Untu post kali nie, aku nak terjah balik Concert Stand Up For Cancer yang baru jer ke udara kat NBC, ABC ngan E! beberapa jam yang lalu.

Setelah aku tengok performance 13 selebriti bergabung suara dalam single charity ‘Just Stand Up”, satu perkataan yang berlegar dalam pikiran, “spectacular performance”!

Acara nie berlangsung kat Radio City Music Hall for the 5th Anniversary of FASHION ROCKS pada 5hb September, semalam. Kat bawah nie adalah beberapa photo yang aku curi (hehe!) kat mariahdaily.com, gambo- gambo nie aku ambik sempena press conference kat Conde Nast Media Group's Fifth Annual Fashion Rocks.

Secara peribadi, aku suka ngan segelintir selebriti yang tersenarai untuk berkolaborasi macam Mariah Carey (absolutely!), Beyonce Knowles, Leona Lewis, Rihanna ngan Carrie Undrwood, erm...Fergie too!

Tapi yang selebih nyer macam main tangkap muat jer, macam si Miley Cyrus tue. Dia tak boleh langsung perform live dan betul- betul macam disaster bile wat duet ngan Rihanna dalam satu part tue. Vokal dia memang ke laut! Ashanti plak aku tak pasti pe peranan dia dalam lagu nie sebab takda satu line pon yang letak dia nyanyi secara solo, kalau sekadar nak meriahkan pentas, baik bawak Nicole Schzinger sekali sebab dia pon tak leh nyanyi live, arap rupa cantik jer.

Dalam persembahan nie, Beyonce Knowles diletakkan posisi tengah – macam besa lah tue! May be sebab dia wat intro untuk lagu nie kot. Tapi aku rasa touch-up Beyonce macam makcik- makcik sket. Carrie Underwood ambik posisi selepas Beyonce dan macam besa gak, dia nyer vocal memang superb dan sesuai diletak dalam 3 baris lagu.

Rihanna dan Miley Cyrus wat duet untuk bridge lagu sebelum korus. Rihanna berada di hujung barisan, may be sebab dia tinggi kot. Miley Cyrus yang baru jer menang Female Teen Choice kat Teen Choice baru- baru nie plak melalak ntah pe- pe, dia nampak over-excited jer. Ye lahh…new comer, then dapat plak wat kolaborasi ngan artis yang jauh lagi senior. Makin gedik la dia.

Yang len so far so good. Aku rasa tak da masalah ngan Fergie ngan Sheryl Crow sebab they always know what their did. Keisya Cole pon bawak ngan bagus gak cume aku rasa lenggok vokal dia lebih kurang macam Leona Lewis.

Tepukkan gemuruh bila masuk 3^rd Verse semasa Mary J. Bridge ngan Mariah Carey ambik tempat. Cuma sayangnye, senasib ngan Leona Lewis, Mariah Carey tak dapat nyanyi banyak line walaupon sana- sini orang bercakap pasal dorang. Tapi Leona ngan Mariah da diberi ruang untuk wat teknik whistle kat penghujung lagu. Namun, Mariah Carey tak ambik ruang nie ngan baik bile dia sendiri tak tonjol sehabis mungkin high-pitch dia. Vokal dia terlalu weak untuk performance kali nie.

Pe- pe pon, performance nie bukan sekadar meghimpunkan most-talented female singer, tapi lebih daripada tue sebenarnya lagu nie adalah sebauh lagu yang terlalu indah yang kuat dari segi seni kata yang dituju khas buat mangsa- mangsa kanser.

Aku arap bukan hanya kerana bulan ramadhan, tetapi untuk hari- hari biasa gak, aku arap kita sume sentiasa sedekahkan sebuah doa dan bekalkan dorang ngan segala kekuatan untuk kawan- kawan, saudara- saudara atau sapa- sapa yang kita kenal yang diketahui penghidap kanser. Mungkin bagi kita, dugaan penyakit kanser tue adalah ketentuan Tuhan yang maha menentu hidup dan mati, tetapi bukan kah doa untuk boleh mengubah takdir atau destiny kita?

Aku bukanlah ustaz untuk bercakap hal agama tapi sapa- sapa jer yang ada pengangan agama masing- masing kena percaya pada kuasa doa yang menjadi senjata untuk melawan serangan dugaan yang tak dijangka.

Aku arap ramadhan ini akan menjadikan kita sentiasa beringat. Bukan sekadar beringat kepada yang lapar dan dahaga, tapi beringat kepada mereka-mereka yang perlukan doakan sebagai satu supplemen tambahan buat mereka untuk terus berjuang melawan kanser.

Aku ambik kesempatan nie untuk membawa kita untuk doakkan abang kepada sahabat aku, Nik Mohamed Haikal Bin Nik Mohamed yang mana abangnye masih terlantar dia Hospital Sungai Buluh atas penyakit yang tak diketahui, Mohon Tuhan berikan hikmat dan kekuatan untuk dia sembuh dan mintak agar beban kesakitan yang ditanggung akan berkurang.

Itulah RAMADHAN TO REMEMBER aku untuk sume.

Death Cab For Cutie’s Live EP

Autumn also brings with it DCFC's tour to promote world-wide, and a little closer to home, the aforementioned EP and their latest LP Narrow Stairs. Not only will they be hitting up Europe and some major venues like New York’s Radio City Music Hall, but they are scheduled to open for Neil Young for some Canadian stops (Wilco will link up with Young, following DCFC).

One organ eluded him, the largest Wurlitzer organ ever made—the one at Radio City Music Hall.  He contacted the hall and told them his story, but they said the organ is only available to those who rent the entire building.  He decided to do just that.  He rented the entirety of Radio City Music Hall and hosted "An Evening with Jack Moelmann."

The cost of the hall was over one hundred thousand dollars.  To recoup a bit of  that he did a little advertising (which led to a lot of free publicity) and sold tickets for fifty dollars apiece.  He sold around a thousand.  Many were sold to people who had never heard of the man or were even especially interested in organ music—they simply wanted to be there to see the man realize his lifelong dream.

I don't know about you but if I was in New York last week, I'd have been in the front row.

We continue the celebration with another beautiful example of transcendental musical exploration with this acoustic version of the lighter-than-air journey appropriately titled, BIRD SONG. This one is from Halloween 1980 at Radio City Music Hall. As discussed earlier, it is another example of the free-form exploration taken by these musicians and their audience. It is a delight. I'm sure you'll agree.

I want to go and check out the Rockefeller Center again, and catch a show at the Radio City Music Hall, and if it's during summer, I have to take a jog in Central Park. There's also Times Square, the Empire State Building, The Statue of Liberty. Geez, the list goes on and on the more I think about it.

The problem is that I've been there twice, once in summer and once in winter and I can't decide which time was better. The great thing about the East Coast is the fact that they actually have four seasons unlike Arizona, where it's only warm, and as hot as poop. I think the trip will actually need to be an extended one. I would like to go long enough to be able to show my girl all of the interesting sights and such. The next problem, would be finding affordable lodging. Hopefully I can stay at a pretty nice hotel in New York city at a decent rate. One thing is for sure though, the trip will cost a pretty penny but it will be worth it to make my girl happy.

This Thursday, 600 Tibetan and western Buddhists from around the world, including 200 monastics, join with one voice to demonstrate against the Dalai Lama outside of Radio City in NYC where he will be speaking. In this unprecedented event, more than 100 Tibetans will participate in the Western Shugden Society (WSS) organized protest to speak out against the man who has been touted as an icon of peace and tolerance. Many Tibetans are now feeling very encouraged by the success of the Western Shugden Society demonstrations. Most Tibetan Shugden practitioners are too intimidated by the Dalai Lama and the Tibetan Government in Exile to protest against the Dalai Lama. However, the number of Tibetans at the demonstrations is increasing rapidly. A Tibetan Geshe at the recent protests at Lehigh University said "In the Tibetan settelments in India if Tibetans were to protest like this, they would be killed." So it's no wonder that many Tibetans are still too intimidated to join the protests. But as these protests continue to gain momentum more Tibetans are joining in to request the Dalai Lama to give religious freedom.
