Et system, der på så kort tid kan skifte fra den ene yderlighed til den anden, er ganske enkelt for ustabil.

Det ser ud til, at kapitalismen endnu en gang har svigtet og spillet fallit.

Kapitalismen kan være en god ide, når der er brug for ekspansion -- for at bygge noget op.

Men dens kaotiske væsen og hang til krigsøkonomi gør den komplet uegnet til at opretholde en stabil og målrettet udvikling.

Da verden mere end nogensinde har brug for målrettet udvikling -- inkl. afvikling af ikke bæredygtige aktiviteter -- må kapitalismen erstattes af en mere systematisk økonomistyring.

Blåtand, ej blåøjet

Llevo muchos años intentando ir a este festival, y no es que me pille lejos, tan sólo a 20 minutos en tren. Lo que pasa es que cada año me salía alguna pega. O no había dinero, o nadie se animaba a ir. Pero este año en cuanto ví la programación no pude evitar pasarlo por alto. Enseguida se apuntó una amiga y me tocó la opción de comprar las entradas.

 Ayer me levanté temprano y me dirigí a una caixa catalunya a por mis entradas. Y se me cayeron los webs al suelo cuando me dijeron que se tenían que comprar un día antes.

 ¿Me iba a quedar quieto y jodernos la noche? Para nada.

Cogí el primer tren que salía hacia Sitges y me recorrí el pueblecillo hasta la taquilla. Allí me llevaría una sorpresa. Me fijé en un videoclub pequeñito, con un letrero que avisaba de una sección freak, con vhs’s bizarros, dvd’s de importación y tal. Al final acabé reservando Nekromantik 1 y 2 en dvd (los que seguí mi blog desde el inicio sabréis que llevo mucho tiempo intentándolas conseguir). Y como anécdota, conocí al dueño del videoclub, un director de cine, con películas tan celebres como Viernes 13: XXL y Gore X: The zombie horror Picture show.

Llega la noche, la sesión va con retraso y entramos a las 1:25 en el cine.

Sale un tipo a dar un discursito sobre las películas que vamos a ver, advirtiendo que en la primera cinta (supuestamente anónima) puede entrar la policía en cualquier momento a por la película. Y que se encontraban los productores entre el publico.

 Se apagan las luces y empieza.

REALITY KILLERS

Argumento: Visiblemente asustados y aludiendo razones de peso, el comité de selección del Sitges'08 se ha visto forzado a incluir esta enigmática cinta en la sección Midnight X-treme. De origen desconocido, lo único que hemos podido adivinar tras visionarla a cámara rápida, con la carne de gallina y evitando el vómito, es que su realizador parece ser un obeso cartero norteamericano, con truculentas motivaciones artísticas, que colecciona vídeos sobre muertes reales y que tiene la intención de convertirse en rey de los reality shows. En su vientre luce la leyenda: ‘Cambiar la forma de un hombre es privilegio de Dios'. ¡Dios, que alguien lo detenga!

Opinión: Decir que la fantasmada esta ya me la olía yo de lejos como técnica de marketing descarada que luego se queda en nada y menos.

La película trata sobre un perturbado que colecciona videos de asesinatos reales. Iremos viendo lo ‘’mejor’’ de su colección con un prologo suyo antes de cada cinta. Gore casi inexistente, lenta, aburrida y de lo más poco creíble que he visto. Y es que usan el sucio truco de apartar la cámara justo en el momento de acción.

¿Alguien se va a tragar que en una supuesta snuff movie los asesinos sean tan gilipollas como para poner la cámara contra el suelo justo antes de cargarse a la victima? La excusa sería que no tendrían ni un puto duro para efector, pero que ni así se salva. Lo espeluznante es ver al tipo, un cartero con sobrepeso, andar en paños menores toda la película de un lado para otro. Al menos se veían tetas… (A parte de las del protagonista).

 Conclusión: No se si sería por que iba con expectativas de ver algo fuerte y me encontré con esto, pero vamos… que toda la sala no puede estar equivocada.

 La anécdota: La gente chillando al final de la película:

-¡Con razón era anónima!

-¡Que salgan los productores si tienen huevos!

Argumento: Midnight X-Treme se ha puesto en plan familiar. Así lo demuestra la escalofriante Home Movie y también esta sangrienta cinta filmada en el corazón del hogar. Una noche, Lena, que trabaja como chica de la limpieza en Heathrow, pierde su bus y se ve obligada a quedarse en la casa de una compañera. Allí descubre que la mamá y el papá tienen un hobby: encerrar a la gente para torturarlos. Steven Sheil plantea un terror con grandes toques de humor y de claustrofobia, apoyada por los sucesivos planos desde la ventana de los aviones. Un nuevo miembro para la familia de La matanza de Texas.

Opinión: Esta nos quitó el mal sabor de boca de la anterior.

Con un humor negro (negrísimo) asistiremos al infierno de nuestra protagonista, cuando es secuestrada por una familia muy peculiar.

Una madre que le gusta ‘’jugar’’ con sus victimas y un padre que se folla a los pedazos de carne de la gente que él mismo descuartiza.

Un gustazo ver los piques entre los hermanos y los castigos maternales.

Grotesca fiesta de navidad.

Conclusión: Mejor de lo que me esperaba. Me reí bastante y las escenas de tortura estaban bien hechas. Al final se hace un poco pesada, pero esta entretenida y se deja ver. Si te pensabas que tu familia era rara…

La anécdota: El –Aghhhhhhhh de toda la sala al unísono al ver al padre tirándose a un trozo de carne.

Puntuación: 6’5

Argumento: En una granja de cerdos, cuatro personas, atadas, vapuleadas y con una cámara de vídeo sujeta a sus cabezas, van a convertirse en protagonistas una película snuff. Dos de ellos son pareja y el director de tan atroz producción verá en ello amplias posibilidades artísticas. ¿Pataleta reflexiva sobre la producción cinematográfica coreana o gore por la cara? El espectador de esta cinta independiente, incómoda y dantesca, se verá obligado a responder mientras alterna su papel de víctima y verdugo en razón del punto de vista de la cámara que toque. Sea como fuere, si una cosa queda clara es que ni en las snuff movies se respeta el trabajo del guionista.

Opinión: Pese al hacernos la púa con esta película y poniéndonosla subtitulada en ingles (acabo de encontrar ahora mismo los subtítulos en español, ya ves tu lo que les habría costado ponerlos…) fue la película con las que mas disfrute de toda la noche.

A la propuesta originalidad no le falta, ver el rodaje de una snuff movie variando entre la perspectiva de la victima (tiene una cámara enganchada a la cabeza) y el verdugo. Asistiremos a las escenas más fuertes de la noche, con bastante gore del bueno. El ambiente esta muy bien conseguido y te llega a sumergir dentro de la película. El clima agobiante y la angustia del protagonista (aun suenan sus gritos en mi cabeza) hizo que disfrutara de lo lindo. Los juegos macabros y las apuestas entre victima y verdugo son de lo mejorcito y con más mala leche que he visto en bastante tiempo.

Conclusión: Lo mejor de la noche, si tenéis la oportunidad de verla no lo dudéis.

La anécdota: La gente saliéndose de la sala al ver que estaba subtitulada en ingles y pensando que seria un bodrio. Mal por ellos, se perdieron los mejorcito de la noche.

Puntuación: 7’5/10

Miro mi reloj y eran ya las 6 de la mañana, la noche se ha pasado bastante rápido y vamos saliendo de la sala y de camino a la estación. Para ser mi primer festival he de decir que he salido un poco decepcionado, esperaba más en general, pero es lo que suele pasar cuando te creas expectativas, que luego te llevas un ostiazo. Pero vamos, podría haber estado mucho peor. Ha sido una noche entretenida y con alguna que otra sorpresa. Lo único que tengo que reprochar es la putada de los subtítulos en le ultimo film que no se a que coño vino, pero en fin…

PUNTUACIÓN LA NOCHE MÁS KILLER: 6/10

Como anécdota de la noche mi amiga estaba totalmente convencida de que íbamos a ver una proyección de snuff movie de verdad, jodidos enfermos xD. Y el viernes que viene volvemos con ni más ni menos que… PHILOSOPHY OF THE KNIFE.

Capcom nos muestra nuevas capturas de la quinta parte de la saga Resident Evil. Esta vez nos desvelan el modo cooperativo entre Chris Redfield y Sheva Alomar en el continente africano.

Sheva será controlada por inteligencia artificial y podremos apoyarnos en ella para el combate o solicitarle munición, entre otras utilidades, teniendo cuidado de que no muera, porque equivaldría al final de la partida. La fecha de salida para el juego está prevista nada más y nada menos que un viernes 13 de marzo. ¿Alguien cree en las casualidades?

George A. Romero, el padre putativo de los zombies, se encuentra trabajando en una nueva cinta que, a diferencia de lo que les comenté hace un tiempo, no es una secuela directa de su trabajo anterior en Diary of the Dead (cuya crítica pueden leer AQUÍ), sin embargo, cuenta con algo que ya les había comentado... una isla. De acuerdo a lo que se comenta, la historia se centraría en lo que ocurre en una pequeña isla del norte de Estados Unidos luego de estallar el brote de muertos vivientes. Aparentemente la nueva cinta de zombies se centrará en el terreno de la moralidad ya que los "héroes" de esta película tendrán que enfrentarse entre quienes esperan encontrar una cura que salve a sus amigos y familiares muertos vivientes y quienes inician una ofensiva para liberar al pueblo de las hordas carnívoras. Filmada en este momento en Ontario, Canadá, la cinta de George A. Romero se estrenaría en 2009 y su nombre podría ser "Island of the Dead".

In Israel's ultra-Orthodox Jewish community, where the rule of law sometimes takes a back seat to the rule of God, zealots are on a campaign to stamp out behavior they consider unchaste. They hurl stones at women for such "sins" as wearing a red blouse and attack stores selling devices that can access the Internet.

In recent weeks, self-styled "modesty patrols" have been accused of breaking into the apartment of a Jerusalem woman and beating her for allegedly consorting with men. They have torched a store that sells MP4 players, fearing devout Jews would use them to download pornography.

"These breaches of purity and modesty endanger our community," said 38-year-old Elchanan Blau, defending the bearded, black-robed zealots. "If it takes fire to get them to stop, then so be it."

Many ultra-Orthodox Jews are dismayed by the violence, but the enforcers often enjoy quiet approval from rabbis eager to protect their own reputations as guardians of the faith, community members say. And while some welcome anything that keeps secular culture out of their cloistered world, others feel terrorized, knowing that the mere perception of impropriety could ruin their lives.

"There are eyes and ears all over the place, very similar to what you hear about in countries like Iran," says Israeli-American novelist Naomi Ragen, an observant Jew who has chronicled the troubles that confront some women living in the ultra-Orthodox world.

The violence has already deepened the antagonism between the 600,000 haredim, or God-fearing, and the secular majority, which resents having religious rules dictated to them.

Religious vigilantes operate in a society that has granted their community influence well beyond its numbers - partly out of a commitment to revive the great centers of Jewish scholarship destroyed in the Holocaust, but also because the Orthodox are perennial king-makers in Israeli coalition politics.

Thus public transport is grounded for the Jewish Sabbath each Saturday, and the rabbis control all Jewish marriage and divorce in Israel.

In recent years, however, the haredim have eased up on their long campaign to impose their rules on secular areas, and nowadays many restaurants and suburban shopping centers are open on the Sabbath.

These days, most vigilante attacks take place in the zealots' own neighborhoods.

'They can burn in hell'
Israel police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said the modesty police are not an organized phenomenon, just rogue enforcers carrying out isolated attacks. But Israel's Justice Ministry used the term "modesty patrols" in an indictment against a man accused of assaulting the Jerusalem woman.

The unidentified, 31-year-old woman had left the ultra-Orthodox fold after getting divorced, according to the indictment filed by the Jerusalem district attorney's office. The indictment said her assailant tried to get her to leave her apartment in a haredi neighborhood in Jerusalem by gagging, beating and threatening to kill her. He was paid $2,000 for the attack, it said.

A 17-year-old who moved to Israel from New York five years ago said she was hospitalized after being attacked with pepper spray by a crowd of men outraged that she was walking down a Jerusalem street with boys.

"They can burn in hell," said the girl, who would identify herself only as Rivka.

She lives in Beit Shemesh, a town outside Jerusalem where the vigilantism has been particularly violent. Zealots there have thrown rocks and spat at women, and set fire to trash bins to protest impiety. Walls of the neighborhood are plastered with signs exhorting women to dress modestly - spelled out as closed-necked, long-sleeved blouses and long skirts.
'Stupid troublemakers'
The state, catering to religious sensitivities, subsidizes gender-segregated bus routes that service religious neighborhoods. Ragen and several other women challenged the practice in Israel's Supreme Court after an Orthodox Canadian woman in her 50s told police she was kicked, slapped, pushed to the floor and spat upon by men for refusing to move to the back of the bus.

Another Beit Shemesh girl, who asked to be identified only as Esther, said zealots threw rocks, cursed and spat at a friend for wearing a red blouse - taboo because the color attracts attention.

Yitzhak Polack, a 50-year-old Jerusalem teacher, is one of those who deplore such behavior.

"They are stupid troublemakers who are bringing shame and disgrace on this holy community," he said.

But the rabbis are afraid to condemn them, says Yehuda Meshi-Zahav, another community member.

"They can't come out against zealots who champion modesty. Here and there they write against violence, but the militants ultimately set the tone," he said.

Stores are targeted too.

'This store burns souls'
In August, a Jerusalem man was placed under house arrest on suspicion he set fire to a store in a haredi district of the city that sold MP4 players.

"It started about six months ago. They would come into the store, about 15 of them at a time, screaming, 'This store burns souls!' and they would throw merchandise on the floor and threaten customers," said 31-year-old Aaron Gold, a haredi worker at the Space electronic store.

One Friday night, just before the Sabbath was about to begin, "they smashed a window, doused the place with gasoline and lit a match," Gold said.

Now, a big sign behind the counter says, "All products sold in this store are under rabbinical supervision. By order of the rabbis, no MP4s are sold here."

Clothing stores that sell clothes regarded as provocative have been vandalized, and bleach thrown at merchandise.

Suspicion sparks attack
Girls have been expelled from school after being seen talking to boys, a punishment that ruins their marriage prospects.

"It could be very innocent; she could be talking to her brother," Ragen said. But once thrown out of school, "no one - NO ONE - will take you in," she added.

In one case, the violence reached the highest levels of haredi society.

Three years ago, a son of Israel's Sephardi chief rabbi, Shlomo Amar, was accused of kidnapping a 17-year-old boy, beating him at knifepoint and terrorizing him with snarling dogs because he had sought the attentions of the accused's unchaperoned sister.

The son was sentenced to two years and eight months in jail.

His sister married a different suitor the following year.

The target of the attack, national assembly member Rashid Akbar Nawani, sustained injuries to his legs, according to a spokesman for his party. Nawani is a senior member of former Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's Pakistan Muslim League-N party (PML-N).The entire province of Punjab has been placed under high alert after Monday's attack, which is under investigation, police said.

Ellos (Ils) es la primera obra del tándem formado por los franceses David Moreau y Xavier Palaud, que después hicieron el infumable remake de The Eye (Visiones), bien revisada por mi compañero Impala. En esta revisan un caso basado en una historia real en Rumanía donde una pareja sufre las consecuencias de un grupo de asaltadores.

Todo comienza de una manera tipiquísima donde una mujer conduce su vehículo con su odiada hija, sufre un accidente en una calzada de un bosque y desaparecen ambas a manos de algún perturbado-loco-psíquico-asesino.

Clémentine es una profesora de francés en un colegio de Rumanía. Después de volver del trabajo y cruzarse con una grúa y un par de patrullas de la policía que están retirando el coche de la primera escena, va a su casa donde vive con su novio Lucas que es novelista, una mansión antígua en medio de la nada que están reformando. Todo transcurre con total normalidad hasta que cae la noche. Ambos se dan cuenta que no están solos en la mansión, que han entrado una serie de personas para acosarles. Todo cambia, ahora nada más que intentarán sobrevivir a toda costa.

La película abusa de planos oscuros y mal definidos para crear un ambiente tenso donde la pareja, que tiene todo el peso de la película, intentan buscar salidas al encerrarse en su propio cuarto. Este abuso provoca un poco de desconcierto porque no se distinguen muchas veces las siluetas de los actores. Otros planos los ruedan a cámara fija con mucho granulado como si fueran cámaras de seguridad las que están filmándolo. Ruidos extraños, con una sonoridad estupenda el film, que es la que crea el mejor ambiente porque tanto Michaël Cohen y Olivia Bonamy, la pareja de actores, no convence, quizá un poco más Olivia. El guión no tiene giros argumentales que sorprendan excepto en el final que es un poco predecible; no tiene mucha credibilidad un guión donde los acosadores parecen omnipresentes y conocen mejor la casa donde vive la pareja que ellos mismos. Muy de agradecer que la película dure 70 minutos, porque el guión no da para más, aparte de que hay un par de escenas totalmente de relleno.

La película no aburre, que ya es algo, no asusta, que es muy malo siendo este género el importante en el film. El recurso más abundante es el de escena de golpe y tachán de sonido, recurso bastante trillado y que no da miedo.
