mixtechnisch könnte es besser sein. aber eine gute ausrede habe ich parat: nachdem die rechte timecode platte schön verbogen ist war es ziemlich schwierig das ohne fehler hinzukriegen. in anbetracht dessen ist es ganz gut geworden.

Crane-Grief – Filip ( FilipSongs)

The slow motion hurt of the internal. The minimal honest sketches conceived in a room underneath the bright crackle pop of the normal day. This is gentle bare bulb sway stuff. A voice , some instruments, a scratching at the heart, a stroke a fumble a chord or 20 thrown gently, carelessly. The songs take shape ask the shadows on the wall to dance, the wall is cluttered with memories of cracks and paint and other lives.

The singer and the old equipment make timeless tunes. In the future a lost boy or girl will play this album some hours after an Antony confession. That boy or girl will try to explain to the pop relative what it is in this hesitant rawness that can mend heartbreak and cause sadness at the very same time.

Most EMOtional  Disciples will simply not get it, and ask for another spoonful of gloss and powerchord, others will fall into this ancient brand new religion of secret songs made just for them.

This Is Grand Atlantic – Grand Atlantic (Popboomerang Records)

I kinda like that these two recordings happen to be reviewed in the same chapter of the NBT blog adventures. One is internal and minimal and full of the things that make love bite and sigh, and this is crazy beautiful, orchestrated to the max, dense and rich and rewarding AND full of the things that make love bite and sigh.

Listen to `Wonderful Tragedy’ and imagine  the Carpenters ‘Superstar’ done sweetly by Both the Flaming Lips and Mercury Rev backed with a sighing Orchestra and you some idea of the treats in store with this collection.

This is music that sweeps you away, that insists you fly through the clouds and dreams, it is music to be listened to with eyes closed and breathing slow, music that insists you get lost within the harmonies and soundscapes.

This isn’t just sweet ballads though, take ‘ Coolite’ a surge rock n roll confection, Big Star/Mathew Sweet  alternative pop power, driven along by subtle twisting grinning keyboards, and then ‘ Smoke and Mirrors’ a song that would feel right at home at a Hold Steady concert.

Para aquellos que pensaban que San Francisco se jactaba de ser la residencia de los mejores productores de minimal, Tech House asi como de tener a los dj's mas sobresalientes (VonStroke o Dj Sassmouth, entre otros) llega este año el nuevo album de Format B: un Duo aleman que no se preocupo por producir sino por desarrollar el mejor set posible dentro de la escena Tech House... ¿pretencioso? Sí... sin embargo, creo que lo han logrado. En gran medida, ésto fue posible por la minuciosa seleccion de tracks que darían vida a Steam Circuit.

Si eres de los que pensaron que Beats of San Francisco de Claude Von Stroke carecia de cualquier error denominandolo una pieza maestra del minimal techno, es necesario que escuches la propuesta de este duo aleman...

Tenía algo de tiempo queriendo ver este documental. Me enteré de él gracias a una recomendación de Bernardo. "Screaming Masterpiece (Gargandi snilld )" es un documental del director islandes Ari Alexander sacado en el año 2005 que relata la movida musical actual en Islandia, sus orígenes, sus razones, su evolución y sus máximos representantes. Incluso tocan un poco el tema de la historia de los primeros pobladores de la Isla y durante toda su duración muestras paisajes y lugares muy característicos de la isla.

El rock en Islandia tiene características que lo hacen único y muy distinto a las escenas musicales del resto del mundo. Esto se puede observar en este documental, donde muchos adentramos a él gracias a artistas como Björk, Sigur Ros o Múm, pero cuando uno se adentra un poco mas se da cuanta que ellos sólo son la punta de un gran iceberg, donde se encuentran una gran cantidad de propuestas creativas, variadas y muy interesantes.

Aleksandra is a Toronto deejay whose style will simply win you over. She sent me this mix to check out and I was drawn immediately. Although it is not minimal or techno right from the start (she opens with deep tech house and some soulful house), it picks up its pace once you reach the middle. Second half is more repetitive tech/techno that will remind you of something Villalobos would play. I would not recommend skipping one second of this set, it flows nicely together and takes you on a journey that ends with you feeling like you're about to go out and party; really gets your adrenaline goin'. I enjoyed this set so much, that I would label it a must download to anyone who comes here with an open mind and a desire to experience something new with tiny touch of minimal. You won't be dissapointed one bit, trust me on this one.

Bruno Real é o owner do netlabel Solidalab.com e acima de tudo um amigo de muitos anos. O menino acaba de lançar um novo mix cheio de surpresas e sustinhos. Um minimal quase house, difícil de rotular, mas a definição dele - no tópico do Resident Advisor - foi: from deep house to hipnotic techno with a brazilian touch.

Hace un rato que no posteábamos (¿existe ese verbo?) algo de electrónica y creo yo que hemos regresado a esa senda de una manera triunfal al presentarles semejante discototote.

Deadbeat, quien nació con el nombre de Scott Montieth en un pequeño pueblo cerca de Toronto, se dio el gusto de largarse a Berlin para explotar sus características como DJ y productor. Lo ha logrado y de qué manera.

Roots & Wire es un disco que, producido con la estructura de un set, nos transporta de manera oscura, casi gótica y con diferentes ritmos que van desde el Dubstep hasta el Tribal (imagínense la combinación), a un mundo sofisticado de beats coherentes y muy avanzados.

Un disco tan bueno que, si eres DJ, lo puedes poner completo mientras decides ir a ligar al backstage, embriagarte sin límites y regresar a las tornamesas unos segundos antes de que termine para hacerte pasar como un heroe del Tech House. Eso si nadie en el club ha escuchado Roots & Wire anteriormente (aún así, los asistentes te felicitarían por tan impresionante selección).

El mejor disco de Tech House que hemos posteado (mismo verbo inexistente en diferente conjugación) así que...

¿Qué esperas para bajarlo? (Rapidshare)

Aún en bable, creo que se entiende. Esta frase me la espetó mi abuela con catorce años, y es una verdad universal, la gran piedra filosofal. Es el tema fundamental del 99% de las canciones pop, y de las historias de los libros y pelis que me gustan. Así de simple, así de jodido. De ahí viene la frustración y la violencia. Ni películas de explosiones, ni represión política... sufrimiento gratuíto, poco práctico, espiritual, si quieren.

Como éste es un blog permeable a las críticas, y ha sido tildado de "demasiado político" en los últimos tiempos, voy a tirar por otros lares. Hoy.

Me gusta pasear por Serrano, dejarme embaucar por sus mentiras, que se agolpan atractivas en los escaparates, ocultando su precio. Me gusta cruzarme con pijas superguapas y superestúpidas, que dejan un hilo de eau de cologne, como el que perseguía la mofeta-del-amor, de los dibujos animados. Y tipos que parecen sacados de la fábrica de los Agag, pisando fuerte con sus Lottusse, viviendo de cuatro ideas neoliberales cogidas con las pinzas de sus pantalones. Me gusta.

Miro escaparates. Algunos me parecen obsoletos, como los de esas tiendas rancias de caballero, con maniquís amarillentos, donde equipan al hombre desde la camisetilla imperio hasta la corbata, objeto de regalo del día del padre. Otros me alucinan. El de Armani, con esos trajes para tirarte a una fiesta en paracaídas y caer sin una arruga, igual es un imposible. Un traje de 2.000 euros hace que mires su cristalera como si estuviera en el cielo, y tu cuenta bancaria te convirtiera en un ser liliputiense.

Mi favorita es Purificación García. Sencilla, pero muy elegante (no me convence que trabaje zapatillas de deporte, pero bueno), colores de temporada, pero cortes atemporales. Sus blazers eternos, sus jerseis de pico, sus camisas sencillas de algodón, y algunos trajes algo más revolucionarios, pero sin asustar. Me gusta. Minimal, fresco, líneas dulces, no pido más.

Tiendeando, si no quieres tener complejo de triste, o de viejo, tienes que acabar por Fuencarral, una de las calles que más violencia me transmite. Allí la gente se agolpa en sus dos minúsculas aceras vendiéndose, queriendo demostrar que cualquier día podrían vivir en Serrano, una especie de competencia, miradas por encima del hombro (y por debajo de la espalda), una mezcla entre grupos de gays con ojos de gueto, tristeza y mentones afilados, y jóvenes cargando con los grilletes del estar in, agitados por los sonidos discotequeros que salen, en forma de metralla sonora, desde las puertas de las tiendas. Tiendas que buscan un norte estético. Algunas muy cercanas a la personalidad, como SkunkFunk, y otras tan alejadas de todo gusto que casi dan vergüenza, como es el caso de Desigual, Kukuxumusu, Custo... (no todo vale, amigos).

Me gusta pasear por lugares tan ajenos, que te dan la sensación de ser un Neil Armstrong, con la bandera de la realidad en la mano, buscando una buena zona para decir lo del paso para el hombre... Mientras tanto te olvidas de que sigues intentando burlar la frase que te dijo tu abuela con catorce años.
