I need to practice sketching.
If I practiced, I would be more confident.
But I still find it a little difficult to sketch 'soft' products. How do you sketch something like stiching in actual perspective? Or am I allowed to just "sketch what I see", since its a shoe?
I am looking forward to next Monday [fall break] so that I can have my first "Me" day in a long, long time.
I don't really remember the last time I had a day without any prior commitment of any kind.

Geeze. I'm feeling pretty burnt out today.

Last week I uploaded this picture of my old old old (4+ years now I think) running shoes to Flickr. I then received a message asking why I had thrown them away and could this person have them. He wanted to pay for shipping and the shoes themselves. I told him that he was too late and I had already thrown them away. Then I received this message today:

"I am really sad now, as I have to imagine that a pair of great shoes (even if they were totaly worn out, dirty, smelly, broken or had some holes) is now resting somewhere in between disgusting trash in the landfill, or even is incinerated.

I am interessted in most pairs of old sneakers, no matter what condition they are, but this one was special, as this style of shoe in exactly these colors is still missing in my collection, and I absolutely want to have it. So it was a very rare chance to fill the gap in my collection, and therefore I am in a very sad mood now as this chance is irrevocable over.

I always have to think: why did you have to ask me back for a confirmation, and why didn't you rescue them the very moment you recieved my first mail. Ist the chance really over - What do you mean by "The shoes have been taken out already"? Has the weekly garbage collection emptied the tras cans, or has the dustbin in your room/flat been taken out to a bigger collective trashcan outside where they still could be searched if I paid you enough

Sorry, I don't want to incriminate you with theese lines, I just had to write down my thoughts and I will be looking forward to your next pairs of shoes. Please don't forget me when you want to get rid of them, and perhaps you could post some pictuers before. If you know that some of your friends have some sneakers to trash, please always think of me too. And just that you do not have to ask for confirmation again: If I am interessted in a pair of shoes I will certainly always pay for the shipping. (shipping more pairs at the time saves shipping costs) you can also contact me in the future at tsn@thesneaker.net

I hope to hear from you again

Greetings Misternike

PS: No shoes ever deserve an end in the trash as they were loyal companions over a long periode of time, and they share a lot of memories with you."

Uhm, yeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah. No.

I had no intention of buying anything. Then my credit card started singing from my wallet "Use me, you know you want to". And just like that, I was in a shopping mood!

I saw one of those shopping cart cover things that I'd been looking for so Thing 2 can sit in the cart and get out of the sling. Last week grocery shopping I though I was going to throw my back out with tub-o-lard slung to my body. So I HAD to buy that. I had to!

Then I saw these Born clogs that fit my foot like they were made for them and felt like I was walking on a cloud. God wanted me to have these or he wouldn't have put them in my view, right? And so they became mine.

Next, guilt set in. I got home and called the hubby at work. I told him a bought some things, to get mad now so that when he got home he'd be over it, LOL. I was all set to have to do the deed last night (after the debate) to make him forget about my purchases. Luckily he was fine with it. He thought I had finally gotten Thing 2 the $250 car seat I've been saying I was getting him, so the shoes were no big deal.

SCORE!

High net-worth consumers rated Berluti the most prestigious men’s shoe in the 2007 Luxury Bran

High net-worth consumers rated Berluti the most prestigious men's shoe in the 2007 Luxury Brand Status Index (LBSI) survey from the independent New York-based Luxury Institute ( www.LuxuryInstitute.com ). Ferragamo and Prada Sport were rated second and third, respectively.

Berluti ranked first for a brand that is unique and exclusive, worn by people that are admired and respected and making one feel special across the full customer experience. Additionally, those who would recommend the brand cited its innovative design and styling.

"While a lot of attention is paid to high-end women's shoes, men are also quite discriminating when it comes to their footwear. Not only are they looking for quality and comfort, but want a shoe that has distinctive styling. Men's high ranking of Prada Sport (in third place) indicates that desire for style and flair extends to sport, as well as dress shoes," said Milton Pedraza, CEO of the Luxury Institute.

"As an independent, non-conflicted entity, we go directly to the high net-worth consumer and deliver their collective voice for the benefit of all constituencies. Since this is a highly competitive race for their dollars, it is critically important for an impartial entity to deliver unbiased, consumer-based ratings of the top men's shoes," added Pedraza.

Following are the 18 men's shoe brands that were rated (in alphabetical order):

1. Alden
2. Allen Edmonds
3. Armani
4. Bally
5. Berluti
6. Bruno Magli
7. Church's
8. Cole Haan
9. Dolce & Gabbana
10. Ermenegildo Zegna
11. Ferragamo
12. Gucci
13. Hugo Boss
14. Louis Vuitton
15. Prada
16. Prada Sport
17. Ralph Lauren
18. Tod's

The proprietary Luxury Brand Status Index (LBSI) survey is the only measure of the prestige of leading brands among wealthy Americans. A national sample of over 880 wealthy American men, with an average income of $310K and average net-worth of $3.7 million, was surveyed online. Survey results are weighted to match demographic and net-worth profiles of the same audience according to the latest Survey of Consumer Finances from The Federal Reserve.

I adore the British. Only they can get away with using words like 'strumpet' in a sentence without coming out sounding like a dork. But naming shoe colours that? Hmmm... you know what I think I'll let them do that, too! The new pumps from Adam n Eve are chunky, a little bit old fashioned, but perfect for that outfit where you want comfortable heels that don't look like they'll snap if you put on a pound or two. They're the perfect accessory for an outfit where you don't want your shoes stealing the show, unlike one of their previous posts, the glorious Babii Pumps which you can build an entire outfit around and they'll still be the centre of attention. But hey, with colour names like Fjord and Strumpet, who couldn't administer some love on the Alicia pumps?!

And hey, they're half price for the next few days! Woooo!

You know how it is with FashCon. Notices popping up at all hours of the night, while you're right in the middle of something, and you take a cursory glance before clicking them away. It's sad but true, and something we all do. Lucky for me, while I was preparing last night's post I took an extra moment to read a notecard that came up on from a little place called Biddle Boots. I wasn't expecting much, since I'm super-picky about boots at the best of times and in the middle of the night I'm just plain crabby. So imagine my surprise when I opened the pictures, and immediately fell in love with the tiny pink ankle boots contained within.

I have a Thing for pink. I'm not afraid to admit it. For many years I denied it. I didn't even like Barbies growing up. Well, I've come to think of pink as red's sexy younger sister, and that works just fine for me. That picture seduced me with its siren song, and dragged me kicking and screaming right down to their newly-reopened main store to check out what wares they had on sale. At first I was surprised, so pretty but so few. There's only three types of boot - one knee, two ankle - available in only four colours each, but the colours themselves were gorgeous. From the smooth, saucy blacks to the sultry reds, every colour has its own special personality. To quote Alia, "That electric blue color makes me want to rub these boots on my dirty parts." I bet she will too, filthy pervert that she is. This is why I wont share my clothes with her!

Raw sex appeal aside, there is one thing that's a slight turn off about the boots - the price. With the ankle cuties and ankle boots priced at $400L and $600L respectively, and the knee boots coming in at $800L, they are priced above 'market average', but not ridiculously so. I'm sure I'll be lynched for saying this, but I do prefer the cut of the BB boots to the new Stiletto Moody knee boots, but I'm content to mark that up to personal preference. Besides, the BB knee boots are still $600L cheaper and they have one very potent selling point over many other in their class - they have a built in texture change menu for the heels, soles and chains with fourteen different options to choose from. They also have an inbuilt AO and heel clicks, which I personally will never use but I know some people love. And while I'm not generally a fan of resizer scripts over mod, the resizers in the knee boots were easy peasy to use and worked really well.

All in all, while the price is a bit of a mood killer, these boots are so gorgeous that you must have at least one pair in your closet.
YUM YUM YUM. These are in my most favourite colour and look so friggin awesome on the model. I want them sooooo bad but at 672.13 pounds exactly there's NO WAY they're in my budget in any way shape or form, unless you'd like to buy them for me? By Marc Jacobs on net-a-porter.

These next shoes, I'm so undecided on them, I sort of dont want to post the picture in case I scare any potential readers away with bad taste. But I just find them so.... amazing! How does this sort of idea exist in anyones brain?!

Miu miu on net-a-porter.com

They're like wearing bees on your feet!

I've been so busy lately renovating my bedroom, it's a mammoth task for a person like me! I've so many ideas and I want to find a way to implement them all but my budget and space doesn't let me. I can't wait to finish, I promise I'll post photos! Even if it's just so i can remember how it once was tidy and spotless!

So anyway, I mucked around with that dress/sack. I made it into a sort of singlet thing. It's quite lovely now. I'll post pictures as soon as I find my camera charger!

The Hitchhiker’s Guide to lose a Girl was meant to be a unique work of literature in reply to

The Hitchhiker's Guide to lose a Girl was meant to be a unique work of literature in reply to the Hitchhiker's Guide to lose a Guy. The author of the book had intentions of writing about what one needs to do in order to lose a girl, but couldn't really come up with more than one way of doing it. So the guide became a collection of pitfalls to avoid in the process of losing a girl with two words written on the inner cover of the book in large bold letters.

EAT GARLIC

The author had no hope of selling even 1 copy of the book but in a sheer probability of 2,456,896 to 1 against, luck favoured him and he was able to sell exactly 8,765,917 copies of the book, which incidentally happened to be his Taxpayer indentification number that he had got after applying for exactly 9 times with the Income Tax dept and of course 2,456,896 was the Phone number of Ladies Hostel in his college, which is what inspired him to write the book. This book became the best seller in the lines of "Does GOD have an Attendance register?" by Dichard Rawkins and "Human is a being" by Cheepak Dopra.

The hero of our story Earther Bent simply hates Garlic. If Earther is left in an Island full of Garlic and has nothing to eat but Garlic, he would rather use the shell of the Garlic to slowly cut his wrist and die a lonely death than surviving by eating it. He hated it that much. So when his mother sneaked a Garlic into his bag while returning to his college hostel, he found it and crushed it with his feet and kicked it away. It could have been the only Garlic he had.

Earther is one of those who believes the book would help him lose his girl friend Briticia Makkumilan along with her annoyingly depressed Cat - Darvin, but misunderstands the pitfalls to be the guiding steps, and tries them one by one. It is not his fault really, the book is electronic and it gives out one pitfall at a time as you tap it. And so, Earther is out to lose his girl friend Briticia or Brish for short.

TELL HER YOU LOVE SOMEONE ELSE

If you ever try to say this to your girl friend you have to make sure you are atleast 5 feet away from her. But, Earther was so eager to lose his girl, he didn't read the "CAUTION" message that came out beeping from the book. It is advisable to have a single tea with bun from the local tea shop before doing this.

Earther: Hi Brish, I am in love with someone else, sorry!

The next thing he knew Earther was found sleeping on a hospital bed lying flat on his tummy. He was about to be taken in for a minor procedure in order to remove a Size 7 High heel shoe that was embedded 5 inches deep into his rear (which could have been 3 inches if Earther had the tea and bun and caused himself to constipate). It is one (Divine) feeling when something comes out of A hole and it is another (brutal) feeling when sharp things are pushed inside.

Darvin: Oh Great! I have to spend another stupid day, Shoe shopping with her!

TELL HER YOU ARE TRANSFERRED

This is a highly specific case and will work only on a certain class of Individuals who work in a transfer prone job like District Collector, Sub Inspector, US Temple Priest, or a Software Engineer. But Earther was just a lazy college student with a knack of incomplete reading, and so he thought that this particular category applies to him too and comes out with a seemingly brilliant yet totally stupid excuse:

Earther: Hi Brish, I am getting transferred to London, UK next week.

Brish: To do what? For what? To fail in your exams and receive "U" grade in London. Is that much more respectable than achieving it in India? Or did you take up a job of a Janitor in the Tube (Subway train station)?

Under normal circumstances, a person hearing this comment will be hanging upside down from the Tamarind tree just to let out the feeling of anger and shame from his brain, but Earther was too numb from the painkillers taken from the previous in(ac)cident.

Darvin: I bet the Janitor job is more satisfying than doing a job of cute little kitten in her hands!

TELL HER YOU DRINK AND SMOKE

If you don't really do something, you have to be careful when you lie about it. Earther is someone, what most people would call in college as Fruit face. The most intoxicating experience he has ever had was by drinking the spoilt milk (served as curd) in the hostel mess. So obviously his excuse of being a drunk moron who lets out smoke from every opening in his body didn't strike too well.

Earther: I drink a lot and smoke. In fact I am very close to getting a drinking problem.

Brish: Which brand do you smoke? I smoke a lot and whenever I smoke I cannot help but sip some vodka from my water bottle filled with vodka. I think we should see a therapist together.

Another flop plan from Earther.

Darvin: Oh Humanity, It is better to stay intoxicated than undergo the depressing suffering of consumerist life!

USE IMPROBABILITY SCREWDRIVER:

Improbability screwdriver is a small object, which when used to turn a knob in the book, will turn you into a random object, take you away from your current girl friend and make you a boyfriend of another single girl, instantaneously. It is highly risky as it may lead you to a girl that you may not like, but it was a risk that Earther was willing to take.

The feeling when you operate the improbability screwdriver is very close to the feeling when you take your brain out of your skull and look at it while beating your ear with the other hand. This is the exact same feeling you will get by drinking Tantramatic Tea-Twister, more commonly known as Iced Tea with Thai Chilli sauce.

Earther puts the screwdriver into the knob and turns it clockwise exactly 23 degrees as written in the manual (23 was the bus number that Earther used to travel, to go to movies). In one instant, Earther turns into a scare crow made of hay and quickly turns back into his original form, with a few bunch of hay still stuck in his ears. Amazingly with a probability of 4,876,134 to 1 against, a number that amounted to the total number of people to ever have crossed the ladies hostel, Earther is left back with his original girl friend. It was the 143rd possibility out of 278 possibilities when you turn yourself into a Scare crow from the improbability screwdriver. 143 stood for I Love You (I - 1 letter, Love - 4 letters and You - 3 letters).

This could mean one of the two things with equal probability:

1. Earther cannot dislike any other girl more than Brish.

2. Earther and Brish are made for each other.

Darvin: Can I borrow that Screwdriver? I need to drill a hole in my head and see if I feel better.

TELL HER YOU ARE GAY:

This is a commonly misunderstood reverse trap. While this works on Men, it really doesn't work on Women. This is because a Man's brain is filled with nothing but the 3 letters X,S,E (not in that order) while a Woman's brain is filled with A-Z, a-z, 0-9,!@#$%^&*() 8,765,917 times (same as number of copies sold, Pay attention! and oh, not in that order). So this is what happened:

Earther: Hi Brish, I am Gay.

Brish: Oh, that's so cool. We can now be friends for ever. We can hang out together, may be we can have a Makeover party, I can do your nails and you can do my hair. It sounds fun! Yippieee!

Apparently Earther didn't know how to anwer to that reaction and just muttered 4 letters - P,A,R,C in the reverse order.

Darvin: Oh! atleast you have 3 letters in your brain stupid man!

EAT GARLIC:

Now Earther is at the last and only step that he can do but he really doesn't like to do - Eat Garlic. Worse, he had crushed and kicked away his only Garlic that his mother gave or so he thought. He nervously puts his left hand into his pant back pocket and is surprised to see a piece of Garlic left out from the big lump that his mother gave. With utmost disgustion he puts that small piece of Garlic in his mouth and chews it.

Earther: I think you misunderstood Brish. I was saying I was Gay as in I was happy. I am very happy to be with you. I love you, In fact I want to spend the rest of the life with you.

Brish: Oh, Earther! I knew you loved me.

Darvin: Oh Garfield, the Cat God! This is more depressing than a Karan Johar love story.

Earther swallows the Garlic piece. The juice of the Garlic reacts with the stale Sambar rice he had in the mess in the afternoon. Garlic reaches the stomach and enhances digestion so much that it creates a by product in a gaseous state. Brish gets close to Earther to kiss him. Earther is now giving a sheepish grin as he approaches Brish's lips. Brish's face is now showing some discomfort from the stink coming out of Earther's mouth and just then Earther relaxes to set off the byproduct filling the atmosphere surrounding him and Brish with a smell of bad sambar, rotten egg and chinese sesame oil mixed together.

Brish: Oh ... Yuck ... You stink! Don't you ever come near me again! I hate you. Get away!

Brish pushes Earther away and runs into the Hostel towards the left to her room.

Darvin: Not that you really care, but your room is on the right!

Earther walks off merrily singing the tune: "So long ... So long ... So long..." and finishes it merrily:

"So Long and Thanks for all the Shoes!"

So apparently there’s more to shoe shine than meets the eye. It’s supposedly as America

So apparently there's more to shoe shine than meets the eye. It's supposedly as American as apple pie, and the ubiquitous presence of shoe shine shops speaks as much of the psyche of the country as it does of the places that lacks them.

In his article for the New York Times, op-ed columnist Roger Cohen compared America's free-wheeling entreprenuerial culture to its more anaemic reliant Western cousins, writing how the shoe shine trade highlights the two continents' stark differences.

There’s something about having someone applying polish to a blithe client’s boots that comforts American notions of free enterprise, make-a-buck opportunism, and the survival of the fittest.

There's something to be said about people who don't mind getting grit under their fingernails in order to earn cold hard cash. Friends in advertising and banking tell me the shoe shine guys still peddle their trade around their offices, and earn a decent amount every day from doing so. In their own ways, they have helped to polish corporate America's image.

During my conversations with the Minas and other shoe repair men on Wall Street, I've come to see them as embodying the New York, and American, spirit. They come from far away lands - Minas from Greece, and Jacob from the Soviet Union - and work hard to build up their shops and hang on to their customers.

And don't call them mere shoe shine men. They do more than that. Over the years, they have diversified their businesses to do shoe repair services too. When I went to Minas' shop on a Saturday, he was busy working on a pair of custom-made knee-high boots for his customer, a model. They were made out of beautiful goat-skin leather, and they demonstrated his expert craftsmanship, skill and business saavy. These boots cost as much as $10,000.

In his article, Cohen wrote:

What I find interesting right now is that no-shine countries are taking a hard look at the state-heavy system that created societies where the incentive to take a job like polishing shoes was low to nonexistent, while shine-rife nations are asking if unfettered capitalism’s hidden hand might not need a little more state guidance.

I do think that no job should be deemed too menial for someone wanting to get a toe-hold in the economy. We're not living in a caste-divided society where one cannot break through his station in life. Through hard work and ingenuity, the shoe shine boy could become the shoe mogul in time. And such hope might lead to a more vibrant entreprenerial culture overall.

So really, there is something to be said for a shoe-shinometer.

Etonic Mens GS101 Golf Shoes by .. Joseph Murphy ()
Probably the most comfortable golf shoe I have worn. Very stylist, well made and really look good. Was leary of the gripping power of the built in sole spikes, but after use they have the same gripping power as regular spider golf spikes. In fact probably have better gripping as the way the sole is made and spacing of the built in spikes. I would highly recommend these shoes to anyone. I am an advid golfer and have worn, Footjoy's, Nike's, Florsheims, and Etonics. These shoes are equal or exceed the previous ones that I have worn, particular in comfort.

Etonic Mens G-SOK Split Vamp Golf Shoes by .. R. VU (Houston, TX United States)
Would love to claim that these shoes gave me 20 more yards on my driver :-), but they are so much more comfortable than all my previous FootJoy shoes, for much less. Good bang for your bucks, highly recommended.

I think it could be a fun project, the result could potentially be pretty funny (would have to think of a good place to put it) and it could also be a commentary on the impact our society is having on the environment.

The mandate that courts in the United States obtain personal jurisdiction over parties is one of the

The mandate that courts in the United States obtain personal jurisdiction over parties is one of the cornerstones of the law in western legal systems and is regarded as a fundamental human right. Personal jurisdiction has had an interesting evolution in the common law which has recognized three bases for exercising judicial jurisdiction over the party: consent, presence, and domicile. A century or more ago these bases of jurisdiction were usually adequate in providing a convenient forum for litigants. As technology progressed, however, populations became more mobile and interstate corporate entities became the norm. The law and the courts were somewhat slow to adapt and often resorted to distorting the traditional grounds for jurisdiction in an inefficient attempt to accommodate the new needs of the judicial system.

Implied consent was one such fiction that the law invented in an attempt to squeeze new problems into the old framework. It was first employed to effect jurisdiction over corporate entities engaged in business in the forum state. Afterward it was extended to real persons.

One cannot criticize the legislature and judiciary too harshly; they were trying to find a way to tackle the new problems that arose. The real error was in persisting with an obsolete framework for so long. The simple model articulated in Pennoyer v. Neff and other seminal cases in the early approach to personal jurisdiction was ultimately abandoned in favor of the modern paradigm first articulated in International Shoe Co. v. Washington.

"Home Impressions #6"
© Copyright Rafa Torcida

For unusual, creative photos, photograph objects that form patterns and repetitions. Just make sure you heed the guidelines for composition that we've discussed previously in the Photobird Daily, including the Rule of Thirds, and fill the frame, which typically seems to work best for patterns and repetition.

For example, check out the photo above by Rafa Torcida entitled "Home Impressions #6". The hardwood floor provides the interesting pattern, while the sandals aligned in the lower-left Rule of Thirds intersection provides a focal point and helps break up the repetition of the wood forms. Without the sandals, the photo would look more like a floor sample at a home improvement store than something you'd consider hanging on the wall of your house.

An article at the Digital Photography School website entitled "Using Repetition and Patterns in Photography" explains two great ways to deal with patterns. You can either emphasize the patterns or break the patterns.

When you emphasize a repetitive pattern by filling the frame, you can give the impression of size and large numbers. For example, the stepping stones in Rafa's "Home Impressions #1", and the unique ceiling in his "Far Above the Clouds" both give us the impression that these objects could go on forever. At the very least, we don't know exactly when they stop. They're definitely repetitive.

The key to these types of photos is to zoom in close enough to the objects so that their patterns fill the frame of your photo and so that the photo gives the impression that the objects go on forever, even though they might just stop right outside the frame.

The other way to deal with patterns is to break the repetition, by adding a contrasting object with a different color, shape, or texture, or by removing one of the repeating objects. For example, in Rafa's photo "Home Impressions #6" shown above, the sandals break the repeating pattern of the zigzag shape created by the wood pieces in the hardwood floor. It's important where in the frame you place the object that breaks the pattern, with the Rule of Thirds being a popular consideration, but definitely not the only creative option.

Be sure to read the entire article and see a few more pattern photo examples in the article at the Digital Photography School.

1. The lace is run straight across the bottom and emerges through both bottom eyelets.

2. The laces then go straight up and are fed into the next set of eyelets up the shoe.

3. The ends are crossed over and are fed under the vertical lace section on the opposite sides of the shoe before going straight up and into the next set of eyelets up the shoe.

4. At the top set of eyelets, the laces can once again cross over and pass under the straight section as shown. This not only looks consistent with the rest of the lacing but also forms a High Lace Lock, which tightens the lacing even more firmly.

1. The lace is run straight across the bottom and emerges through both bottom eyelets.

2. The ends are looped back under the lace where it feeds under the side of the shoe.

3. The ends are then crossed over each other, then they go under and out through the next set of eyelets up the shoe.

4. Steps 2 and 3 are repeated until both ends reach the top eyelets.

1. The lace runs straight across the second set of eyelets from the top of the shoe.

2. Cross the ends over and feed into the fourth set of eyelets, skipping the third set.

3. Continue down the shoe, two sets of eyelets at a time.

4. At the bottom, run the laces vertically between the bottom and second from bottom eyelets

5. Double back and work your way back up the shoe through the vacant sets of eyelets.

1. The lace is run straight across the bottom and emerges through both bottom eyelets

2. The left (red) end is spiralled up the left side of the shoe, with the end fed under and emerging from each eyelet.

3. The right (orange) lace is spiralled up the right side of the shoe, at each eyelet looping through the left (blue) lace in the middle of the shoe before feeding under and emerging from the next eyelet.

1. The lace is run straight across the bottom and emerges through both bottom eyelets.

2. One end of the lace (orange end) runs straight up the right side, is fed into and runs straight across the second set of eyelets.

3. Both ends now run straight up the left side, each skipping one eyelet before feeding in two eyelets higher up.

4. Continue running both ends across the shoe, then straight up two eyelets at a time.

5. At the top of the shoe, the laces end up on the same side and the shoelace knot is tied at that point.

1. The lace runs straight across the bottom and the ends are fed into both bottom eyelets.

2. One end of the lace (orange end) runs straight up the right side, emerges from and runs straight across the second set of eyelets.

3. The other end (red end) runs diagonally underneath and, skipping the 2nd set of eyelets, emerges from and runs straight across the 3rd set of eyelets.

4. Continue running each lace diagonally across and up 2 sets of eyelets until one end (orange in my example) reaches the top right eyelet.

5. The other end (red in my example) then runs straight up the left side to emerge from the top left eyelet.

1. The lace runs straight across and emerges from the third set of eyelets from the bottom.

2. Both ends run straight down and are fed into the second set of eyelets from the bottom.

3. Both ends again run straight down and emerge from the bottom set of eyelets.

4. Both ends now run straight up along the outside and are fed into the fourth set of eyelets (the first vacant pair).

5. The ends are crossed over each other, then they go under and out through the next set of eyelets up the shoe.

6. Repeat step (5) until both ends reach the top.

1. The lace is run straight across the bottom and is fed into rather than emerging from both bottom eyelets.

2. The ends are crossed over, then inserted into the next set of eyelets up the shoe.

3. This process is repeated until both ends reach the top eyelets and end up inside.

1. The lace runs straight across the bottom and emerges through both bottom eyelets.

2. Skipping two sets of eyelets, cross the ends over and feed into the fourth set of eyelets.

3. Both ends now run straight down one eyelet and emerge from the third set of eyelets.

4. Continue up the shoe, each time crossing over and going up three sets of eyelets, then straight down to emerge from the next set of eyelets below.

1. The lace is run straight across the bottom and emerges through both bottom eyelets.

2. The ends are twisted together with one complete twist in the middle of the shoe.

3. The ends then continue across to the opposite sides, where they go under and out through the next set of eyelets up the shoe.

4. This process is repeated until both ends reach the top eyelets.

1. The lace runs straight across the bottom and emerges from both bottom eyelets.

2. Cross the ends over and feed into the 4th set of eyelets up the shoe (skip past 2 sets of eyelets).

3. Both ends now run straight up and emerge from the 5th set of eyelets

4. Cross the ends over and feed into the 2nd set of eyelets up the shoe (skip past 2 sets of eyelets).

5. Both ends now run straight up and emerge from the 3rd set of eyelets.

6. Cross the ends over, feed under and emerge from the top set of eyelets (skip past 2 sets of eyelets).

1. The lace is run diagonally and emerges from the bottom left and the top right eyelets.

2. The top (red) end of the lace is zig-zagged from the top set of eyelets down to the middle eyelets in a similar manner to the Shoe Shop Lacing.

3. The bottom (orange) end of the lace is similarly zig-zagged from the bottom set of eyelets up to the middle eyelets.

1. Start with two pairs of different colour laces, preferably the wide, flat variety (I was lucky to receive two such pairs with my last runners!).

2. With one colour (orange in my example), lace the shoe using either Straight (Fashion) or Straight (Lazy) Lacing.

3. With the other colour (red in my example), start at the bottom of the shoe and weave the lace in and out of the other lace until you reach the top.

4. Fold around the top lace and head back down, weaving out and in until you reach the bottom.

5. Continue across the shoe until you're out of room or out of lace, whichever comes first 6. Tuck all the loose ends of the laces into the shoe.

1. The lace runs straight across the bottom and emerges from both bottom eyelets

Since I was busy with the gray shoes I'm about to buy at Nine West Al-Akaria Mall, I didn't have the time to browse their fall-winter collection which was already on display. But when we were going out of the branch, these two caught my eyes:

White sandals.

Deep purple clutch.

Argh, I sighed in disappointment. I know I couldn't buy them right now because they're way out of my budget! (Around SR300 for each!) I would have to wait for the end of the year sale and wish they are still available by that time. Sigh, sigh, sigh...

*** These are the first two of my Nine [West] wishes. Oh, maybe it won't just be nine but what the heck.

Customer reviews

Not as Comfy As It Should Be by .. Gypsy Tejas (Idaho)
I have this in yellow. It's as cute as can be, BUT it is not very comfortable. I kept it because it's cute but COle Haan is not as good as they used to be. After two new pair this year, I am not buying any more. I found that they are running wider in the M width than they used too and this particular shoe runs a tad short. No more Cole Haan forme !
