NEW YORK (AP) — Nick Cannon is cast as Mariah Carey's lover in her new video — but has the superstar diva given the young actor a considerably bigger role in real life? According to several published reports, Carey, 38, married Cannon, 27, on Wednesday. Neither Carey's publicist nor Cannon's manager returned requests from The Associated Press for comment.

If the pair did indeed wed, it would be a whirlwind romance. Word that the two were seeing each other first surfaced in the last few weeks. Last Saturday, Carey was seen sporting a huge diamond ring on her finger at the Tribeca Film Festival premiere of her movie, "Tennessee," in which she plays a waitress. Cannon was at her side at the party. Speculation swirled that the couple were engaged.

Latina.com was first to report that the two got married, at Carey's home in the Bahamas. Friday's New York Post also has the pair wed and E! Online quoted a relative of Cannon's as saying that he called his family and confirmed the news.

"He called us and told us all about it. We are happy for him. If that is what he wants then we are happy for him," Linda Cannon, identified simply as a family member, was quoted telling E!

Cannon has put out a rap album, but is best known for his role in the movie "Drumline" and a Nickelodeon TV series (yes, Nickelodeon — Cannon is 11 years Carey's junior). He's featured in Carey's upcoming video for "Bye Bye."

While Carey and Cannon (or is it the Cannons?) were playing coy, the famed jeweler Jacob & Co. was quick to publicize its apparent role in the reputed union with a press release touting the ring Cannon reportedly gave her.

The release described it as "crafted from platinum and features a square emerald cut fancy light pink diamond as the center stone surrounded by 58 intense pink diamonds and two half moon diamonds on each side.

"The total carat weight of the ring — center stone is 10 carats — is a jaw-dropping 17 carats with a value of $2.5 million."

Cannon does have experience with engagement rings. The actor, who has previously romanced singer Christina Milian and voluptuous reality star Kim Kardashian, last year gave a 15-carat stone to Victoria's Secret model Selita Ebanks as he proposed in grand fashion — on the Jumbotron in New York's Times Square. Cameras were flashing as she said yes. They split just a few months later.

The Carey-Cannon match is already getting considerably more ink, leaving some to wonder whether it's a publicity stunt: After all, she's just released a No. 1 album ("EMC2" is on the top of the charts), and he has at least four movies due out this year.

But then again, Carey is one of the most successful artists in music, and hardly needs a marriage to get her attention: She's already scored a No. 1 hit off the album with "Touch My Body."

This would be Cannon's first marriage but Carey's second. She famously wed top music executive Tommy Mottola in an extravagant wedding in 1993. They had a bitter divorce in 1998.

Right now, I would point Nick in the direction of my favorite video of the year so far, International Players Anthem. The story behind it would be exactly what I would be telling Nick Cannon right now, if we were cool and hung out and shit… Why pimpin' why get married?

I don't see any upside in this move, unless Mariah is about to start popping out a couple of kids. That might be a good move for Nick, since Mariah is worth almost a quarter of Billion (yes, that is 250 million dollars) dollars, with no sign of slowing down. We here at Too Old, applaud all the men who are making moves, like our friends who have a terrible time waking up at 11:20 am and having to sort through the myriad of options that are available on TV/Cable/Satellite and then decide where to eat… that must be the life and while we are haters, we can't hate on this, just continue to be envious….

While we here at Too Old are all well aware of how Dave Chapelle's son feels about Nick Cannon, I was unaware until recently of his budding romance with pop/R&B diva Mariah Carey.  MSNBC reported today that sources from both Cannon and Carey have confirmed the couple's recent engagement.  I have already commented in a previous post about Mariah's appearance on American Idol, looking banging as ever, and now it turns out she's getting banged out by Mr. Wild 'N Out.  Cannon was previously engaged to Victoria's Secret model Selita Ebanks (pictured below) and while Mariah may be an upgrade financially it is debatable whether this could be considered anything better than a lateral move from an attraction perspective (although Mariah is certainly more well endowed in the chest area).

For Mariah, it is at least a move to a more youthful beau (Cannon is 10 years her junior) and presumably funnier than her past love interests (ex-husband Tommy Mottola comes to mind).

In the fast paced world of the entertainment industry these kind of relationships rarely last long.  I'm hoping that Mariah finds Nick Cannon a bit too old for her tastes and decides to ditch the 27-year-old for a slightly less-hilarious, 26-year-old blogger that we all know and love.

Sabrina Sakaë was born Sunday morning in New York and weighed 8 lbs. 4 oz. "Mother, father and baby Sabrina are all healthy and very happy and will be residing at their ranch in Colorado," the singer's rep said in a statement.

Just 3 weeks ago (photo taken at that time) I reported that the baby was due anytime, but didn't believe it. Thalia did not look a day over 8 months pregnant.

The star, who is expecting a girl next month, recently threw a baby shower for 40 friends and family in New York City.

She and husband, record executive, Tommy Mottola, are said to be expecting sometime this month.

I say their little princess makes her debut in October. She does not look full term at all....

Lindsay Lohan has been ordered to give evidence in her mother’s legal battle over the star’s music career.

The Just My Luck actress has been subpoenaed to a California law office to give an ‘oral deposition’ later this month, and will have to bring along all communication records between herself and her mother and father, as well as several other relevant parties, to a Santa Monica Law Office.

Dina Lohan is currently battling allegations by music producers Antonio Almeida and Mitchell Chait that she signed a partnership deal over Lohan’s music career in 2002, but were left out when a deal was signed two years later with Tommy Mottola’s Casablanca label.
