I found my perfect outfit - A Jean Paul Gaultier stylishly kinky, yet elegant dress at a mere £1,050, complete with outrageous snakeskin knee high boots at £2,155. Throw in some lunch and a bottle of wine to recover from the expense and - three and a half thousand pounds later - the world is your visually appealing oyster.

I will run up that little number, on my own sewing machine, at a fraction of the cost (not counting my time, which I never do). Not sure about the boots since I have not dabbled in the intricacies of what a shoe maker does; and please don't believe the Italians have it all: Go to Spain - to this day I mourn the most phantastic high heeled black patent leather peep toes, complete with yellow, red and blue inserts, I purchased there; ten years later they fell apart.

Madonna managed to create controversy again. This time not due to sex, but politics. The 50-year-old diva kicked off her Sticky & Sweet world tour with a concert in which she expressed her political views.

During the show that took place in Millennium Stadium in Cardiff, Wales, Madonna chose to show a video which associated images of destruction and global warming, photos of Adolf Hitler and Zimbabwe’s president Robert Mugabe with Senator John McCain.

Towards the end of the video, which was played while the pop diva performed the song “Get Stupid,” the image of her favorite presidential candidate, Barack Obama, was accompanied by images of slain Beatle John Lennon, former US vice-president Al Gore and Mahatma Gandhi.

In a statement reported by Fox News, McCain campaign spokesman Tucker Bounds expressed his anger towards the fragment of Madonna’s concert that connected the Republican presidential candidate McCain with Hitler and Mugabe, saying that the comparisons were “outrageous, unacceptable and crudely divisive all at the same time.”

“It clearly shows that when it comes to supporting Barack Obama, his fellow worldwide celebrities refuse to consider any smear or attack off limits,” Bounds added.

The rest of Madonna’s show went on as usual, with hypnotizing dancing and sexy outfits, complete with fishnets and bondages. It was reported that 36 designers worked to create about 3,500 items of clothing specifically for Madonna’s tour.

A couple of weeks ago, Givenchy spokeswoman Caroline Deroche-Pasquier said that Riccardo Tisci from Givenchy created two concert outfits for Madonna’s upcoming world tour "Sticky & Sweet.”

In a press statement, Tisci himself expressed his excitement at the fact that he had the opportunity to “offer the world of Givenchy Haute Couture to Madonna the Icon, the Artist, the Woman for whom I have so much respect and admiration.”

Madonna has worked with big designers before, when organizing her tours. She collaborated with Jean-Paul Gaultier for her 1990 “Blonde Ambition” tour, and with Dolce & Gabbana in 1993.

Givenchy said that Madonna’s first outfit would be “a reference to 'Gangster Pimp' and Art Deco,” while the second would be of gypsy inspiration. And that’s no surprise, as Madonna revealed her plans of singing together with Romanian gypsies during her tour.

Christianity has influenced the world in so many ways, other than where some people go on Sundays.

Christianity has influenced the world in so many ways, other than where some people go on Sundays. The Bible is the most well known book in the world. It's stories appear in so many places in so many ways, we barely even notice it anymore (i.e. The phrase "good Samaritan"). Whether or not people believe in the Christian faith is beside the point because it has fascinated and inspired so many over the centuries. From literature to art, music and lifestyle, it has even stumbled onto high fashion runways.

The first two is Dita Von Teese modeling Jean Paul Gaultier. The Virgin Mary was his collections inspiration.
Aren't they absolutely stunning? These are the photos of Miles Aldridge and it more than obvious that the Virgin Mary is his inspiration. Of course the Fashion world adopts the more ornate Catholicism style. That way you get all the bling. There is a artist that puts the others to rest on this subject. Religion is a reoccurring theme of his work, it's almost excessive. The scenes he paints are a little disturbing at times but they never fail to be creative and beautifully executed. Well known eccentric photographer and one of my personal favorites:David Lachapelle

He displays various religious stories: the virgin Mary and her deceased son, something reminiscent of the last supper, and a modern day take on Noah's Arc.

If this religious ascetic is your thing, there's more where that came from. You can buy fake rosary and wooden bracelets with tiny paintings of saints on them at Hot Topic. I'm not a Christian myself but I personally like those runway looks. Sometimes I think religious influence can get sickening because it's everywhere you turn, yet it is amazing to see how intrigued people are with something historical.

So get out there and make Jesus proud ;)

Stanley Kubrick's A Clockwork Orange will always be close to heart. I've always dreamt of appearing as Alex DeLarge or any one of the droogs at some event, like a Halloween or any other fun, theme party (that's not Hawaiian, or bohemian, etc. You get the point.)

Key ingredients: a painterly bonnet, white ensemble of long sleeves and pants, black lace-up army boots, suspenders, cane, and Shu Uemura faux lash on one eye. Though the to-wear list seems plain, I believe a proper event is necessary for this particular dream. I just don't have enough guts to wear such an outfit on a normal day that requires me to ride the LRT to Intramuros.

Guys sharing a similar ambition, however, have a more favorable fate as one designer wear have followed a Clockwork slant.

Thankfully, glove designs are definitely not reserved this season. In place of staples such as the black or brown mid length leather glove are colors, cuts and various shapes to tailor every look you wear them with a little bit differently.

The first thing I thought of when I saw those yellow Gaultier opera gloves, I instantly thought of United Colors of Benetton's suede mustard yellow boots...they would go magically together!

As always, gloves can be the life of your look or a blended feature. As always, the visual impact greatly depends on the length, cut and color of your hand protection.

As more retailers receive fall stock I'm sure we'll see more of a highstreet version of the pieces pictured. Keep a close eye on your local Winners; they were a gold mine last glove season.

Mustard is one of the hottest shades to hit the runways, and is one of the easiest colors to integrate into a darker Fall wardrobe.

Mustard is being used for all aspects of the clothing palette; from gloves to socks to layering basics. For a more subtle dash of color, work in mustard socks or tights while layering. If you're going for a more intense visual, pick something with more coverage like a block color dress or shorts.

To keep an outfit flowing and ensure the colors mash together well, pair complimentary tones like gold or wear an accessory (such as the Lacoste tie below) that have a bit of color in them to blend the look together.

From left to right: Balenciaga, Betsey Johnson, Jean Paul Gaultier, Lacoste

***

Accessories, anyone?

Give out a knockout visual with even the most demure pairings with mustard accessories. What could be a classic (and perhaps too matronly) dress is instantly lifted and pops with bright pumps, boots, gloves or hat.

This is the more cost-efficient way to amp up your wardrobe with a season's worth of staying power. Try a traditional boxy pea coat from a thrifting adventure, plum tights and a black flapper-esque hat. That is one combination which offers the option of being workable with pieces you already own since mustard is so complimentary to most other shades.

Humberto Leon and Carol Lim

Humberto Leon and Carol Lim

This week’s guest bloggers are Carol Lim and Humberto Leon, the co-founders of the downtown boutique Opening Ceremony. Leon and Lim, former luxury retail executives who met as students at the University of California, Berkeley in 1993, have opened shops in both New York and Los Angeles. The store's eclectic edit of labels -- a mix of young and established designers, including the boutique's eponymous line -- started as a retail take on the Olympics, pairing U.S. designers with 15 international offerings for a competition of sales. Lim and Leon’s global approach to fashion has widened the international influence of designers from Sweden, Brazil, Germany, and Hong Kong. In September, their focus will turn to Japan.

With this week being Olympic-countdown week, many eyes will be on all the athletes around the world. Instead of the traditional outfits that most athletes wear, we thought that they could be spruced up a bit. We hand-picked designers that we thought would be good fits to redesign what these athletic greats would wear. Designers and sports are paired according to the designers signature pieces while meeting all the athletes (fantasy) needs.

Might the baseball uniform switch to a wide-leg pant, like this fall '08 look from Acne? (Acne; AP)

Baseball - Acne
Baseball has always had just one fit: skinny. Acne is the perfect designer to introduce a new fit to the sport...perhaps a flare leg?

Basketball - Pierre Hardy
Since everyone is in love with Pierre Hardy's hightops, all he would have to do is offer them in a size 20.

Boxing - Rodarte
Instead of using bulky, cushioned gloves, Rodarte has the perfect solution with their cat-claw leather gloves from Spring. One hit and your opponent is out. This is the perfect inspiration for their next bloody, horror film collection.

Canoe/Kayak - Martin Margiela
Since Margiela likes to wrap things, we thought it would be fitting for him to not only wrap this canoing team in form-fitting, waterproof outfits, he could also wrap the canoe as well.

Track & Field - Jeremy Scott
With his column dress as inspiration, who is a better candidate than Jeremy Scott to redesign the first Olympic sport?

Cycling - Jean Paul Gaultier
Jean Paul Gaultier is perfect to bring cycling to a more couture level. We are imagining a striped cycling outfit along with a helmet in the shape of a beret, perhaps? Add a drawn-in moustache and voila!.

Equestrian - Balenciaga by Nicolas Ghesquiere
Riding boots are too predictable. Instead, why not go for those Balenciaga wedged knee-high boots for the perfect pony look?

A Proenza Schouler bandage skirt could double as first-aid dressing for any fencing wounds. (Rahav Segev; Getty)

Fencing - Proenza Schouler
Proenza Schouler is perfect for fencing because you can wear your bandage skirt and be stylishly prepared for any injuries. You can continue to fence, even if you have been stabbed.

Gymnastics - Raf Simons
Since all of Simons's models have a perfect gymnast body, he understands the skinny, muscular physique best. Maybe it's time for oversized tops over leggings for the ribbon dance?

Weightlifting - Kim Jones
Jones's sensibility comes, in part, from Venice beach's bodybuilders. Thus, it only seems natural that he would design a new uniform for the weightlifting team. Maybe he can collaborate with Jamz?

Wrestling - Bernhard Willhelm
Bernhard Willhelm has already designed the perfect wrestling outfits. They are slightly sexier for an audience who is, um, into that kind of thing. Plus, they have a convenient hole for a quick restroom break in the middle of competition.

Shooters could take a hint from Viktor & Rolf's Fall collection and switch to staple guns. (Reuters; Getty)

Shooting - Viktor & Rolf
We think guns are passé. Instead, the sport should involve how far you can shoot a staple gun. Viktor & Rolf's Fall collection incorporates staples and it comes with ammunition.

Swimming - Marios Schwab
Rather than having to choose which color your suit is, Marios Schwab has the perfect solution: a color-changing bathing suit. You go in in pink and you come out blue!

Taekwondo - Dries Van Noten
Instead of wearing your typical white Taekwondo uniform, why not do a printed version by Dries Van Noten? He can even do a limited edition gold, silver and bronze belt just for the occasion. That way, everyone's a winner!

Tennis - Lanvin
Since this is known as the gentleman's sport, Lanvin is the perfect designer to bring formal dressing back to tennis. Sorry Nadal, the all black jersey is just not dapper. Instead, you'll need to sport a bowtie, grosgrain collar dress shirt and a perfect pair of pleated shorts.

Table Tennis - Opening Ceremony
Since we are obsessed with table tennis (we own 10 tables!) it only seems appropriate that we design the table tennis outfit. You might be wearing a short sleeved flare coat and some cut out heels, but they will meet table tennis regulations.

Archery - Comme des Garçons
With their signature polka-dot print, Comme des Garçons is the perfect designer to confuse audience/opponents as to who the (fashion) target is.

Triathlon - Bless
Since you will need three different outfits for this event, Bless is the perfect designer to create a three-for-one look. They can work with Nike to create an air fincleatmax.

Reflective gear from Patrik Ervell would help blind the competition during a race. (Patrick Ervell; AFP/Getty)

Sailing - Patrik Ervell
Wearing Patrik Ervell's gold anorak, you can blind your competition and stay in first place. If you win, you will match your medal perfectly. Accessorize!

Volleyball - Alexander Wang
Alexander Wang's silhouettes resemble the perfect 80's volleyball uniform: loose tank, double layers, and cutoff shorts. Why did things get so technical?

These are the known guests (to us) who will be attending the Olympics:

Yao Ming - Fantasy dresser: Thom Browne
Thom Browne is the perfect designer to dress Yao Ming. His signature shrunken suits would look adorable on Ming's height, maybe capri's for men can come back.

Zhang Ziyi - Fantasy dresser: Vivienne Tam
It seems appropriate that she wears that signature Mao/Warhol-esque dress to the celebration.

Cai Guo-Qiang - Fantasy dresser: Final Home
Since he is going to light up a great amount of fireworks, he should be dressed by a designer who has worked with fireproof materials. Final Home is the perfect designer to protect him in case anything goes awry.

999 times out of a 1000 I'd be all, fuck you, with your post-modern, post-ironic anchor tattoos, because they are with the exception of one in a 1000, fucking Jean Paul Gaultier gay and this homo-erotic look is good very rarely.

However, COACD found Dan at Red and referred to him as a new cool kid. Not wrong, the ink, the rosary, the black studs... could mos def do without the Ted Baker waistband though. If you're in that price bracket, got to be Calvin's. So, a little to learn, but fuck it right...

"Yeah I'm fucking sure, sailor me up dude with a big ol' anchor from nipple to crotch." Nice.

Crinoline, vita stretta, cappelli anni ’40 e accessori molto grandi e vistosi. Zatteroni alti, abiti molto Jackie’O, balze e tessuti leggeri.

Alessandra Facchinetti by Valentino crea una collezione nuova, fresca e incentrata su tessuti come cachemire, seta e organza.
