<p>Today I discovered the <strong>mkisofs</strong> command, a general linux command not specific to Ubuntu. This command enables you to make an ISO disk image of any folder or group of files on your hard drive or external media. I used it today to make an ISO file of a CD which appears to have worked perfectly using the following command</p>
<blockquote><p>mkisofs -o EPSON.iso /media/cdrom0</p></blockquote>
<p>As far as i know the -0 paramater signals that we are giving the command an output file (in this case EPSON.iso) followed by the path to the cd drive which contained the CD i wanted to make an ISO from. This command has literally hundreds of paramaters which are explained better than I would even attempt <a href="http://linuxcommand.org/man_pages/mkisofs8.html">here</a>.</p>

<p style="text-align:justify;"><strong>MADIUN - </strong>Meningkatnya jumlah calon penumpang membuat Terminal Purbaya, Madiun mengoperasikan 75 armada bus untuk tujuan Kota Surabaya dan Jakarta.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">"Sebetulnya kita sudah optimalkan semua armada bus untuk mengangkut penumpang. Namun karena membeludaknya jumlah penumpang, memang ada sebagian penumpang yang sempat terlantar," ujar Kepala UPTD Terminal Purbaya, Kota Madiun Sutarto, Minggu (6/10/2008).</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Dalam pantauan di lapangan, penumpukan penumpang tidak hanya terjadi di Terminal Purbaya, Kota Madiun, tapi juga di sejumlah halte pemberhentian bus di wilayah Kota dan Kab Madiun, Ngawi, dan Magetan.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Selain itu, calon penumpang bus juga banyak bergerombol di tempat-tempat pemberhentian bus yang biasa dipakai.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Situasi yang sama juga terjadi di Stasiun Besar Madiun. Ribuan calon penumpang berjubel untuk bisa mendapatkan tiket kereta api ke berbagai kota tujuan. Kereta Api (KA) kelas ekonomi seperti KA Logawa, KA Sri Tanjung, dan KA Matarmaja, dijejali penumpang. Selain itu, sebagian calon penumpang KA juga kecewa karena KA yang ditunggu terlambat datang 1-2 jam dari jadwal semula.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Kepala Stasiun Besar Madiun, Lamawi Hidayat, mengatakan, puncak penumpang arus balik Lebaran di Stasiun Besar Madiun berlangsung kemarin.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">"Hingga siang ini jumlah penumpang mencapai 18 ribu orang. Sebagian besar di antaranya hendak menuju ke Jakarta, Bandung dan Surabaya," ujarnya. <strong>(Muhammad Roqib/Sindo/uky)</strong></p>

Dazu muss der Reisende lediglich seine Flugnummer, bspw. LH123, LH 123 oder Lufthansa 123, in die Suchmaske eingegeben und erhält daraufhin Informationen zu Abflugs- / Ankunftszeit, Terminal und Gate sowie Angaben zum jeweiligen Status ("Im Flug" oder "gelandet"). Mit dem mobilen Dienst ist es möglich, von unterwegs aus Suchabfragen für Fluglinien zu machen, die bspw. keine mobile Webseite oder ähnliche Services vorweisen können.</p>
<p>Aus Sicht eines Reisenden eine tolle Ergänzung zu den bisherigen lokalen Informationen (Wetter, POIs, Bilder) die Yahoo OneSearch bietet.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Si ya llevas algún tiempo utilizando tu sistema operativo GNU Linux, seguramente ya utilizas una serie de programas cotidianamente en que será muy util optimizar el tiempo para acceder a ellos.</p>
<p>Lo que haremos entonces será hacer <strong>atajos de teclado</strong> para<strong> ejecutar tus programas</strong> favoritos en forma muy <strong>rápida.</strong></p>
<p>Hagamos una lista rápida de los programas más utilizados.</p>
<p>Terminal.</p>
<p>OpenOffice: Writer, Calc, Impress, Base</p>
<p>Gimp.</p>
<p>Etcétera.</p>
<p>Ahora bien, debemos conocer como se ejecuta en línea de comando cada programa (en la terminal).</p>
<p>Para Terminal tenemos:</p>
<p>xterm (terminal muy simple)</p>
<p>terminal (apretando alt+f2, escribes terminal y aparece)</p>
<p>Para Openoffice:</p>
<p>Editor de Textos: oowriter</p>
<p>Planilla de cálculos: oocalc</p>
<p>Presentaciones: ooimpress</p>
<p>Base de datos: oobase</p>
<p>Para GIMP, editor de imágenes es:</p>
<p>gimp.</p>
<p>A continuación se muestran imágenes para acceder a las configuraciones, utilizando el escritorio XFCE, siendo similar para GNOME o KDE. Se busca en configuración de sistema "teclado" o "keyboard".</p>
<p>Nativamente en GNU Linux no viene configurada para ninguna accion la tecla "super", mas conocida por la ventanita que tiene estampada, ubicada entre las teclas crtl y alt.</p>
<p>Para los atajos de teclados recomiendo ocupar las teclas que no se ocupan para las funciones comunes en tus programas, se usará entonces la tecla "super".</p>

<p>Para GIMP (editor de imágens) se dispuso que se ejecutara con el atajo:</p>

<p>To start out this post I'm going to pose a simple question. What can you do faster, type out ten words on your keyboard or click 10 different icons spread around your desktop.  Most people when intially posed this question respond that clicking is faster.  This may be the case <em><span style="text-decoration:underline;">if</span></em> the icons are really close and you don't know how to type, but as soon as you have very basic typing skills it becomes much easier to type commands then to perform a visual search, followed by moving and then clicking a mouse.</p>
<p>If you know what your doing you can almost always perform the task many times more quickly and efficiently in the terminal. In fact you will eventually learn that there are many things that can really only be accomplished in a terminal. The terminal like most things in linux isn't designed to be easy to learn, but easy to use.  The learning curve is steep but once you've reached the top you'll be doing thins faster and more efficiently then you ever could using the GUI.</p>
<p><strong>What is a terminal?</strong></p>
<p>A terminal is an application that lets you control or interact with your computer using a <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shell_(computing)" target="_blank">shell</a>. Shells are basic programs that interact with the operating system of your computer. I don't want to get much more deep then that; however, if you want to know more the wikipedia articles are great. There are several terminal programs: Konsole, Terminal, XTerm.  I will be using Terminal exclusively. Also there are several types of shells, each with a different set of commands. Like most modern linux distributions Ubuntu ships with <strong>Bash</strong> but there are several different shells that can be installed if you like.</p>
<p><strong>So I've opened a terminal now what?</strong></p>
<p>With a terminal open you should see something like: <em><strong>username@computername:~$. </strong></em>The ~ says that you're in your home directory and the $ sign means that the shell is waiting for commands. If you're familiar with DOS <em><strong>~$</strong></em> is like  <em><strong>C:Documents and Settings/User_Name/</strong></em>.  Think about you computer as a tree.  The root of the tree is <em><strong>/ </strong></em>with directories as branches and files as leaves.  A branch can have sub branches but leaves cannot. A leaf is the end node and can have nothing attached to it.  Your terminal is like a monkey sitting on a branch. The monkey can climb up branches, climb down branches, or do something to the leaves.  You can like this monkey climb around your file-system like its a tree.</p>
<p><strong>Basic Commands:</strong></p>
<p>I am not going to provde a comprehensive list of commands but rather go over several commands that I use regularly:</p>
<ul>
<li><em><strong>ls </strong></em>list the contents of your current directory, like DIR but better</li>
<li><em><strong>cd &#60;dir</strong></em>&#62;<em><strong> </strong></em>change directory to dir, dir must be a subfolder of where you are currently located</li>
<li><em><strong>cd .. </strong></em>change directory, go up one directory, if you are located in  /home/user/Folder <em><strong>cd .. </strong></em>will put you in /home/user/, note the space between cd and ..</li>
<li><strong><em>cp &#60;src&#62; &#60;dest&#62; </em></strong>Copy what is at src to dest, when copying folders include <strong><em>-r</em></strong> to recursively include the folder contents</li>
<li><em><strong>mv &#60;src&#62; &#60;dest&#62;</strong></em> Move what is at src to des, when moving folders all contents will be move automatically</li>
<li><strong><em>sudo &#60;username&#62; &#60;command&#62; </em></strong>Switch User DO, executes a command as another user, <em><strong>&#60;username&#62; </strong></em>can be ommited and the <em><strong>root</strong></em> user will be assumed</li>
<li><em><strong> . </strong></em>a period is the shortcut for where you currently are.  If you are located in /home/user/dir1/dir2/dir3 typing  <em><strong>cp  -r /home/user/data/</strong></em> .  will recursively copy all of /home/user/data to /home/dir1/dir2/dir3/data</li>
<li><em><strong>~ </strong></em>this is a shortcut for <em><strong>/home/&#60;username&#62;/ </strong></em>use can use it in almost any command like</li>
</ul>
<p>For a great list of possible commands check out: <a href="http://www.ss64.com/bash/">http://www.ss64.com/bash/</a> It's hardly comprehensive but it is a good start.</p>
<p><strong>Doing more with Basic Commands:</strong></p>
<p>You may have noticed the  <em><strong>-r</strong></em> I added to the <em><strong>cp </strong></em>command. Most commands can take options which are either a letter after a - or a word after --.  To see what different options are available for a command you can read the man page (manual) for that command by typing: <em><strong>man &#60;command&#62;</strong></em> or you can see the help prompt by typing: <em><strong>&#60;command&#62; -h </strong></em>or <em><strong>&#60;command&#62; --help</strong></em>. Most commands can take one or many command line options allowing for some really powerful commands.  These commands are what make the terminal such a powerful tool that take it way beyond anything you could do with a GUI.</p>

As you type commands into the configuration mode, they immediately take effect. For example, if we change the router's name, we see that the very next line contains the new router name:<br />
Router1#config terminal<br />
Enter configuration commands, one per line. End with CNTL/Z. Router1(config)#hostname MyRouter<br />
MyRouter(config)#^Z<br />
MyRouter#<br />
As you can see, we changed the router's name to MyRouter, which was immediately processed. This concept applies to everything in the router's configuration mode.</p>

Does your Open With menu look similar or worse than mine above? Maybe, maybe not. Finder uses <code>LaunchServices</code> to determine which file types may be opened by which application. The problem is that it does not get updated often. So after a few updates or installs, the list can become clutttered with duplicate entries. You can resolve this by running the following command under Terminal (found at /Applications/Utilities/Terminal.app):</p>
<p><Font color="red">IMPORTANT NOTICE: THOUGH IT MAY LOOK LIKE THE COMMANDS SPAN MULTIPLE LINES, YOU SHOULD TYPE THEM INTO ONLY A SINGLE LINE. DO NOT ADD MANUAL LINE BREAKS.</FONT></p>

<p>Starting on October 4th, 2008 - which is a Saturday, all the platform numbers for buses and trains will change at Union Station. Right now, GO's Union station uses a series of numbers and letters (for example Track 1, 2, 3A, 3B, 4A, 4B, etc.), but this practice is no longer used in North America or in other places.</p>
<p>In order to improve readability and to streamline the process, the numbers will be used. In order to assist fellow passengers, GO Transit staff will be on hand to assist passengers on where to catch their bus or train.</p>
<p>Think of this way - imagine if one router suddenly goes down or if there's a topology change, all of the neighbouring routers must have their routing table updated to reflect the change. This is also true, if one link is down and the packets need to route to another way to get to their destination.</p>
<p>Anyways, I hope that you guys will get to and from your train in a timely and safe manner.</p>

Esto claro se debe a que en linux tneog todos los daemons habidos y por haber al inciar sesion. Eliminé varios de ellos innecesarios, y aunque ahora el tiempo era de nuevo mas rapido que en windows (cabe mencionar que a windows lo tengo bienc ontroladito de no iniciar ni una solo aplicacion al iniciar sesion) me quedé con nostalgia de aquella velocidad de un fresh install.</p>
<p>Decidí entonces crear un usuario en el cual no tuviera nada mas que lo absolutamente necesario al iniciar sesion, he ahi donde si con el primer problema.</p>
<p>Creo mi usuarios con el GUI "usuarios y grupos", de la manera comun y corriente como lo habia hecho en el pasado y a la hora de querer entrar a la sesion del nuevo usuario me marcaba que no existia. Regresaba a la ventana de usuarios y grupos y veo que no esta el nuevo usuario que antes ya me habia aperecido, ahora ha desparecido :O</p>
<p>Insiste varias veces con cuidado de hacer todo los pasos correctos y nada. Entonces voy a internet y veo que no soy el unico con el problema.</p>
<p>Long story short... Solo se puede a través de terminal.<br />

<p>Listo! usuario creaod, PEEERO este usuario esta muy limitado, no podia hacer casi nada mas que usar le escritorio y los programas principales... lo que está bien, pero prefiero que tenga los mismo permisos que mi usuario normal.<br />
Al fin de cuentas seré yo mismo y quiero poder hacer todo lo que hago en uno con otro.<br />
PROBLEMA... no encontre como cambiar los privilegios de usuario desde terminal. Encontre como especificar el grupo del usuario al crearlo por lo tanto...</p>

<p>Por lo que leí agregarlo al grupo admin es la  mejor opcion, por lo menos e acuerdo al tipo de uso que he mencionado.</p>
<p>Mas adelante en la historia sin querer y por andar menseando borré el usuario root... el cual pense que era yo quien lo habia creado en el pasado... lo cual es cierto pero al ingresar <code>sudo userdel -r root</code> me ha borrado el usuario que cree y aparte los datos de root, entre ellos el password de root -___-</p>
<p>En fin, me preparo a formatear mi maquina respaldando todo.</p>
<p>Es bueno ser un poco descuidado como yo, pues no es la primera vez que me sucede algo parecido asi que cada vez que formateo es minima la cantidad de informacion a respaldar.... ^.^</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>This is a notice to anyone who might be interested in my open-source <a href="https://launchpad.net/windows-ssh-server">Windows SSH Server</a> project. Windows SSH Server is a project I started earlier this year as an attempt to fully implement an SSH2 server using the .NET 3.5 framework (primarily C# with a bit of C++ for interfacing with Windows Console). The project is currently hosted on Launchpad. I have maintained a Bazaar repository of the entire source code.</p>
<p>It has grown to become just about usable now, providing a shell interface to any Windows Console application (e.g. cmd, PowerShell), though not yet programs such as <em>edit</em>. The protocol library SSH.NET has been written from scratch and is probably about 90% complete (minus extra features such as TCP port forwarding) and all the necessary cryptographic algorithms have been implemented/integrated in full. The main task in order to make it fully usable is finishing the Windows Console scanner (also very nearly usable) and then create a proper user-interface for authentication, which is currently hard-coded.  Of course, there are other aspects to the project such as the Windows Service (which is already working) and the admin interface, though they are not so important for the first release. I am also considering splitting the development into two seperate projects, one of them being the SSH server and the other an xterm shell for Windows Console applications (which would be utilised by the server). The main purpose of this is so that the xterm shell can be completed (or at least made stable) much sooner than the SSH server and can serve as a useful program by itself.</p>
<p>Unfortunately, although the project has come along very well I likely won't be able to find the time to work much on such a large project in the near future. (A one-man team was never going to finish the job!) I am nonetheless keen to maintain the project and see it become mature with the help of other experienced coders. <content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I have decided to do my own opinion about this one, and it's been on my head for some time. I'm making my rant about Durham Region Transit's recently announced proposal, a BRT bus line linking from the Municipality of Clarington to Scarborough Town Centre. This has been mentioned on Metrolinx's (the provincial governmental body who oversees public transit in the Greater Toronto Area) plan that was <a href="http://durhamtransit.wordpress.com/2008/09/23/metrolinx-draft-available/" target="_blank">recently released</a>.</p>
<p>The project was later approved in March of this year (2008) and it is expected that the new BRT service will be in place within three years (tenative). The new BRT service will replace the current 94 GO Bus service from Yorkdale Terminal to Oshawa GO station, but the 95 and 96 GO bus routes will continue once the new BRT service is in place along the Highway 2 corridor.</p>
<p>It will follow the "footsteps" of Vancouver's B-Line service, Ottawa's Transitway (along with the Rapibus system on the Quebec side of the Ottawa river), Grand River Transit's iXpress service and many others not listed on this blog. While it's anyone's guess where the new Highway 2 BRT service will run along, one of my colleagues decided to post what the new BRT service will look like. To check it out, go to this <a href="http://www.google.ca/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&#38;hl=en&#38;msa=0&#38;msid=112575952597991993435.00044fd2e56f026f78dd0&#38;z=9" target="_blank">link</a> and click on "901 Highway 2 BRT" (unofficial).</p>
<p>There is one "lousy" and "grave" problem that I want to point out. Once the Highway 2 BRT is in place, what will happen to the Yorkdale to Scarborough Centre portion of the bus route (that is currently served by GO's 94 Yorkdale/Oshawa bus route)? How will passengers from the Durham Region will get to Yorkdale/York Mills and eventually Pearson Airport (and points west....FYI: Pearson Airport is served by GO's 34 Brampton Local bus route)?</p>
<p>My suggestion: let the TTC take over the portion of the route from Yorkdale to Scarborough Centre. While it cost a lot of green to implement and maintain such a route like this, it will value the passengers in the long run, but in most cases will make the passengers uncomfortable at this point. I would also recommend GO transit take over this route as well. Passengers from Yorkdale/York Mills will only transfer at Scarborough Centre and take the Highway 2 BRT bus route to go to points further east. It's that simple.</p>
<p>As for what type of buses that the new Highway 2 BRT bus route will operate on - it's anyone's guess. Here are my preferred candidates:</p>
<ul>
<li>New Flyer D60LFR</li>
<li>Novabus LFS Articulated</li>
<li>Van Hool AG300 (similar to what York Region's VIVA system uses)</li>
</ul>
<p>Either way, It's up to Durham Region Transit to decide what runs on their new bus corridor.</p>

<p style="text-align:justify;"><strong>SOLO </strong>- Memasuki H-2 Lebaran ini, jumlah bus yang masuk ke Terminal Tirtonadi Solo sebanyak 3.156 unit. Jumlah bus tersebut mengangkut 125.528 orang penumpang. Jumlah itu naik 88% dibanding posisi sama tahun lalu sebanyak 66.378 orang.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Untuk jumlah armada bus, tahun lalu ada 3.853 bus yang masuk pada H-2, pada H-2 kali ini sebanyak 3.156 bus. Meski begitu, jumlah penumpang justru naik tahun ini. Diperkirakan, jumlah bus akan mengalami lonjakan termasuk jumlah penumpang pada H-1 hari ini.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Kepala Unit Pelaksana Teknis Daerah (UPTD) Terminal Tirtonadi Solo Sardjono menjelaskan, tahun ini jumlah pemudik yang naik bus diprediksi naik. Pihaknya memprediksi total pemudik yang masuk terminal menembus angka 1,6 juta orang.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Tahun lalu, jelasnya, jumlah pemudik atau penumpang bus dari H-7 hingga H+7 sebanyak 1.429.916 orang. Terkait bus ektra lebaran, pada posisi H-2, jumlah bus ektra yang datang sebanyak 602 unit dengan mengangkut 23.947 penumpang. Dibanding tahun lalu pada posisi yang sama mengalami kenaikan karena tahun lalu pada posisi sama sebanyak 86 bus dengan 3.296 penumpang.<strong>(fit)</strong> <strong>(Sumarno/Sindo/ded)</strong></p>

<p style="text-align:justify;"><strong>JAKARTA </strong>- Penumpukan bus tampak di Terminal Bus Pulo Gadung, Jakarta Selatan. Kondisi ini disebabkan jumlah bus yang tersedia tidak sebanding dengan jumlah penumpang yang mengalami penurunan drastis pada H-2 Lebaran ini.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Kepala Terminal Pulo Gadung Pardjiman menjelaskan, penurunan jumlah penumpang terutama disebabkan banyaknya pihak yang menyelenggarakan mudik bareng.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Sebagai perbandingan, kata Pardjiman, pada puncak arus mudik tahun lalu sedikitnya 16.392 penumpang diberangkatkan dari Terminal Pulo Gadung. Pihaknya juga menyediakan sebanyak 29 bus tambahan.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">"Sedangkan tahun ini, untuk H-2 saja hanya sebanyak 10.416 orang dan terminal hanya menyediakan empat bus tambahan," ujar Pardjiman saat ditemui <strong>okezone</strong> di kantornya, Senin (29/9/2008).</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Lebih lanjut Pardjiman mengatakan, penumpukan ini sudah dimulai sejak pagi. "Rata-rata bus yang berasal dari daerah kosong dan berharap dari Jakarta mendapatkan penumpang minimal ¾ bus terisi. Kalau kurang dari itu tidak akan mencukupi biaya operasional," terangnya.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Disinggung mengenai langkah antisipasi penumpukan bus tersebut, pihak terminal terpaksa akan mengusir bus yang memenuhi terminal. "Biar lancar," katanya.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Berdasar pantauan <strong>okezone</strong>, di Terminal Pulo Gadung<strong> </strong>jumlah penumpang masih tampak normal. Parjiman memperkirakan kenaikan akan terjadi nanti malam, untuk tujuan jangka menengah seperti Cirebon, Kuningan, Tegal, dan sekitarnya. "Mungkin pas arus balik akan terjadi peningkatan tajam, kerena tidak ada bus gratis," pungkasnya.<strong>(ded)</strong></p>

<p style="text-align:justify;"><strong>JAKARTA -</strong> Aksi kriminal dengan modus pembiusan untuk memperdaya korban masih menghiasi atmosfir mudik para pemudik yang menggunakan jasa angkutan bus di terminal. Seperti yang terjadi di terminal bus Pulogadung, Jakarta Timur.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Kepala Pengamanan Posko Lebaran di Terminal Pulogadung, Aiptu Suyanto, sejak 23 September, terdata kasus pembiusan kepada pemudik sudah terjadi.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">"Tercatat ada satu kasus. Pelakunya tidak bisa kami tangkap karena pembiusan dilakukan bukan di terminal ini. Tapi di terminal sebelumnya yang dilalui pemudik, yaitu di terminal Kalideres," kata Suyanto kepada <strong>okezone</strong>, Senin (29/9/2008).</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Suyanto melanjutkan, tindak kriminal lainnya yang juga tercatat Posko Lebaran Terminal Pulogadung adalah penjambretan dan pengeroyokan.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">"Untuk dua kejahatan ini, pelakunya sudah dapat kami tangkap. Tapi kami mengimbau kepada masyarakat agar tetap berhati-hati," ujarnya.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Sebelumnya, Departemen Perhubungan memprediksikan tahun ini jumlah pemudik meningkat dibanding tahun lalu sebesar 16,4 persen yaitu 15,8 juta dibanding tahun lalu.</p>

<p style="text-align:justify;"><strong>JAKARTA -</strong> Puncak mudik Lebaran tahun ini yang menggunakan jasa bus di terminal Pulogadung, Jakarta Timur menurun 15 persen dibandingkan 2007 lalu.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Berdasarkan data yang dimiliki terminal Pulogadung, tahun ini puncak mudik yang kebetulan jatuh pada H-4 sebelum Lebaran yaitu pada Sabtu 27 September, tercatat pemudik hanya 14.039 orang.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">"Tahun lalu, puncaknya mencapai 16.000 orang," kata Kepala Terminal Pulogadung Pardjiman kepada okezone, Senin (29/9/2008).</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Hingga H-3, Minggu kemarin, tercatat pemudik di terminal Pulogadung yang tercatat di Posko Lebaran Terminal Pulogadung sejumlah 10.416 pemudik.</p>
