A défaut de scènes d’action interminables, on subit plus qu’autre chose une accumulation pas forcément passionnante de séances de « nettoyage » par Samuel L. Jackson. Quant aux différents éléments de l’intrigue, ils sont distillés ici ou là au fur et à mesure que le film avance sans une réelle cohésion. Pour un film comme Cleaner (nettoyeur en VF) un bon dépoussiérage du scénario aurait été le bienvenu…

Dalam film ini, John Constantine berusaha menebus dosanya karena terkutuk telah melakukan bunuh diri di masa remajanya. Penebusan dosa ini dia lakukan dengan cara mengembalikan iblis-iblis dari neraka yang berusaha menerobos masuk ke dunia manusia.

Ketika John sedang menangani kasus bunuh diri seorang wanita yang kembarannya mati bunuh diri, dia berhadapan dengan Gabriel yang ternyata dalang di balik kasus bunuh diri kembaran wanita tadi. Gabriel (the angel) ingin mengeluarkan Mommon, iblis terkuat di neraka ke bumi untuk menghancurkan manusia supaya terjerumus ke neraka.

Aneh kan? Seolah-olah, Tuhan (dalam film itu) tidak 'tahu' dengan konspirasi yang terjadi antara malaikat dan iblis di surga dan neraka. Lalu kenapa pula seorang malaikat harus iri sama manusia? Kenapa pula malaikat punya rasa iri? Ah daripada pusing-pusing mikirin itu, saya mengambil kesimpulan bahwa "ini hanya film (bodoh)". Terlepas dari semua tanda tanya tadi, film ini lumayan menghibur. Geli sendiri ketika melihat Malaikat Gabriel itu dicopot dari jabatannya menjadi manusia biasa. Hahahaha...Juga visualisasi neraka yang mereka gambarkan seperti sebuah kota mati yang hancur, panas membara dan gersang. Ada pohon yang terbakar, mobil-mobil yang hancur dan berdebu. Ya Allah, saya tidak bisa membayangkan bagaimana neraka yang sebenarnya. Pasti milyaran kali lebih buruk dari yang saya lihat di film.

Semoga kita terjauhkan dari neraka nantinya. Amin...

So I've just been loving some new music I recently acquired. Coldplay's Viva La Vida, that I've been talking about for weeks now. The National, they're album Boxer is really sweet. And still after months and months I'm loving these three EPs from my amazing friends: Danielle Fish's Being Mended Up Slowly (key track #5 Being Mended Up Slowly) Something in the Wheel's EP Sometimes Things Go Sour (key track # 2 Three Days) and Kevin Farr's EP Potato (key track #4 Freckles). Last night I went with my sister to watch Grindhouse at the Inwood theater and it was awesome! If you don't know what Grindhouse is, its a double feature that was made in the style of 70's exploitation films and "B movies" They're definitely niche type films but it was just what I needed for a little "pick me up"

We showed up at the theater about 10 minutes before the show, and the line out front suggested that perhaps we were too late. Luckily for us, everyone was there to see Wanted and not Wall-E. Shelly snuck all of our homemade snacks into the show, and we also managed to get Lane past the arcade without him being too distracted…

The theater wasn’t too packed, but there weren’t many decent seats of three remaining. We found some on the aisle about half way up and got comfy. Lane was really excited, but I made the mistake of telling him that they would be turning all the lights out. He didn’t like this and instantly started saying he wanted to go home. He finally calmed down by sitting on Shelly’s lap, and shortly thereafter the previews started. They were all age appropriate, and featured some bad Disney movies, but they made Lane laugh which really calmed him down.

Finally, the movie. It’s a great one, and everyone should go see it. Even without a lot of dialogue, the story that is told has some amazing detail, even with all of the dark doomsday apocalyptic stuff going on. You fall in love with Wall-E and Eve, and it doesn’t take much for you to really get wrapped up in all the emotion. And, I have to say that the mop character on the space cruise ship was one of my favorites.

Lane laughed out loud several times, talked about the rockets repeatedly, and thoroughly annoyed the thirty-something couple seated in front of us. Especially when he spilled his Tupperware container full of popcorn about 3/4 of the way through the show. Oh well. We had to remind Lane to talk soften a bunch of times, but he was amazingly good throughout the 90 minutes.

Since seeing the movie, he’s talked about it nearly on a daily basis, and points out every piece of Wall-E advertising that he sees. He definitely enjoyed his first movie experience, even more so than all the other Pixar/Disney movies that he has seen prior.

Oh, and I can’t forget the Wall-E watch he got. As part of the opening night celebrations, all kids got a Wall-E watch that looks like a blue “Live Strong” bracelet that just happens to have a small digital time piece on it. There are pictures of Wall-E and Eve, and a big Wall-E logo. It’s impossible to actually set the correct time on the thing, but I somehow doubt this is of much concern to Lane. :)

Persepolis is the story of a young girl who grows up in Tehran during the tumult of the Iranian Revolution and experiences the unjust oppression that is executed by the Islamic fundamentalist regime leading her country.

I actually learned quite a bit about the history of Iran as I watched this film. Certain scenes are extremely moving and will touch your heart, while others are just pretty freakin' hilarious and will definitely bring a smile to your face. Overall, it's a great film!

Also, did I mention that the film is autobiographical, animated and mostly in French?
