Com o mais novo lançamento da Renault, é uma prova que a montadora está cada vez mais empenhada a desenvolver bólidos e a competir com montadoras que já fazem isso a bastante tempo (como a Mercedez ou a Fiat). Esta certo que, depois desta transformação, o Megane não é tão bem reconhecível por causa das profundas modificações sofridas em favor da esportividade.

Já é bem clara a diferença da estrutura da carroceria do modelo: para o desenvolvimento da aerodinâmica, as linhas do modelo tiveram que ser remodeladas, resultando em um ganho de quase 40% como um total. As entradas de ar na grade frontal e no alto do veículo proporcionam mais de 30 cavalos de potência. Seu motor foi tirado, e em seu lugar , bom, não exatamente no lugar, pois agora é um motor central, V6 feito graças a uma aliança da Renault com a Nissan proporcinoando potência máxima de 360 cavalos. A transmissão é semi-automática de 6 velocidades, utilizada através de borboletas atrás do volante.

Com tudo isso, os fabricantes do Megane mencionam que é necessário uma revisão a cada 5 mil km, com a obrigatoriedade de trocar diversas peças, a principio, não parece ser muito econômico. Umas das vantagens é que este modelo poderá ser adquirido para qualquer pessoa que tiver o Megane Coupé, onde é feita na fábrica da Alpine.

O resultado de tudo isso? Tempos de volta comparáveis a um porche GT3... Nada mal, não?

It was on a Porsche 911 Turbo and just goes to show that, if you're going to buy a car like that, you really need to splash out a bit more on a personalised plate, too, otherwise you just look like a cheapskate.

The plate in question was 7 NH. And it looked niiiiiiice.

     Companies like Chrysler LLC.  are building cars, trucks, minivans, suv's, and crossover vehicles that have quality that is unsurpassed in the world today.  That is why they have a Lifetime Powertrain Warranty!  Infact all American car companies have better warranties than their foreign competitors !  Today's car market is very competitive.  It is a volume game.  There are three American car manufacturers battling against over fifteen foreign names!

What happens when you buy a foreign car in America?

     Your foreign car may be assembled in America; but the steel isn't made here, the coal isn't mined here, and the parts are not made here.  The back end costs are higher on foreign cars because of this.  Insurance rates are typically higher also because all of the parts need to be shipped here.  Think about all the jobs that are lost here in America.  The company that makes the stamping equipment doesn't sell their wares, costing jobs.  The people that make the steel, deliver the steel, stamp the steel, and make the finished products don't have a chance to earn a dime let alone employe Americans.   All that money goes overseas too!  Then we have to pay interest on this money because we are running a trade deficit.  This interest cost prevents our government from providing services to us here in America!

     Everyone to a man wants to bring manufacturing jobs back to America, but we each need to do our part each and every day everytime we make a purchase.  America is a consumer driven market.  Nobody else can change our current state but us!  We need to take responsibility for our countries trade deficit.  Every dollar not spent on foreign products is a dollar that we don't have to pay interest on, and thus more money that we have to spend on improving our own lives!

Lets call on our Government to pass laws that makes business want to stay in America!

     Lets call on our government to pass laws that encourage companies to stay in America!  And, lets pass laws that benifit the companies that stay here and pay taxes here! 

Just what is a Foreign Car Company in America today?

     Just in case you are to young to remember when Nissan was called Datsun; foreign cars are Toyota, Nissan, Honda, Lexus, Infinity, Acura, Volkeswagen, Volvo, Mazda, Mercedes, BMW, Hyuandai, Kia, Mini Cooper, Jaguar, Porche, Bentley, Bolls Royce, Subaru, Audi and more.  Just look at what American Companies have to contend with. 

     I am not knocking foreign car companies.  I am knocking the perception that their cars are higher quality and more dependable.  Consumer Reports has just let out that they have been giving Toyota an AUTOMATIC RECOMMENDED rating for years without even testing them.  It is only now that severe quality issues have surfaced, and they have changed this policy.  They ACTUALLY review their cars now!  American cars have been getting bad press for no apparent reason for so long that people believe it now.   You know, tell a lie long enough and it becomes the truth!

     Lets keep American Cars on your list of must see vehicles!  Buying American Cars brings Jobs Back To America!  Do this by putting American cars back on your list of must see cars, and stop in and look around!  Once you see what we have to offer, it will be difficult to see the foreign cars in the same light!

El Porsche 356-001 fue el primer prototipo de la marca recibía su homologación oficial como vehículo para uso en carretera. El modelo 911 fue el que sirvió como «conejillo de Indias» para el primer ensayo autorizado sobre emisiones contaminantes en Europa, allá por el año 1966.

 

Si por algo se ha caracterizado la firma germana, es por los deportivos de carreras. Vehículos como el primer 356 o las series 911 han competido en diferentes modalidades Racing. GT3 y RS. Las dos siglas (acrónimos de Gran Turismo y del alemán Renn Sport, carrera deportiva) son equivalentes a la máxima expresión de la velocidad. Ningún trazado, ni terreno se le ha resistido: Le Mans, Indianápolis, Montecarlo... tanto en Fórmula Uno, GT’s y también en el Mundial de Rallyes.

 

Cayenne: Así se llamó al todoterreno de la marca, que fue lanzado en 2002 en el Salón del Automóvil de Ginebra. Es uno de los 4x4 de lujo preferido por los conductores españoles.

 

En España se comercializan cuatro modelos: Boxster, Cayenne, Cayman y 911. Dichos modelos se venden con diversas mecánicas y acabados, lo que suma un total de 23 versiones. Desde 50.705 euros: el modelo más económico en el mercado español es el Boxster, cuya versión básica cuesta unos ocho millones de las antiguas pesetas. El más caro, el 911 GT2, que sale por algo más de 204.000 €.

 

Los 120 millones de resultados que arroja la página de búsqueda de Google dan una idea aproximada del éxito de Porsche también en Internet. La marca automovilística tiene cientos de foros en la Red y unas docenas de clubes de aficionados, los más, y coleccionistas de los modelos. El Club Porsche España, es uno de los más activos y veteranos (ya tiene 25 años) de nuestro país y organiza frecuentes salidas, cursos y demás actividades con sus miembros.

 

Here is my take on the various luxury brands out there:

Tier 1 - top of the line, ultimate luxury

1. Maybach - the classiest of the three. I would have to choose a Maybach to be driven around in, over the next two.
2. Rolls Royce - so classic, but rather old fashioned by new (see Mercedes down below).
3. Bentley - becoming very cool with super high luxury sports cars like the GT, but still number three.

Tier 2 - the elite for the average person (talking about the higher end models, not the entry level 3/C/A4/IS)

1. BMW - Their tag line says it all, 'the ultimate driving machine'. BMW's are great, model after model has lead the rest of the industries design (even if people have hated the designs when they were released).
2. Audi - Audi is a major force to be reckoned with. The R8 is one the the most amazing cars ever released, the A5 is gorgeous, the Q7 (though last one in) has pushed the luxury SUV market further out there. I expect that Audi can be my number one in just a few years.
3. Mercedes - Old school (see Rolls Royce). The new S is an amazing top-of-the-line vehicle and the new C is a bit more cutting edge, but the brand is old, boring, and a poor value for the price.
4. Lexus - The car that parks itself is rather cool as well as all the hybrids. The ride is the smoothest you will ever experience, but that's it.

Tier 3 - more affordable brands, more mainstream

1. Jaguar - It is a shame that Ford sold Jaguar.  Some would say that Jag is tier two, I would have said it was #5 in tier three until the XF. The XF is the nicest Jag ever. Let's see what happens next.
2. Infiniti - First the G35 coupe, the new G35 sedan, the M, and now the FX. At this rate, Infiniti could be a even more major player in this tier. But first they need to release a higher-end/larger model than the M.
3. Cadillac - I can't not include Cadillac, but the brand is older than Mercedes in my mind. The CTS helped a bit but then you have the DTS. Yup I didn't forget the Escalade, but that is not at the core of the brand.
4. Tied for 4th: Acura and VW - Acura's are more upscale than Hondas, and VW is less than Audi but that doesn't really offer an identity for either.

Sports Cars - to me these just don't fit in the lists above, but probably be tier 1.5

1. Aston Martin - If 007 drives one then I can drive one too. They are just gorgeous. Perfect.
2. Maserati - I am torn to stick this as #4 in tier one, or put it here. The cars are brilliant, but they have been a bit stagnant the past few years.
3. Ferrari - Black or red, enough said.
4. Lamborghini - Yellow or black. #2 because the designs are a bit to out there for me.
5. Porsche - To be honest, I am just getting tired of the brand. The Cayenne didn't help, we will see how the 4 door Panamera will work out.

What do you think? Where did I go wrong, where am I spot on?

It is unique because it is not open to public and features only members of the trade. It is also known for what could best be called a "casual" dress code. SEMA 2007 was filled with sight of cool vehicles of every size, shape, color and category. Here are a few extreme or unique vehicles found at the SEMA o7. 

Scion tC: Tweaked by a pop artist Ron English using electroluminescence decals featuring English’s ying-yang artwork, Scion tC pulled a lot of crowd at the SEMA 2007. This tweaked up tC is also lowered 1¾ inches with Eibach springs and rolls on 19-inch custom Coddington billet wheels.

Pontiac Solstice SD-290: This sleek concept car has custom 19-inch wheels and Hoosier Racing tires. Under the custom hood is an Ecotec 2.0 liter turbocharged engine that produces 290 horsepower.

Mercedes SL 600: SL 600 was one of the crowd pulling cars at the SEMA 07. The reason for it's popularity is the number of Swarovski crystals attached to the vehicle’s body to give it its sparkle. The crystals not only cover every inch of the car’s exterior, but also parts of the interior, including the center console, door trim and rearview mirror. 

Toyota Camry: Toyota Camry at SEMA 07 was one among the extreme cars due to its unique modification's. While its front doors are lengthened and modified, its rear doors are molded into the body of the car. The center of the roof is cut out and the door handles and mirrors are shaved.

Audi A1 Concept has a more masculine in the mini class. The new Audi concept is equipped with a 150 bhp 1.4 TFSI engine. The length of the Audi A1 concept is 3.910 mm and the width is 1.750 mm. it hosts 4 people. It has a fuel capacity of 240 liters.

Bugatti Veyron is designed to be very light and is a true performance vehicle. Veyron is the ultimate sports car as it’s the quickest accelerating and decelerating road-legal production car in the world. It’s skillfully built with aluminum components. A special version called Per Sang (literally in French – Pure Blood) launched in September 2007 reveals pure aluminum-carbon fiber body.

Chevrolet Camaro is North America’s Pony Car. We’re currently witnessing the fifth generation of the Chevrolet Camaro. The Chevrolet Camaro Concept is a new prototype has a manual transmission with 6 gears and a chassis developed for stability, with independent suspension for all the four wheels. It uses Active Fuel Management technology that allows fuel consumption optimization.

Ford Mustang is an automobile produced by the Ford Motor Company, originally based on the Ford Falcon compact. Comprised of Ford parts designed specifically for its excellent performance, each and every component was engineered to perfection, from the Ford hood up to the Ford Spoiler. Ford spoiler is among the Ford Mustang Parts that help's in maintaining its high performance and also satisfies one's appetite for a jaw-dropping ride with that certain flair.

Lamborghini Reventon iis the most extreme vehicle built by Lamborghini. It’s a mid engine sports car made with carbon fiber components. Reventon brings other improvements to the engine cooling system, the air intake and the braking system. The Reventón is named after a fighting bull from the Rodriguez family which fought with the Felix Guzman bull in the year 1943, defeating him.
