Había que extraditar a estos indivíduos y había que hacerse bajo las penumbras, en un horario en que la reacción es mínima o nula para evitar cualquier traba.

Había que hacerse porque sabían mucho y era preciso acallarlos, porque no se podía permitir que continuaran comprometiendo o mejor desenmascarando al capturado primo hermano del presidente de la República de Colombia, a los decenas de narcoparapolíticos detenidos, a otros cuantos que están en capilla , así como a narcoparaempresarios, narcoparapolicías y narcoparamilitares que también caerán, porque no se puede permitir que la “DEMOCRACIA PARTICIPATIVA” tambalee y caiga.

Porque hay que tener presente queridos lectores, que los extraditados esta madrugada serán juzgados en los estados unidos de norteamérica por narcotráfico y delitos de lesa humanidad, vale la pena preguntarnos en qué estado quedan los procesos de la narcoparapolítica acá en nuestro país y si cuando se requieran testimonios suyos para la justicia colombiana se pueden obtener.

Y qué pasará con el resto de paramilitares que no han sido extraditados y que ahora se encuentran en un grave estado de amedrentamiento, será que se sostienen en sus versiones iniciales o se verán obligados a negociarlas en favor de unos privilegiados del gobierno y en contra de los contradictores del mismo.

Para terminar, si el gobierno nacional y norteamericano conocen que los paramilitares continúan delinquiendo desde sus celdas, que gestión judicial han emprendido con los funcionarios anuentes.

I love my tattoo guy he is by far the best. This one is a butterfly that I am putting on my back. However, it is apart of a bigger envisioned tattoo.

Everyone thinks that I am addicted to tattoos now or some kind of masochist. This is not the case. I have just found a pleasure in the beauty of the art, the pain I could live without.

I know tattoos are the 'it' thing to do right now and everyone is finding themselves drawn to the parlor. All I say is don't get anything that you will regret 15 years from now because they say tattoo removal puts the actual tattoo to shame. The pain is definitely not worth it. Besides why would you want something on your body that doesn't mean anything to you or that will make you want to hide it from certain types of people.

Tattooing has been around for well over 3000 years. I think there is an emotional inclination behind that draws people to them but also pushes some people away. Or makes them stereotype those of us that are drawn to the ink.

A tattoo is definitely not for the weak minded individual; it is for open-minded and free spirited person.  I consider myself to be a free-spirit and I can say this because just 2-3 years ago I wasn't one. When you make the change you realize it because new doors open up to you. Don't get me wrong I still have a lot of doors that need opening but damn it I'm well in front of a lot and i mean A LOT of people that I know.

So if you're thinking about joining the clan please think long and hard before you make that decision. Or go get a piercing, lol, those can always be removed.

It appears that you are planning to bill your employer for the room and additional cab fare necessitated by the flight cancellation.  Any problem with this?  You might be surprised to learn that in every audience I speak to, approximately half believe it is perfectly fine to include these fees on their voucher.  They can’t see any reason why they should incur a financial obligation, since they were traveling on company business.  Is it fair to ask your employer to expend funds that were the direct consequence of a decision you made for personal benefit?  You are, in effect, asking the company to subsidize a portion of that “free” ticket sitting in your briefcase.  Anybody see this differently? Ever been in this situation?

I just am in love with it.

I thought that Obama would be able to close the margin in West Virginia, but none of the polls think he will. Obama went along with the outlandish prediction that he'd lose 80-20-- that's one way to tell West Virginians they don't matter. Anyway, I'd better revise my thinking last month that Obama would close the gap.

I find it amusing that Jerome wants to complain about "states which don't count" when it was Hillary Clinton's campaign who started the whole "some states count more than others" line.

Mark "It's Proportional Representation?!" Penn:

Could we possibly have a nominee who hasn't won any of the significant states -- outside of Illinois?

West Virginia shouldn't be ignored, but it isn't so important that the results there should overrule every other primary that has happened. Jerome wants to cherry-pick which states matter more than others, but I'm going to give him a hint, Obama won Virginia, a state which is four times larger than West Virginia, by a margin which is similar to what Clinton is likely to get out of West Virginia. To put this in more perspective, Clinton beat Obama in California by 9 points, while Obama beat Clinton in Georgia by 36 points. Even though California is roughly 4 times larger than Georgia, Obama's net popular vote gain in Georgia was only about 50,000 votes short of Clinton's popular vote gains in California. West Virginia will likely be comparble, not to Virginia, but to Louisiana (where Obama netted 10 delegates and 84,000 popular votes).

This descendant states that in his personal opinion, if anyone were to be haunting Hurst Mansion it would more than likely be Colonel Fielding's wife, Melocky Hurst. He says that it was told through the generations of his family that Mrs. Hurst was very saddened by having to leave her dream home and this is why he believes her spirit may still be there.

I was also told that many of the Hursts buried in this area are children that Colonel Hurst conceived with his slaves. He stated that the descendants of these children attend the family reunions to this day. I had read that he had children with several of his slaves. I can't remember if I read it on Kevin D. McCann's blog or on HurstNation.com, but it was one of those sites.

Por fin, buenas noticias!!!, no crispadas ni conflictivas, bocanadas de aire fresco, para regocijo de la muchachada que desea la paz y el amor, en el marco de la V Cumbre de América Latina y el Caribe con la Unión Europea, a realizarse en Perú desde hoy hasta el sábado 17 de mayo, se aguarda para la jornada del viernes 16 cuando se reunan los Jefes de estado y de gobierno, la hermosa presencia de Carla Bruni, a la sazón esposa de Sarkozy...también estará Cristina Kirchner...y por ahí, quién dice, tendremos la foto de ambas...,para alquilar balcones.

Llevamos ya, cuatro cumbres anteriores, 1999 en Rio, 2002 en Madrid, 2004 en Guadalajara y 2006 en Viena antes de esta quinta en Lima...en la oportunidad se reunirán 60 países, de ellos 33 son de América Latina y el Caribe y 27 de la Unión Europea...dos temas centrales en la agenda política de la V Cumbre, el primero " Pobreza, desigualdad e Inclusión", el segundo "Desarrollo sostenible: Medio ambiente, cambio climático, Energía"...todo un temario que marca las grandes preocupaciones de la actualidad, habría que sumar el tema alimentos y se redondearía el cuadro de situación casi global de los desafíos del inicio del siglo XXI.

Aparte de la presencia de Carla, es una incógnita en estas horas, si debutará Raúl Castro en estas lides internacionales, lo que es un hecho es la importancia que reviste para Perú y para Alán García, que el país sea sede del evento, en un momento que gracias a la minería, su macroeconomía muestra índices muy alentadores y su imagen internacional aparece en ascenso.

En medio de nuestra crisis, gobierno versus campo, es interesante pensar si la presidenta Kirchner, tiene la cabeza puesta en su participación en la reunión de Lima del viernes o en el acto en el Club Almagro de mañana, no es una cuestión menor esta disyuntiva, en momentos en que Argentina no está calificando bien en cuanto a atraer inversiones internacionales para los proyectos y el desarrollo nacional...lo cierto es que el acto de asunción de Néstor como presidente del PJ, no le aportará nada, en cambio la Cumbre es un escenario idóneo para posicionar al país y por ende a ella misma.

How to describe him
I really loathe Martin Mansergh. I'm afraid I think he's the most annoying man in Ireland. The best thing about this blog is going to be doing him. I want to start a competition to find the most appropriate single adjective to describe him – not counting unctuous or snivelling, which are too easy. I’m allergic to all his donnish wheezing. I recoil from the way he places words - a capacity that can come only from a lifetime thinking of yourself as an academic and a little bit clever. He places his words but then they solidify as his views. That’s my real problem with him. The views, the views, the views. How could he possibly think he could get away with it - with that demeanour? And yet he does!

Irglish
The thing about him is that he’s doing the half-English/ half-Irish act (a la Micheal Mac Liammoir or maybe Erskine Childers). But he is doing it badly and getting away with it. There’s so much over-compensation there you could unite the “British Isles” with it. There’s over-compensation on his part but the real spectacle is the over-compensation on our part – that Fianna Fail have EMBRACED him, that the down-to-earth good people of Tipperary South gave him no less than 6110 first-preference votes in 2007, that even the likes of Vincent Browne defer to him, that Sean Duignan said he found him “rather wonderful”. When describing Mansergh commentators’ vocabulary even changes. We enter the effete linguistic realm of “rather”, “somewhat’ and “the very stuff of”.

Implausible
My theory is that Mansergh is “barmy” but since we don’t have the concept in Ireland he is undiagnosed and usually gets away with it.

The Sunday Business Post described Mansergh as looking like a middle-aged Harry Potter.

Often his preposterousness is laid bare and it’s hysterical to watch, though the commentariat are too straight-laced or deferential to notice. Like a few years ago when it became clear after an article that rambled all over a page of the Irish Times that what he was saying was that he wasn’t an English spy, when no-one really thought he was (wouldn’t he be a bit obvious? I think they’d be better off with say Conor Lenihan). Or when he takes a line in favour of one-off housing that he must, as an Englishman, think is outrageous. He once wrote an article in the Irish Times implying that if only the IRA had looked up their history and seen that Mountbatten had been the last governor-general of India, that they would have decided not to blow him up. Of course, their researches would have uncovered a botched Partition that probably cost a million lives in 1947, and another million 25 years later when the postponed unravelling of East and West Pakistan finally happened. But Mansergh inexplicably seemed to see being a governor general as a sort of trump-card in the murder-avoidance stakes. But the funniest is his over-compensation by fawning over people who even Irish people know are ridiculous – like say well Charles Haughey or Bertie Ahern. He has no credibility as there is no-one he will not defend.

Haughey’s Puppy
In a history of FF called Taking the Long View, Mansergh derided people who "cribbed at [Haughey's] acquisition of wealth", who failed to realise that anyone who bought "farmland or indeed any property before the Sixties close to the city were bound to see it markedly appreciate in value, something that could happen just as easily to a middle class Labour politician".Haughey was the victim of "deep distrust of the success that was achieved largely by his own efforts, as opposed to that achieved with the assistance of comfortable connections".

Martin Mansergh was twit enough to edit the combined wisdom of Charlie Haughey – his speeches - in a book which he called Spirit of the Nation. In his introduction he wrote “Charles Haughey’s political career and achievements are unmatched among his contemporaries and he is the outstanding parliamentarian in the independent Ireland of the late 20th Century” Parliamentarianism you see being something our friend would be keen on. He also almost certainly lies awake thinking of somebody with a PhD editing his own speeches and saying he was a consummate/complete or ideally “great” (in the historian’s sense of course) parliamentarian. And he returns to this theme often. He is said to regard election to Parliament as the highest honour. Kevin Rafter says that "he believes that a citizen's ultimate task is to serve as a representative of the people". The complete honourable public man.

Can you imagine him with Charlie Haughey, all misquoted Shakespeare, sherry, bad hair and greasy bums. Surely having put your name to Charlie’s edited speeches you should quietly go off forever and join the Hells Angels or a monastery? But No. Mansergh took it in his stride. He’s upwardly mobile in politics. One to watch. A minister of State!

Bertie’s (high-pitched) Bulldog

His old-fashioned public-school views on men (See King’s School Canterbury official song line 28: “Hear thy sons, for ever loyal, tho' the sundering seas divide”) no doubt account also for his unwavering fealty to Bertie Ahern.

Last year when Bertie was proposing to pay himself a pay increase greater than the average industrial wage Mansergh went to the pointless bother of issuing a press release noting that 13,000 people get paid MORE than Bertie. But in the last month or so he’s really disgraced himself hitting the airwaves - apparently heedless to his own reputation - hissing, wailing gnashing and squealing about how unfair that damn tribunal is on Bertie. In particular performances on Morning Ireland and Tonight with Vincent Browne brought the house down. When Senator Eugene Regan criticized Bertie’s approach to tax he suggested that Regan was not entitled to criticise the Taoiseach because he was a senator of less than a year's standing and shreaked at him, “respect your betters”. The problem for someone who is supposed to be a republican is that you, and I’m sorry to say this because it may I suspect cause Martin emotional trauma, can’t have betters.

Republican?
He once described himself as having a "broad anti-imperialist outlook" but amusingly he has a broad imperialist LOOK. Above all he’s a “republican”. I suspect he would describe himself as a conservative republican and if you crossed Margaret Thatcher with Brian Cowen I think you would be coming close. In support of this, I recall he noted a few years ago in his Irish Times column that, "Kevin O'Higgins, who became a dual-monarchist, famously claimed: 'We were the most conservative revolutionaries ever’. De Valera in many ways fitted the description of a conservative republican in the best sense of the term”. One suspects dual monarchy would appeal to him for the same reason he has so much respect for governor generals.

Republicanism is something he filters through a mean lens. He promoted the Iona Institute’s view on gay marriage in a Seanad debate in October 2007 on the Labour Party's Civil Unions Bill. He infamously noted that introducing it would have a negative effect on tax revenue and that it was not a pressing issue in his constituency – not let us say the sort of rights-based approach you would expect of someone of his Parliamentary, Republican and Academic eminence.

Like his new boss, Cowen, he is also an established anti-secularist.

Evolution
I just can’t work out how he became the way he is. What happened to him in College that he became such an Oxbridge-FF hermaphrodite. I’d welcome the recollections of people who remember him at school (ideally his housemaster) or in Christ Church, Oxford (tutor), where, as we all know, he “read” Philosophy, Politics and Economics and obtained a Doctorate in French history. I think we’ll run with Martin for a while so please take your time.

Biography
I couldn’t bring myself to buy Kevin Rafter’s biography of Mansergh in case it was interpreted by some obscure statistician somewhere as some sort of endorsement so I limit myself for much background to a 2002 article in the Sunday Business Post by Pat Leahy.

Martin was born in Woking, Surrey, on New Year's Eve, 1946. Woking is the town where the Martians landed in H. G. Wells' science fiction novel The War of the Worlds. It also features in Douglas Adams's The Meaning of Liff, as the word for when you go to the kitchen but forget why.

After coming down from Cambridge n 1974 he entered the Department of Foreign Affairs by open civil service competition in 1974 and was promoted to First Secretary in1977. He worked on European issues, and served 2 years in Germany. He is a former Head of Research with Fianna Fail and Special Adviser to An Taoiseach. He was closely involved in Haughey's deal with Independent TD Tony Gregory in 1981. Unforgiveably in view of his reputation he opposed the Anglo-Irish Agreement of 1985. He wrote the paper which formed the basis of negotiations leading to the formation of the Fianna Fail-Labour Coalition 1992-94 and was one of the four-person negotiating team that put together and later reviewed the Fianna Fail-Progressive Democrats 'Action Programme for the Millennium' in 1997. He was responsible for dialogue with Sinn Fein leadership and with Church intermediaries, including those in touch with Unionist and Loyalist leaderships, before the first and second IRA ceasefires. He was a member of the Delegation and Steering Group for the Good Friday Agreement negotiations. In many of these negotiations Bertie was also on Mansergh’s team and he credits Bertie with never making a situation worse – quite a skill for a negotiatior. Can you imagine being a poor PD, Unionist or social partner facing into the early hours and Ahern and Mansergh: Oil and Water. I mean having to listen to AHERN and MANSERGH in the middle of the night. What if they did good cop/bad cop? Even Trimble didn’t deserve that.

He sought a nomination in Tipperary South as far back as 1982 but failed and first ran for Fianna Fáil as a Dáil candidate in the in the 2002 general election when he failed to be elected with 5,233 first-preference votes, just under 15% of the poll. However, Mansergh was elected to the 22nd Seanad by the Agricultural Panel in July of that year. In the 2007 general election he again ran for Fianna Fáil as a Dáil candidate in the Tipperary South constituency, this time being elected with 6,110 first-preference votes, just over 15% of the poll. He is also a member of the Council of State, having been appointed by President Mary McAleese.

Until 2006 he wrote a weekly column for the Irish Times, giving it up to concentrate on his constituency. He was the winner with Fr. Reid and the Rev Roy Magee of the Tipperary Peace Prize and was awarded a much-sought-after Civic Reception by Tipperary UDC in May 1998. What a pedigree for a windbag. He definitely should get that knighthood! He is married to Elizabeth Young who according to the Sunday Business Post is reckoned to be a very intelligent woman, has one son and four daughters and lives in a big old house in Tipperary Town.

Tipperary Man
Mansergh seduced his local party. Leahy quotes a “senior FF figure saying he was "particularly impressed by the way he went about his business in getting this nomination - Phone calls, letters, meeting councillors, whatever -- he refused to operate like a candidate from Dublin." Don’t they have meetings, phones, councillors etc in Tipperary? They’re so pleased he’s not behaving like he’s from Dublin (presumably all public transport, holidays in France and no letters) they haven’t noticed he’s from ENGLAND.

In 2002 the Sunday Business Post reported that when he had spoken to his local cumann seeking a general election nomination Noel Davern, incumbent TD, junior minister and guardian of the family seat for 30 years rose to respond. "You're not as innocent as you look," he told Mansergh with a smile. "And I'm not as stupid as I look". The normally laconic Pat Leahy implies this is a triumph of Fianna Fail big-tentedness but all I can think of is what a cross between Davern and Mansergh would look like. Say as stupid as Davern, as innocent as Mansergh but looking like a heifer with a quiff and specs. Three parts Healy-Rae to one part Winston Churchill. I might as well declare that my Manzer fantasy is Martin, Davern and a bunch of Tipp cumann boyos, naked, drinking sherry in the big house watching grainy 1950s footage of an angelic Martin in top hat and tails braying Jerusalem at evensong in King’s School Canterbury where he was at school. Each will have his or her own unique Mansergh fantasy and I would ask you to share it.

Manserghs
According to Leahy since 1700 Tipperary has been lucky enough to have Manserghs in the social mix. Mansergh rhymes incidentally with Panzer – as opposed to Panker.

In 1848, when Young Irishman William Smith O’Brien was found guilty of sedition the pleas for mercy began with the foreman of the Grand Jury, Martin’s great-great-grandfather Richard Martin Southcote Mansergh. The family farm, to which he returns from Dublin almost every weekend, is situated a few miles from Soloheadbeg, where the first shots of the War of Independence were fired in 1919. Mansergh himself spoke at the commemoration of that event in 2000.

The Manserghs were sympathetic to the movement for national freedom. His grandfather travelled to New Zealand, Australia and then to Africa where he worked on the Cape-to-Cairo railway. He was in South Africa during the Boer War, and like many of his class such as Erskine Childers and Major John McBride developed a sympathy for the Boers which translated easily when he returned.

The sympathies of Mansergh's father, Nicholas, may have been influenced by an event at the family farm during the War of Independence when the Black and Tans shot his pet dog.
Nicholas Mansergh went on to become a Cambridge historian, writing a number of well-received books on the Irish Question. Professor Joe Lee described him as "the supreme authority" on the Government of Ireland Act 1920, He certainly had nationalist sympathies and Mansergh says that his father identified with de Valera because of his "moral and intellectual stature”.

I am sure there was no better man to pinpoint this stature.

Today upon the due elevation of Nicholas to the heights of Minister for State with responsibility for the Office of Public Works and the Arts, the proud Mansergh tradition is again aflame.

Okay, I can understand their desire to get Kean's comments removed sharpish, but wasn't some kind of apology from the editorial staff necessary? Wasn't attempting to excise the entire thing without publicly flagging their actions very bad practice indeed?

Për herë të tretë, artikullin mbi Kosovën, tashmë të ri-titulluar “Republika Bastarde e Kosovës!”, e lexova ndërkaq, kur analisti dhe publicisti i Kosovës, z. Shkëlzen Maliqi, në Editorialin e gazetës Express, 3 Maj 2008, shfryente me shumë lehtësi, kualifikime të paqëndrueshme dhe gjuante në drejtim të javores gjermane, si me një “saçmaricë” të huazuar, një arsenal kualifikimesh, të cilat si të tilla dhe si përgjithësime, assesi nuk qëndrojnë...

E kuptoj drejtë, dhe besoj në vërtetësinë e shpalimeve që bënte Shkëlzen Maliqi, në reagimin dhe sqarimin e tij. Por, si të bësh me kualifikimet, vërtet subjektive e të pamatura që ai i bënë javores shumë profesionale e me renome “Der Spiegel”, kur shkruan në Editorialin e tij se: “Shkrimi tendencioz si ky i Der Spiegel, është si një tagër që duhet të paguhet lirisë së shtypit dhe të qarkullimit të ideve. Por, Der Spiegli nuk është se paraqet të vërtetën e fundit. Jo një herë kjo pasqyre e ka paraqitur Kosovën me imazh të deformuar, të shpifur, me gjysmë të vërteta, teprime, gënjeshtra“!

Tash, te gjithë ata që kanë lexuar artikullin e fundit për Kosovën, të javores Der Spiegel, në Koha Ditore apo në origjinalin gjermanisht - i cili pa dyshim se ishte shumë joafirmativ për shtetin më të ri të globit, dhe për atdheun tonë - dhe të cilët po lexojnë këtë Kolumne, me siguri se shtrojnë pyetjen: por çfarë ka ky Kosovari, ky farë B. Metaj, që po merr në mbrojtje një javore gjermane, po qoftë edhe Der Spiegel famëmadh, edhe përkundër faktit, se kjo e fundit ka baltos fytyrën e atdheut të tij - Kosovës? Bile po e bënë këtë, edhe për-kundër publicistit Maliqi, e i cili ia kish fut Spiegl’it, boll mirë...?
Kjo dilemë eventuale e lexuesit, nuk mund të zgjidhet mbi recidivet, mbi mungesën e patriotizmit tim...

Çështja duhet shtruar në një rrafsh e dilemë krejt tjetër:
- Çfarë të bëjmë, kur trishtohemi nga ajo çfarë shohim - kur kemi pasqyrën përballë?
Apo kur dikush, në këtë rast, “Der Spiegel”, i vë Kosovës pasqyrën përballë?
- Ta thyejmë pasqyrën?
- Ta për-baltojmë!
- Ta kualifikojmë si pasqyrë me prodhim të dyshimtë, e punuar nga ndonjë shërbim i huaj, me qëllime të errëta për Kosovën dhe shqiptarët?
Të themi se: «Jo një herë kjo pasqyre e ka paraqitur Kosovën me imazh të deformuar, të shpifur, me gjysmë të vërteta, teprime, gënjeshtra»

Jo. Duhet ta ndërrojmë realitetin e Kosovës.
Atë, pasqyrën që na e kishin vu përballë, redaksia e javores gjermane dhe publicisti i rryer, Walter Mayr, nuk ishte e prodhimit të dyshimtë! As me t`shtime...
Njëjtë, shkruante kohë më parë edhe një javore tjetër shumë prestigjioze zvicerania “Weltwoche”! Njëjtë gjejmë edhe në shtypin kosovar. Dhe me të drejtë.

Shkrimet, në të dy këto raste, ishin bazuar në shumë studime, analiza e dokumente internacionale e kosovare, si dhe në shumë deklarata të politikanëve shumë të lartë ndërkombëtarë, por edhe të përfaqësuesve politikë e të shoqërisë civile në Kosovë.

Kosova në ato artikuj, ishte Republikë Bastarde, edhe pa citimin fatkeq të Shkëlzen Maliqit.
Kosovës, ndërkaq, kanë me ju vu edhe në të ardhmen, shumë e shumë pasqyre përballë.
Në vend se ti thyejmë ato, ndoshta është më mirë, ta shikojmë veten drejt në sy...e ti përvjelim duart...

Después de ver el comercial -sin demeritar los esfuerzos que se hacen en cada país que goza de la inclusión de esta marca (propiedad de GM)-, no nos queda la menor duda de que, efectivamente, Hummer es un pequeño monstruo digno de respeto:

La agencia que atinadamente está detrás de este magnífico anuncio es la bostoniana Modernista! (que cabe señalar que en el nombre llevan gran responsabilidad; desde su sitio web -que es algo increíble- hasta su portfolio hablan bien por sí mismos).

El anuncio fue creado para el lanzamiento del H3, fue televisado por primera vez en el Super Bowl del 2006 y, aunque la promesa básica está un tanto pegada a Jeep (con este tema de que son "fuertes") funciona muy bien ya que la historia es algo totalmente innovador, es egoísta ya que nunca nadie ha tocado esas fibras y te engancha desde el primer momento.

La música también es maravillosa; te va llevando poco a poco y es parte importante de la personalidad del comercial, sin dejar de lado que la historia es realmente inteligente; el look "pasado de moda" de los monstruos le da un toque único, y el final hace que la marca quede como algo de mucho respeto.

Nosotros amamos este comercial, ¿ustedes no?
