One of them was suitably cranky about it and had a good enough self-image to follow the diet for purposes of the show, but didn't really get caught up in it. The other woman... went completely mental. She started exercising, drinking only lemonade for her "meals" and finally ended up bulimic. All of this over the course of 4 weeks!

But then, I can see the appeal of it, too. You lose a few pounds, you're excited and happy for it. You feel good, everyone congratulates you. It's like you're a hero for your restraint. And hey, it's not like you're hurting anyone, right? Just yourself. And who cares about you? You're fat and no one will love you. All of the attention you get is because of your size, and that's easy enough to control by not eating. And when your body makes you binge? Barf it up, baby.

It's interesting. I feel like I'm on that same cliff, and I can why she jumped and where she landed. I see it all so clearly.

Of course, I don't have a huge fear of becoming that. Even if I wanted to, my hypoglycemia prevents me from completely skipping meals like that. My blood sugar drops and sometimes I'll pass out, sometimes I'll just wish I could die. I'm not into suffering.

That's why I chose a diet that sounded the most balanced and had diabetic-friendly choices so that I could maintain my sugar level. It's not hunger I mind, it's when the insulin takes over and makes me dizzy and nauseated and sick to my stomach. It's awful.

Anyway, S took this picture of me. I don't see the 3 pound loss. I think it's sort of a drop in the bucket. I'm not entirely sure how much weight loss I should be expecting at this stage. I'm trying to stay as faithful to my menu as I can, but to be honest, it's a lot more than I'm used to eating, so I skip some snacks sometimes. I don't think I'm missing enough to put myself into 'starvation mode' but I'm trying to figure out a balance there.
